Thanks all for the explanation. I read the posts in the firs page and I think I understand. I learn more in the last days in this topic about play with Red then in many years. I'm beginner playing with the new rules and with burn, and if you don't mind I will make some questions to learn more.
Can anyone explain me some of the best choices for the sideboard? And one really thing that make me cry is that I don't want to take any card out. I play a standard deck last weekend with Red and only one time I use the sideboard, and it's against Artifacts. The other cards I look and I think and always keep then all
When I look to Yost deck If I want to put sideboard cards, I think I will remove one or 2 creatures (maybe a mistake) but I can decide with the all other cards of burn. What's the worst? If my opponent only have basic lands is easy, I take price of progress, but if he have a lot of no basic lands it's impossible to take a possible 6 or 8 points damage card. Fireblast maybe one out, but it's my favorite finisher...
Can anyone give me a good advice?
P.s.-sorry for my bad English...
I side out figure against deck with swords to plowshares. Price gainst two color and combo decks and marauders against rug and bolt decks. Those general guidelines should make room for the cards you want to bring in if you're using my board. Just side out the cards that represent the least damage.
Can you explain better why you take price of progress against two color. The had a lot of duals and no basic lands or I'm wrong. I didn't play for real Legacy for many years. But in my time I always have to run against many no basic lands.

Half their mana base can be Fetchlands, so they have little diversity in their mana base (only a couple non-basic dual lands). They can usually function with just one or two non-basic lands out, because most of their spells require only a single mana from each color, and the rest is colorless. This means PoP will hardly ever get a decent amount of damage through.

- To my youngest sister when she was 6.
Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
I played a UR Tempo deck in a recent tournament and thought for sure Price would be good, but my opponent figured I was playing Price and purposely didn't play any of his dual lands. It was frustrating because Price was just a dead card as a result.
DKA has brought us little, mostly a new SB option but has anyone given any thought to Faithless looting (the first card and possibly the best card spoiled)? Since its printing Magma Jet, was often time considered a staple due to its ability to dig and find relevant burn and shuffle away dead draws. Looting gives us this and more. It provides card quality, swapping useless lands lategame for much needed burn to "get there" or even aid in finding a crucial SB answer. In addition, it accelerates threshold needed for Barbarian ring or fuel for the less favored Grim Lavamancer. I think a build with Hellspark Elemental compliments Looting very well adding even more advantage to the card, all for (R) draw 2 and put a volcanic hammer with flashback in your GY
It's unnecessary. Faithless Looting is pure Card Quality, and not Card Advantage. Burn already has some of the most consistent draws in the format, there really isn't much need for any more. And certainly not any without damage attached to it.

Thanks for the guide. I've not one Legacy Red deck yet. I play Magic for some years, then I stop and sell my cards and now a few years latter I come back playing. I'm only playing for fun, I will not be World Champion or ever play in a big tournament. I only play local and like I say for fun. In last years I play before now my Legacy decks are Red and POX. So I chose to begin in Legacy with POX ( I still have some of the cards), It's a deck really fun to play. The people hate the disruption:D, I do to them . Now I have one POX deck running in Legacy, and playing in standard with Red.
Red is my favorite Color in Magic and Black is the second, I see the report in SCG and when the ask: "What’s The Worst Color In Legacy?", they usual answered Red and Black.
In my time, the Red weren't consistent but now are cards so good. I will make my deck for modern in burn and a Legacy deck to. I will not spend a lot of money in duals too:rolleyes:

Where can I read comments about the tournament from non-burn players? I want to enjoy their delicious tears.
I've never played burn and can't see myself ever playing it (although I put together this deck after Austin won it all). I still think it's great that Burn is competitive.

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
I agree. Great report! I am so psyched about this deck right now! I have only played in two small tournaments with it and am a combined 4-4 (although I won a foil Wurmcoil in one of them) but I feel myself getting better and better with it each time I play. Reading your report and watching you play has helped me a lot as well.
Congratulations Yost, it's great to see red win big, the first thing my friends said after you won was "we're never gonna hear the end of this from you, are we?" I've only been playing legacy for a few months, but playing burn, especially on MODO where its about $30, has helped me learn the meta, and like you said in your report, I've never felt like the underdog.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but with 200+ pages it can be tough to go through them all.
It seems like Reanimator and ANT/TES/Storm are some of the tougher match-ups for burn, given they can get out a threat, or win outright, very early.
Would be worth it to run Arid Mesas to pack 4x Path to Exile and 4x Silence in the sideboard? (For reanimator and storm respectively).
Seems like Iona or Sphinx is pretty much gg for Burn, I figure that being able to exile it, with the only advantage being a basic.
I would guess that storm decks would side out their own Silences/Orim's Chants in G2 against burn, given we can't really disrupt them other than make using Ad Nauseam awkward to use, having our own Silence G2 could put quite a damper in their plans of going off.
As for storm, some folks prefer pyrostatic pillar I prefer just to burn them down. If I get combo'd out before they die, it happens. Just try to ad nauseum starting @ 11, see how far you get. We have semi-sweepers for the gobbo route as well. So they have to tendrils us for lethal.

I prefer relic of progenitus, as worse case scenario I can use it to cantrip.
But ya, crypt works too. I wouldn't run extraction, as most of the time you just wanna exile the whole 'yard.

so is lightning bolt. pretty sure i'll be switching to mindbreak traps in the future for the storm matchups.
I like the idea of having both. That way they have to side/keep in both duress effects and bounce if they want to combo off safely. I've played a few postboard practice games with a 2/2 split and it makes it a lot harder for them.

1-Exiling targets/'yards
2-Burning them down to the point of where they can't cast Reanimate
Worse case scenario, just pack some phyrexian metamorph in your sideboard.

It was just a line of thought I had after watching a reanimator deck beat down a mono-r burn with a t1 entomb into a t2 exhume.
So something like Tormod's Crypt, or maybe Surgical Extraction, would be better options to fight it?
Never seen Pyrostatic Pillar, that seems like good tech against storm.
But ya, crypt works too. I wouldn't run extraction, as most of the time you just wanna exile the whole 'yard.
