I realize that you needed to pick a sample decklist, but picking the Mode deck, rather than the #1 placing deck is probably a better gauge of what would be expected for a particular deck.
Is there any way to cleanup the initial spreadsheet? The underscores make it very difficult to read. you could use \[code\]\[/code\] tags to line up fixed width pastes. (and remove \)

Great job!
Though I must admit, I look at these prices and wonder how long Legacy can sustain itself before everything just gets too expensive and it goes the way of Vintage. The $1,500 to $2,000+ price range for most of the top decks right now is just rather absurd.

Thank you, I was able to resolve the underscore issue fairly quickly >^,^<
As for the deck choices, I realize the versions these people ran might not be optimal but for a majority of the deck I feel it is a good enough representation to post accordingly, however I have a few of these decks myself, and I know looking at some of these, there is a card or 2 here and there that I myself don't seeing being ran in a more "traditional" build, but at the same time, I had to find decklists somewhere and I felt comfortable posting ones that have proven themselves even if they are "tweaked"
Great job!

With a little work, these prices can be reduced by about 25% using ebay. With some good luck, you can find pieces being sold for 50% of the SCG values.
I agree, though. I pretty much own the entire legacy format, but I don't think the thing can sustain itself much longer. My local store has a really big interest in Legacy, but people can't afford to pay $2000 for a deck that might be out of vogue in 6 months. It's just getting too expensive for most players.
In the last 3 months... I've built, B/W Stoneblade, U/R Delver and added key pieces to POX entirely off of eBay for a total of $1500... This includes duals, fow, and bobs so it's not entirely impossible to get into legacy
Part of the fun was bidding and setting my own price restrictions on certain cards.
Starcity's the defacto price valuation system, for better or worse. This is good.
Yup i know. When I trade locally, everyone uses SCG prices as the standard.
But for the people who don't have as much money. We shop around and can find much better prices. Strikezone and Troll and Toad are the two largest vendors besides SCG and both of these vendors easily have the same prices or better. Usually better.
Very nicely done. It's amazing how High Tide's price jumps 150% when you put Candelabra of Tawnos into the mix.
And I didn't know MUD was under $600. I might consider looking into that in the future with the money I'm making disassembling my Pox deck.

Thanks for the effort you put into this! I tend to shy away from using StarCityGames for pricing since they overcharge for singles so I usually take off 25% from their overall prices to gauge how much a card/deck actually costs using Ebay/good deals from forums + TCGplayer.
Thanks for all the effort in this. Really good job. Lots of money can be saved if you have the time to be patient on ebay, but even then Legacy is getting super expensive lately. I've been trying to get some different lists completed for a while now, but everytime I turn around a different piece I'm missing has gone up $20+ for a single card.
Worksheet file? I just opened up a word document that was blank and started writing stuff down in it / putting it all together, it literally looks exactly the same as the first post, well, except for the spoiler tabs to save room / time.
Excellent Job! However this does make me kind of sad because it seems that legacy is quickly becoming unplayable due to ridiculously high prices. I mean $2000 for the top decks is just insane it seems that in the last year all legacy decks went up in value by like 25%. My own store no longer even holds regular legacy tournaments due to lack of interest due to high prices which is a shame since it's an incredibly versatile and fun format.
RIP Legacy...If only the reserved list was abolished...
This list is epic, thank you so very much for putting in the effort of compiling it Feline o1!
It's good to see some budget lists putting up some numbers but that top 3, and the price tags associated with each, is a bit unnerving. I can see how the cost of entry is becoming a significant barrier for new players.
I've been bringing 4 random decks down to my local shop on Legacy nights so that I have some to loan out to folks who want to try something new. About half the time I'll play a "budget" list myself in an effort to promote the decklist for our Standard players who are looking to break in to the better format. We've had moderate success with it and, due to the nature of the rogue'ish meta, weird/sub-optimal lists can often win. I could see in a more developed meta that a lot of what gets played locally would not hold up though and I don't like the idea of Legacy's price tag pushing players in to Modern instead. Even though that is exactly what WotC wants.
The legacy staples, particularily the mana bases, are the always the most expensive cards in the decks. Mana base alone is often 1K+. Once you have duals, wastelands and fetchlands, building any deck becomes infinitely easier.
I will say, if I was just getting in to Legacy now, I'd be a LOT more selective in the decks I was building. It's too expensive to buy everything now. I still build the "budget" mono lists if only because they can be just as fun to pilot and I have no problem loaning them out.
Building a legacy collection is meant to be a stroll, a part of the hobby experience of magic of trading and building a playable collection over years. The price of legacy is what makes acquiring desired cards such a special occasion. The nice thing about Legacy is though it may take a year or two to optimally build a deck, but when you're done it won't ever rotate out and it will hold its value.
I would be ok with them sticky'ing it, I believe it's the moderators that can only decide to do that though, unless I'm suppose to do that myself, if that's the case, just tell me how and i shall.
DOn't understand why there is no death and taxes lists in there (or at least white weenie deck as they call it).
I can see at least two lists that made a top 16 recently:
Wow, I have no idea how that slipped through, thank you, I will be fixing this within the next 24 hours of this post, right now however I have a wednesday type 1.5 tournament to attend to ~EDIT Looks like I had enough time to get it done now instead >^,^<

Is there any way to cleanup the initial spreadsheet? The underscores make it very difficult to read. you could use \[code\]\[/code\] tags to line up fixed width pastes. (and remove \)
5x SCG Legacy Open T8
16th place GP Indianapolis 2012
Check out my Legacy stream
It's just getting too expensive for most players.
deck #30, though, "team america"... i'm under the impression that team america is a BUG colored deck, not red, white and blue.
Part of the fun was bidding and setting my own price restrictions on certain cards.

Yup i know. When I trade locally, everyone uses SCG prices as the standard.
But for the people who don't have as much money. We shop around and can find much better prices. Strikezone and Troll and Toad are the two largest vendors besides SCG and both of these vendors easily have the same prices or better. Usually better.
I like how winning decklists are used as reference on prices.

And I didn't know MUD was under $600. I might consider looking into that in the future with the money I'm making disassembling my Pox deck.
Special thanks to Hakai Studios and SushiOtter for the sig!

RIP Legacy...If only the reserved list was abolished...

Aka All the duals,All the fetchs,Force,Wasteland etc.
The cheapest decks on here (Burn,Forgemaster MUD,Dredge,Hightide, belcher) consist of none of these things.
There are always exceptions of course. Not a lot of Loyal Retainers, Moat, Imperial Recruiter, The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, etc going around but those are fringe cards used in only a few decks at most.
Wow, I have no idea how that slipped through, thank you, I will be fixing this within the next 24 hours of this post, right now however I have a wednesday type 1.5 tournament to attend to ~EDIT Looks like I had enough time to get it done now instead >^,^<
