Thanks a lot for the answer. I never even heard of a RUG Version of lands.
I think i will stick to the "classic" lands deck.
General question: How does the deck fare against combo? In the version i played so far i have 4 Sphere of Resistance in the SB. Is this the only real way to tax Storm and other combo decks?

Classic lands is actually the RUG version.
You can play more chalice of the void or thorn of amethyst as extras in your board.
RUG uses Intuition instead of Gamble, as well as Tolaria West plus Academy Ruins with an artifact package. It's a slower more controlish deck with more late game inevitably.
The deck predates the latest changes to the Legends rule (and the resultant Marit-Lage combo) by years.
Actually i am surprised how welcoming you guys are. I always thought Legacy players were sort of "elitist". As i play RG Tron in Modern i already own the groves/Life from the loam for the deck. Same for the chalices, Krosan grips, and a karakas + Maze i pulled out of some EMA Boosters.
I am actually considering buying into this deck as it does what i love: Dropping lands, swinging with big creatures with some sense of inevitability.
Question about the Taigas: Are Stomping Grounds a "fine" budget alternative? I am aware this deck wants to buy time and take as little damage as possible...

Word of advice: buy into the deck slowly. Proxy it up, and practice practice practice! This deck has a ton of little idiosyncrasies regardless of which build you end up playing.
As for Stomping Grounds...... eh. I mean, I guess it's okay. I'm sure you'll find after playing a few games with them that you REALLY want them to be Taigas.

No doubt about that, but stomping grounds are just way more affordable to me at the moment. Taiga will be on the menu at some point though.

Some of them are. Then again some Standard players are elitist when it comes to their attitude towards casual players or less experienced players or budget players. It all depends on the person.
Elitism is very impractical for Legacy players becuase most of us really just want more people to play the format.
A typical RUG list for me looks like this:
3 fetch
2 trop
1 taiga
1 bayou
1 forest
1 chasm
3 grove
2 twest
1 bog
1 karakas
1 academy
3 stage
4 waste
4 port
1 ghost q
2 dd
3 maze
1 tab
1 barbarian ring
1 zorb
3 intuition
1 crucible
3 pfire
4 loam
2 crop
4 exploration
4 mox
2 ee

That's a sig-worthy quote right there.
Also, that RUG list looks pretty close to what I've been running. Minus a Depths and a Stage because I am very lazy and haven't picked up any more apparently hate winning.
Slowly getting myself aboard the Lands train. While I'm new to the format, I'm an avid reader so gobbling up as much legacy strategy as I can. That said, sometimes watching a proficient Lands player stream would be useful, too. Anyone know of anyone that regularly streams Lands? Thanks crew!

So, after playing Lands this sunday at my LGS i have to say that i love the deck.
I got completely obliterated and went 0-3, only winning 2 matches but man i had a blast.
First round was against "Oops just spells". First match i killed the maniac with a punishing fire (Hooray for Mox Diamond). After that he just comboed out on Turn 1 and just wins.
Second Round was against Canadian Threshold, not sure though. He was playing Delver, Goyfs, Bolts.... Looked more like RUG Delver to me but he said it was Canadian Threshold... Basically he was just too fast for me to really get control over the game.
Third and last round was against Shardless BUG. Won a match off Marit Lage and got value cascaded the other (Agent hitting Visions, cast another agent hitting goyf)
So even though i got wrecked i really enjoyed playing the deck. Looking forward to playing some more Lands in the future
RUG Delver and Canadian Thresh should be the same deck. Oops all spells is an awful matchup. Expect to lose that one almost every time.
Against BUG, they are incredibly weak to just jamming the 20/20 into play, as their removal besides Liliana doesn't hit it and they cannot block besides Baleful Strix. They're also very light on counter magic, just 4 forces, sometimes 3.
This list did pretty well recently at an SCG Classic. It's worth noting it runs 2 copies of gamble and a RG type sideboard with more chalices. Big fan of the 3 EE.
What is the reason that so many lists only run 3 or 2 Dark Depths? I thought it is the main combo piece and you want to see it pretty much all the time? I get that being legendary makes it a diminishing return but that does not seem like a huge argument against running 4?

Deck space is really tight and drawing them in multiples is pretty bad. Plus you play crop rotations, gambles and in blue versions Tolaria West. Combine that with dredging multiple times and you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one. If they produced any sort of mana, it would be much more enticing, and not as bad in multiples.
Might be stupid but I could see a more blue based deck with the intact core being good. Was thinking of highlighting snapcasters with Volraths stronghold, brainstorm, daze, fow maybe. Make up for the loss of punishing with more abrupt decay and EE/ruins. Keep intuition and tolaria. Just a thought since snap is so strong and it'd give us better game against combo decks. Thoughts or additional card suggestions? Might give it a try at a local

Not dumb, just a different deck. Look up farmville.
I've been on 2 trops for almost 2 years now. It's been great since I dropped bob and made red sources for pfire more reliable. 5 targets for fetches is where I want to be and sb tracker reinforces the manabase. I usually fetch a trop first to setup a twest if I don't see an advantage hiding that I have blue. I've had 3 ee since TNN was on the scene. The past few weeks I've had 2 ee for a months for harvest, but 3rd ee is too crucial and more necessary to kill nights or goofs. 61st card was cut too.
Sweet. Don't care for black anymore since bob left, but looks okay. I very rarely used gq so I have yet to feel the need to use it again. It is useful in the mirror. I like at least 1 thicket to get the ball rolling and it helps Intuition piles move a bit faster than triple loam.

Ghost Quarter is such a pet card of mine. I don't think I can ever cut it. It's won me far too many games. I might try to find space for 1 thicket. Maybe cut the bayou? I've been liking decays a lot though. Killing a big goyf or something and having it be uncounterable is huge.
I'm with you Sparki, I could never cut Ghost Quarter. The look on your opponent's face when you start strip mining them is priceless.
I'll be trying the hybrid list this Sunday at a local 1k Qualifier for a Legacy Championship in the Spring. How have you guys liked Tireless Trackers? When do they get sided in? I've been a bit behind on legacy, I 've beeb focused on modern the last few months and more recently Frontier.

To me Lands was always RG, Marit Lage, Punishing Fire combo and taxing the opponent as hard as possible.
How does the RUG Version play? All i have seen so far is a Jund list which plays Decay/Thoughtseize etc. in the board.

Not going to lie, I used to think this, too. But not this thread - we all look after one another here. Maybe it's the novelty of the deck we play.
