Didn't really care for AEther Vial in the deck, but am willing to put it back in (felt to slow), was liking noble hierarch, but with one card that needed blue mana (Rhox War Monk) and Qasali Pridemage's ability being much more relevant (I've seen countertop and stax running amock). Any thoughts?
With the GP coming up I am looking for my deck I want to play for the event. Granted, the meta will most likely shift my then, I was just wondering if the combo matchup for this deck is manage-able or just trash.

very manageable. Last tourney with maverick i went 4-1 facing 2x high tide, sneak and show, combo elves and burn. Loosing only to elves before top 8.
@fureak I think 2 maze of ith could be very bad for you. It's not something you want in your opening hand.
@koopa maverick is very good post board against combo. Just need to last long enough to get gaddock teeg or ethersworn canonist. Sometimes you can kill them fast enough main board.

Hey guys, I've been playing a GW Maverick-type list for about 2 years now. This is my deck at the time of this writing. Looking for critique, especially the sideboard.
I'm just wondering what we should do against Burn, since it's on the rise. If I can get a Jitte or Batterskull out fast enough, it's usually enough to hold on for the win. But if my hand doesn't have either those and/or a Stoneforge in it, I usually lose. Maybe replace something in the sideboard with a singleton Circle of Protection: Red or Warmth?
Also, what are people's thoughts on possibly cutting a creature or two for a singleton Thrun, the Last Troll maindeck?

I personally prefer Thrun over Goyf. He can't be countered, swords and my favorite he can't be mazed.
Your sb looks to focused on one type. Make use of your E. Tutors and add morr targets. With what you have now E. Tutor is almost useless because you run 3 of everything. Warmth sounds like a nice sb against burn. It almost negates all their spells.

Lifegain trumps circle of protection, Burn is designed to deal 20-23 damage over the course of 3-5 turns, anything that gives you life instantly stalls out or demolishes their plan, Warmth (as the above poster said) is better, you may consider a blue splash for Rhox War Monk if burn is really prevalent
Thanks guys. I will take the comments into consideration. I'll probably do what CRich3 suggested to my sb.
I do like the idea of putting Thrun in there, but I'm not sure about putting him in over Goyf. I like how Goyf is easily GSZ-able with 3 mana if I need a fatty out there fast, whereas it would take me 5 mana to GSZ for Thrun. But I will try out that switch and see how it goes.
Maybe it will be a good change considering the amount of blue-heavy tempo decks out there.
EDIT: Oh, I also suggested COP: Red because it has a dual function of dealing with Progenitus. As I understand it we're pretty much screwed in a MU where he hits the table, since Karakas can't deal with him.
I am making a list for the deck and I have room for two equipment and I am looking for opinions. I figured that Jitte and Batterskull are competing for the same spot, so I should only choose one, and Jitte seems better if my SFM dies, which is bound to happen so I think I am going to go with Jitte.
But then I have my other option, which Sword should I use? Feast and Famine is the default I guess but Body and Mind has more legitimate protection (blue and green?!?!) and Fire and Ice is always good. Thoughts?
Hello guys, I don't know if this is the right place to post this deck and to ask for sugestions and opinion. It's an effort to put together something between Maverick, BW Stoneblade and Junk/Rock so i cannot tell where exact this deck belong.
Basicly I want to play some Black splash for my favourite card - Dark Confidant together with 3 thoughtseize. Also want to utilize Aether Vial and Green Sun´s Zenith together. The deck is something like a creature toolbox with many Sb options with the help of Green Sun´s Zenith and Enlightened Tutor.
I too would also cut Aether Vial. I never really liked it much in Maverick builds. That might free up some space for another 1-drop, like Noble Hierarch or something. Also, why not Sylvan Library over Top? Besides, you've got Dark Confidant, which might be a good enough card draw engine in itself.

in the current metagame of delvers and bolts, i would opt for the sword of fire and ice. Not far behind would be of body and mind. Either sword that protect from blue is good. A birds of paradise carrying a SoFI is pretty dangerous in the current metagame.
Jitte over batterskull is a no brainer. I would add batterskull in the sideboard because in certains matchups that card is the nuts.
Hi, I'm new to Legacy but not to MTG here is the version of this deck I would like to play at an upcoming tournament. Your input will be appreciated, thanks.
You should try using enlightened tutor since a lot of your sb are artifacts. I would also consider Stoney Silence over null rod because it cheaper. Would help save money for duals. But 4 null rod and 4 Canonist is a bit much. Tormods Crypyt seems better than ravenous trap because you can tutor for it.

I am curious why SoFaF is the sword most people are using in this deck. Isn't SoFaI more relevant and better card advantage?
I have a few ideas why, not sure if it's correct just some guesses.
1. SoFF is newer and easier to get.
2. SoFF has protection from Goyf and discard is usually more relevant than a 2/2 for this deck.
3. Dismember has become very popular.
4. If I'm correct I think you can get a double activation by using made of ith and knight since you untap all your lands.

Edit: Does anyone play natural order anymore?
2 - You're thinking SoBaM not SoFaI (draw card and2 damage to target)
4 - You can't get a double activation from maze of ith because it remove the creature from combat ie: no trigger.
It's highly played to the effectiveness of both protections. SoFaI doesn't protect from widely played removal, and SoFaF is highly unlikely to blank for removal colors.
