It's looking like we're due for some primer re-boots in our established area. There are also some decisions to be made with how we classify certain decks. I love asking the community how to handle things. This is a team effort. It's our forum.
The main culprits for revisions: Team America
Basically BUG is aggro/tempo, midrange, and pure control. We currently have broad aggro vs control.
The primer needs updating no matter what, but would you prefer having us rebrand the thread as:
a) BUG/Team America > Aggro
b) BUG Control > Control
or
a) BUG [aggro/tempo] > Aggro
b) BUG [midrange] > Aggro
c) BUG Control > Control
or
a) BUG [aggro/tempo] > Aggro
b) BUG [midrange/control] > Control
*Specifically, Shardless BUG is not Team America. It's a midrange strategy closer to control than tempo. I'd love to hear the community's thoughts here.
The Rock
*Updates with DRS and Abrupt Decay. This deck has done quite well in recent memory
Additionally, should Deadguy Ale and BWx Stoneblade marry? This has been a point of contention. Going into 2013 the lines are beyond blurred with what each deck packs in the 75. We could call it BWx Aggro or something.
Dated primers (not the worst)
Bant -- not much has changed
Merfolks -- not much has changed
If anyone wants to help write primers, by all means volunteer! I wrote the current TA thread out of necessity.
Special thanks to all users who work hard to make the legacy forums what it is! Our primers are a testament to everyone's dedication.
Please voice additional ideas and concerns in this thread.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
Well, in saying so, I would have to note that I would want to be extremely thorough in doing so, but if it helps, I could probably cover all of those over the course of a few days, but putting enough time into it I know I could do a primer for -The Rock- / -BUG aggro- (Delver and even stifle have been in some of these lists) / -BUG Midrange- / -BUG Control- (more planeswalkers and disruption), based on successful lists that have performed in the past 3 months. Though I have to ask, how exactly do I make a "Primer", is it just like making a new thread but you just put [Primer] at the beginning of the title?
In either case, I could start out with a "quicker" version, linking the basics of the decks and noting some deck lists, giving each a [Primer] almost literally right now, then over the next couple of days just spend time making them more and more detailed until I feel I've covered everything important.
In either case, if that's all ok then consider The rock / BUG aggro / BUG control covered, I'd have to do a little more research on BUG midrange just to make it's properly noted, but I could also look over that one as well.
As far as the other issues, I suppose my "votes" would be this:
B/W Deadguyale Stoneblade could merge that scenario, the decks are similar enough. Merfolk and Bant are probably overall fine, but the format has been pretty well impacted since Return to Ravnica, so I can understand an update on some level there, really to any primer that doesn't have things noted for the past 3 months or longerwith the prevalence of so many deck lists with Abrupt Decay and DeathRite Shaman. Not to mention other lesser stuff like [card]Rest in Peace[/cards] combos.
I just wrote this in the canadian thresh thread in response to someone asking about BUG. The best thing I've ever read about BUG's philosophy is that it is built off a 5-point spectrum:
Pure Tempo ---> Aggro ---> Midrange ---> Midrange/Control ---> Pure Control
We have the BUG archetype atm divided into "aggro" and "control". With the way the BUG cards are falling into place, should we continue this trend? Where does Shardless fall into place? Should we keep 2 threads for BUG? Should there be a third thread?
I argue "team america" is just the pure tempo and aggro department. Midrange starts to shift away from delver in favor of more liliana's and shardless agents and snapcasters.

Glad to hear you can help out with writing. I'd love to hear if anyone else is down to help out.

If it helps, in all my research and analysis of the metagame based on decklists and their performances from bigger events, like starcity and grand prix's, I am certain BUG aggro / BUG midrange / BUG control would be enough to satisfy, it could even be noted the comparisons of each at the beginning of each, as well as strategies that are blurred between aggro-midrange, and midrange-control, in either case, Team America will be a mess, but I'll start with BUG aggro and go from there. ^.^
The rock, Jund, Junk, and zombardment i think should be in one thread. because they are all rock variants. IMHO. just an idea.
Bant is not as competetive as it was before. I think IMO it should go to developing until further results.
Merfolk, Goblins, kithkins, faeries... should have a single thread IMO. because the "how to build the deck" is very similiar to each other, they're all the same IMO. we should call it "tribal" primer. now that is something new.
Just an idea IMHO though.

He might have been referring to the main category above multiples of decks, as in "aggro", "control", "combo". Putting Zombardment, Jund, and The Rock AS the same thread, that definitely makes no sense. Also I started BUG aggro but all I posted were decklists before submitting just so the thread wasn't blank as I started working on it, I didn't realize it would submit and no longer let me continue writing in it, in either case, I'm still working on it, but I'll either have to submit another one, now that I know how that works, or just keep updating / editing the one that went through if it gets put on the list and there's access to it, in either case, forgive the "early submission" I didn't realize it would do that.

Basically you're saying to merge all decks together than follow the same overall game plan. In that case, there should be only a very few threads:
Aggro
Control
Midrange
Combo
Ramp
Budget
Once you really get down to it, a lot of the decks are built with the same game plan in mind.
...I don't like this idea.
In regards to BUG:
I like two threads, but there are three main decks to consider:
I'm actually fairly sure that Shardless BUG discussion could be quite fruitful in the BUG Tempo/Aggro thread, considering you could classify it as tempo (the same way you could classify Doomsday Combo as control, I suppose) but that's the trick of it, isn't it.
So:
1. BUG Tempo/Aggro (TEAM/Shardless)
2. BUG Control
But I could see three disctinct threads opening up if the builds become distinct enough from eachother.
...which brings me to deadguy.
Deadguy Ale is an aggro//midrange deck.
BW/x (g or r) are control decks.
It's like Death and Taxes - a lot of people consider it to be an aggro deck because it's got a lot of critters that beat in for game... but every pilot will inform you that you're an idiot and will proceed to lock you out of the game while chucking x/1s and x/3s at you.
I think these two should have separate threads. Looking at them now, BW/x has turned into Junkblade (with a sprinkling of Team Italia) while Deadguy has turned into Mirran Crusader hates the format, die. These are no longer the same decks, in the same way that ANT and TES are no longer the same deck. (Clearly TES is superior. What's a bias?)
BW/x is not Deadguy, merfolk is not goblins, and death and taxes is not white weenie.

Ah forgive me then, I already made a finished one, now that I figured out how it worked based on earlier, I just opened up a document on my computer and worked on it there so I could save it every so often, but I was able to complete it and about 5 minutes before you posted the above message, I already submitted the complete one, sorry about that.
As far as the one that I did send in earlier that had much less information on it, feel free to delete that one, I was only sending it at all as a way to "save in progress" what I was doing, but the second submission I waited until it was complete. ^.^
I am now working on BUG control, however anything I think of as I'm going along I am also noting, so if the [Primer]s get approved I'll be adding more tidbits to them accordingly, and I'll add some pics to make it look more appealing, like a nice headline at the top and key stuff that's noted, etc. I'll also update the first post in it as often as I update my "metagame overview" that is "Tier Legacy decklists/prices/etc" which I at a minimum check over at least once a month.
I can work on Jund. I also have a MUD primer in works (to replace the smallish one we have) and one for NLT (which has not had huge results in the past few weeks unfortunately).
I think the BW Stoneblade and Deadguy can finally marry. The decks are now much less different. The major difference is the number of creatures at this point instead of things like Vial vs Walkers.
[Primer]BUG Aggro / Team America, and [Primer]BUG Control now submitted, now working on [Primer]BUG Midrange which will be submitted in the aggro section, where as BUG Aggro had more of a focus on Delver of Secrets and Tombstalkers, and BUG control had more of a focus on Engineered Explosives and planeswalkers.
Also if you're wondering, yes all archetypes have multiples of lists that all ran the new Deathrite Shamans and Abrupt Decays Aggro, mid-range or control.
I figured I'd get all the BUG variants out of the way since they are the biggest mess with all their different types.
-EDIT- 6:00 pm Pacific Time. Just in case it helps: BUG Aggro decks will almost always have Delver of Secrets in them, and no planeswalkers. BUG Midrange decks are where you'll find a home for Dark Confidant, but no delvers, you'll also find both planeswalkers and combat step effective creatures. BUG Control decks will always have planeswalkers in them, while their combat step effective creatures will be the weakest in these list, though creatures with tricks, like Snapcaster MageDeathrite Shaman and Vendilion Clique are still commonly ran, mostly do to their effects.
I think DGA and BW(g) StoneBlade should stay separate. I used to think otherwise, but the main DGA decks are now either simular to Durwood's list (Crusader is a boss plus support) and Vial lists. With Decay and DRS, BWg StoneBlade has been able to become more of a control deck than the aggro control deck it used to be because we finally can answer anything. I've killed people with DRS and Lingering Souls. No equipment. No aggro deck would do that. I would say:
Aggro:
Team America/Tempo BUG
BUG Midrange/Shardless BUG
DGA
BUG Midrange now submitted, completing Primers for all 3, BUG aggro, BUG midrange, and BUG control decks. Have 3/4 decklists posted in each, as well as explanations of all cards, sideboard cards and mana bases in each, including a short and to the point "mini" analysis at the top of each. Also added notes for basic strategies against Aggro / Combo / Control decks in 2 of the 3 Primers, but I didn't think to do this in the first one (BUG aggro) so it will be added provided of course, that the Primer is approved. Hope that takes care of the mess of BUG decks that might have been, buggin ha ha. ^.^
The primers won't be up until they are approved, the mod's just have to make sure they meet the standards required for the start of a primer, since the 1st post is something many people read.
Your thread is moved to legacy archives. I didn't want to delete it but I didn't want you to run off and just make a thread either. This discussion is what to do. No approval was made.
I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
Yea sorry I thought for some reason it meant you wanted people to submit a potential primer for those, I don't know how I confused that forgive me on that.
Possibly an odd request but if anybody has the knowledge would it be possible to get a doomsday primer?? Most of the threads ive found for it have been dead a while.
Team America and BUG Control Primera are Out of date.
Yes, read the OP. That's the point of this thread. How to move on, especially in regards to BUG archetypes, is a major point I am asking the community about.
I've spoken with Alteryoda via PM. Not sure where he is, but I'll C/P the convo. He has the counter-argument in that we could sustain 2 BUG archetypes rather than make a 3rd.
I'm not an expert of the global thoughts about this, but I'll share what I consider that could be a rule to organize this variability.
In my opinion, Snapcasters and Shardless are part of the Control Build. For me, there are 2 ways of control, the one with almost no creatures (it's more BUG Control) and the one with more of them.
The diference in gameplay is not that extreme as all of them play around stopping the ground in one or another way (Liliana or creatures) and they tend to win with a resolved Jace. Imho, there's the control and the übercontrol, if you know what I mean, but both are controlish. The Shardless one tends to run Ancestral Visions too, as a proof of its controlish side.
The same way, the BUG Tempo, with Nimble Mongoose, is another variant of the one that's most discussed now, with Deathrite Shamans and 2/3 Tombstalkers. These two decks fit in the same thread, they tend to play in the Team Amrerica's Old Style, like we are in the firsts turns of the game, so I see no reason to separate them.
I hope it helps.
A bit of thought for the discussion.
