Looks like there was 1 Death and Taxes list that went 7-1 at the SCG Invitational. There are a few interesting card choices.
Very interesting. The Aven Mindcensor and Mangara of Corondor are choices I'm a fan of mainboard. I really like the Sword of Light and Shadow and Holy Light in the side as well. What do you guys think of with Holy Light vs Ratchet Bomb? I chose ratchet bomb because I am also running 2x Enlightened Tutors in the sideboard. Holy light is faster unless you're getting rid of tokens. I see a lot of Red Elemental (Young Pyromancer) and White Angel (Entreat the Angels) tokens.
With Sword of Light and Shadow, do you think it's good enough against to justify a sideboard slot? I like the idea of being able to get back important pieces that can get blown up by lightning bolts and of course protecting from Swords to Plowshares.
I Haven't tried those builds but the addition Of 4 fetch and 2 Savannah seems to be the only difference. I believe they are replacing 6 plains. So something like
1 cavern
1 horizon canopy
4 plains
4 port
4 waste
3 karakas
4 white fetch
2 Savannah
I do 5 plains, 4 fetch, 2 Savannah, 1 Horizon Canopy, 3 Karakas, then the 4 Waste/4 Port. I'd actually rather not use Cavern of Souls in a Teeg build since "Kithkin" is not a great name for deck. I'd rather keep the white-mana stability as high as possible in a 2-color build.
If teeg is that essential to your game plan having cavern naming kithkin seems fine to me. You probably don't want him countered in those matches at the very least
He's never central is the thing. It plays 99% like mono-W DnT, but even two of them will help you pull out free match wins against a good chunk of decks because of the one game he showed up in. But it's a reliable 1 game out of 3 on the whole. Having a Cavern does bring you into the zone of only "8" regular Plains, however (4 fetch, 4 basics). If you're comfortable playing a mono DnT build with only 8 plains, then go for it. My personal cutoff is 9 so I exclude Cavern.
I have no experience, but I suspect that the matchup isn't that bad. Revoker shuts down Fatestitcher and most lists I've seen don't play many basics, so Wasteland will do a good job of keeping you safe from Wind Zendikon (and if you need to get cute, Flickerwisp will as well). Playing through Thalia may prove to be difficult for them as well, but I don't know how difficult it is for them to get a second mana creature into play. Basically, the main game plan works well against them already. The sideboard games may be a little tricky, as they have the capacity to bring in a lot of removal, but we also get more must-answer cards like Canonist. Overall, I feel that the matchup on paper is well in our favor, and I think Sam Black's sideboarded Sulfur Elemental from the Invitational is testament to that. I'd test to see for myself but I've been taking a break since the GP, so I got nothing myself.

Grafdiggers cage, rest in peace, Thalia, priest, revoker, pithing needle, cannonist, swords. I suppose in teeg builds if you're shutting down treasure cruise that will limit the sheer amount of cards they can actually draw to keep there hand full from looting effects.
For those of you with premium, this showcases the power of Jeskai Ascendancy. In one game, Brad wins through a Thalia, Mother of Runes, and I think a Spirit of the Labyrinth was the final card. Fun fact: Fate Stitcher says tap or untap target permanent, meaning it can be used to tap our Mom and follow it up with a removal spell.
Let's remember though, Jeskai Ascendancy is a tri-color noncreature card. If any deck has a way to stop it from hitting before setting up enough annoying taxes, it's this one. I've only played one match against the build with DnT, but it was a blowout in my favor since he never was able to get anything going.
I watched that vs video and it seriously looked like Brian kept some sketchy hands "not knowing" the match up because they were ok In most. He also kept a 3 plow hand because it had stoneforge and maybe a Thalia. Aside from that he had vial maybe 1 game and was mana screwed horribly in at least 1 with mana flood in another if I remember correctly. So that was a poor representation of how the match up can/should go. Brad also had 2 or 3 bolts each game pretty much from the get go.
I have never really had trouble with that match up. Revoker is good for vial and incinerator, thalia having first strike tends to be relevant in combat damage, equipment for us can be backbreaking for them, really depends on how well we can tie up their mana and how explosive they can be. I would definitely say it is favorable for us though.+
Goblins has a way of surprising you. The main reason they are able win is Pyrokinesis. They generate so many free cards that the 'pitch' is nothing to them. I got knocked out of Top8 at a tourney on Sunday by Goblins in a game 3. I had him dead next turn with 2 Wisps, he whips out a PyroK and suddenly I have no board. Of course, to add insult to injury, Teeg was my next topdeck, bahhh.
If they don't draw that card, we are probably favored, but their variety of removal certainly makes it tough.
I'd say we are 70/30 favored against Gobbos, the main reason being our entire maindeck hates them very hard already, and any sideboard card we bring in (Containment Priest anyone?) is just icing on the cake. We can still fold to a very explosive start without a Thalia to stop their Piledriver for 9, but the game 1 is extremely easy otherwise, if you Revoke Gempalm they have very little removal left.
Same thing goes for Merfolk, Vial is a beating in that matchup, and it's certainly much better for us than for them.
I just tested without avenger yesterday and it may have cost me a game against mud since I couldn't get the last 2 points of damage through wurmcoil engine
Unfortunately Jeff never got to try this list because he got knocked out of the tourney before the legacy portion. This was what he registered, based on the other deck lists I think he had a chance to do well.
Honestly much of that meta it really wouldn't have mattered as much. Sneak and show and reanimater were in decent numbers so that would've been good regardless of the avenger/spirit switch. Other than that it really isn't too much stronger in most of the match ups that it would have had. Personally against infect and delver I like a creature that can absorb more damage due to forked bolt, I also like a creature that can fly and carry equipment better which makes it a better blocker, etc against both decks. All that aside, I definitely think spirit makes for a good piece of disruption for some of their spells, but I still like avenger lately more than having spirit.
Which was also in said Maverick's sideboard.
