I don't think this the idea you're going for is going to work, for what its worth. You're still like 10% against storm game 1, you have to be 70% games 2 and 3 just to have a 50/50 match. 4 force of wills, 1 daze, and 3 cannonists isn't getting you close to 70%. You're giving up a lot to turn a 30% match into a 40% match.
So, I came in 22nd at StarCityGames DC. My losses were to the mirror (mulligans to 5 both games, never saw a single piece of removal) and I can't remember the other. My draw was in round 1 against Junk.
I realized that with so much Maverick in the meta, the grove version is actually much better. You need the removal package to deal with it. When this was more of a fringe deck, I think G/W was definitely superior. Here's my new list:
Nice job Glurman. How did you feel with only two equipment maindeck? What are your thoughts on the Metamorph in the sideboard? I have long since cut it. Ditto with Thrunn.
Thrun is a good card in the mirror and against the Ux Aggro Control decks. I think it should still be in the 75. I think two equipment is correct if you are running 3 SFM. As for Metamorph, I haven't had the chance to use it yet.
On the "Bant" version. I think you are better off just not playing Force, as it requires too much strain on the deck. I played a Bant Stoneblade deck a while back that tried to use the GSZ package but it was to strenuous and I had to run too few blue sources. I think if you wanna play GWu you have to just touch on the blue.
If you're playing against storm combo, don't forget to always check for outs whenever you can! Whether it's saving that gsz for teeg, holding up swords to gain some life on your own guy, or even blowing up a key artifact with quasali pridemage!
I just recently won a game because I wrote down everything my opp ad neaseumed and figured out that if I blew up a chrome mox while the imprint was on the stack, he fizzled. As with all decks and all matchups; take your time and check for possible responses for every action!
What do you all think about putting in Thalia Mainboard, or perhaps in the SB? She's great, but I'm not sure if i want to be in one ofs if she cant be tutored. Thoughts?
I am playing her mainboard, she's especially good in my meta. Otherwise stick to Ethersworn Canonist.
Trying to get the cards for SCG Dallas (have had the list rarin to go for a while), but a couple of questions before I go grab what's left
1. Just how big is maverick, I get it's popular right now and according to the council, the deck to beat, if what glurman says is true, I may decide to run the punishing fire package or at least have it at the ready
2. How do you sideboard with Enlightened tutor, what do you guys typically take out, I haven't played with it at all, haven't tested it but looking at and mulling it over, it seems like the way to go (and given the results you guys have been putting up with it, I am inclined to at least try it once)

This isn't clear. This deck depends on a metagame where storm isn't strong. In October and November, we had a metagame that was dominated by Reanimator and RUG. These two decks are both bad matches for storm. As a result, storm was at an all-time low.
Maverick came in and capitalized on it's good matches against those two decks, it's good matches against the rest of the metagame, and the absence of storm.
Burning Grove Maverick was a step ahead by doing all of that, but sacrificing more against storm to improve the mirror.
So the question for Maverick is whether the metagame has spread to a place where Storm is viable again. Last week's results suggest that maybe it has. If so, this deck is going to be a little sad. If it hasn't, it's still probably the strongest deck to be playing.
Punishing Fire pretty much owns the traditional mirror. Elspeth also breaks the mirror pretty well too with her ability to give Knights evasion to get damage in. I definitley think G/W is strong, so if you want to stay G/W sideboard Surgical Extractions. They're good anyway and help in other matches so theyre not dead. Nic Fit is the deck that can eat this deck alive because of the tons of removal. Elspeth/Garruk help there as they are only hit by MPulse. Stoneblade should be a positive match as most any blue based control deck, but the Choke sideboard seems like it's worn its welcome and should be teched out by something else because its old. I recently tried the Sihlana Ledgewalker tech (before I had Troll Ascetic) but the cheaper casting cost is really good. Its when he's obviously gets equipped he might just win the game. Hexproof is really really hard for alot of decks to handle (remember Mongoose), let alone that can be equipped. I think the big thing now for the deck is trying to find a way to anticipate what will be big at the next even, finding some tech, and being well versed in the mirror as well as being careful about decks that were created to beat Maverick like NFit. Don't just waltz in there with the same old same old.
@TheJonny Your list seems to be heavy on 3cc+ spells apart from KotR (3 Aven, 2 Elspeth). I recommend at least cutting a Mindcensor and/or an Elspeth and adding a fetchland and/or Scryb Ranger in its place.
You only stop their GSZ + Cabal Therapy flashback, but you also stop us from using our own GSZ's + our Dryad Arbor fetch when you use it. I don't think it is worth a SB slot.
Yes, ONLY GSZ, cabal therapy, AND kitchen finks, birthing pod and most important recurring nightmare. Practically, it shut down their entire deck....
Kitchen Finks is often only run as a 1 of. Birthing Pod builds are slow. Recurring Nightmare is also a 1 of. Guess I also forgot to mention potential Sun Titan craziness, but you probably lost the game by then. I only mentioned the more common plays that you will see in game. Sorry if I was not clear on that.
In my list, I've cut 1 Scryb Ranger for 1 Silhana Ledgewalker, and added a pair of Garruks to the SB in anticipation of Deed decks and some midrange mirrors.
In some metagames (for instance, low amount of combo + reanimator) it doesn't make sense to play Enlightened Tutor and just stock up on other goodies (like Surgical, extra Canonist, extra removal, and attrition cards such as Elspeth/Garruk/Life from the Loam)
Be prepared for Smallpox and Deed decks too.

Maindeck looks legit, but I would consider the utility of Birds of Paradise. Your list has 4 other fliers and Ledgewalker for evasion, whereas if BoP was the 4th Noble Hierarch it wouldn't make a difference in the stock GW list. The exalted generally matters more. If you're anticipating StoneBlade decks, I would also increase the count of Qasali Pridemages maindeck. Lastly, the fetchlands all need to be able to fetch Forests. This is important for Dryad Arbor and against matches where you need to find a basic Forest ASAP for a stable mana base. I've tried the Plains-fetchers and always regretted it was not able to grab Forest.
SB looks good too, I like to run Thorn of Amethyst for exactly for reasons you listed.

Edit: @Glassjaw. Thanks for posting those vids. I enjoyed the matches. Regarding your match vs UW Stoneblade, was your opponent new to the deck? I wasn't sure why he would still have FoW in games 2 + 3 + casting early Brainstorms w/o shuffle effects.
