I recently picked up playing this deck and at least for me Blood Moon is what makes this deck worth playing. There are so many BUG and JUND decks running around a turn two blood moon is just crazy. Who cares about abrupt decay if these deck cant cast it. The trick is to just disable the deathright shaman with a revoker and your golden. Anyways the following list is what I have been playing. I absolutely love 8x Blasts main and the two active volcanoes in the board. I also upped the land count to 20 for Koth. He can act as bolts once he reaches 5 counters since your lands become a win condition, which I feel is important against decks that play Eldrazi.

You could probably transition into a Welder Stax type deck but I think that is just bad. Your SB (or any SB for that matter) needs to be able to beat a variety of decks. iPainter has a good MU against any decks with greedy mana bases. We don't have too many terrible match ups other than Sneak Show but Welder Stax doesn't have a better MU vs. it.
While I was playing in a local Legacy this weekend I went 1-3-1. Heres the break down
Round 1 vs BUG
Game 1 I'm on the play and I keep a hand with a SSG, Sol land and Blood Moon.
I play and he scoops.
Game 2 I have to mull down to 6 with no turn 1 BM. over the next few turns he manages to get a decent board presence, with a goyf, delver, and a DR Sham.
I land a BM turn 4-5 and start drawing into all of my reb and pyro with a painter in play. I start to widdle down his board and he eventually scoops.
1-0
Round 2 a firend playing ANT
Game 1 turn 2 BM doesn't matter because he knows im on the plan. he fetched up a basic island first so im screwd either way. he then combos and kills me.
-2 REB +2 Trinisphere
Game 2 I don't even see my SB cards, and he kills me with empty the warrens.
1-1
Round 3 vs Sneak n Show
Game 1 takes very little time and hes able to fetch up a Island in resp to my BM.he then plays a metric ton of cantrips into more islands into sneak attack and then emrakul griselbrand ftw. damn
-4 Grindstone -1 other card +3 ensaring bridges +2 Koth of the hammer
and let me tell you its almost as good of a feeling as turn 1 BM
-2 cards +2 phyrexian revoker
Game 3 Takes for ever and I have to get a judge to come over and move his friends away from the table because I don't speak enough of the local language. it eventually goes to time but I couldn't prove that he was stalling and I would have killed him with a painter and a revoker with reb and pyro counter back up. draw
1-1-1
i don't remember much of the next two but round 4 was another BUG deck with counters and more creature kill than the first. He was also the friend of the sneak and show guy and recived a warning as soon as he sat down across from me.
round 5 was my other friend playing storm....yeah he got me good.
all in all i think the only changes that id make are some sb slots.
What I ran:
[CARD]
4 Surgical Extraction
3 Ensnaring Bridge
2 Trinisphere
2 Phyrexian Revoker
2 Koth of the Hammer
1 Jaya Ballard, Task Mage
1 Tormod's Crypt
[/CARD]
and i cant think of the last card
what i want to play and why
3 Ensnaring Bridge
3 Trinisphere (because our storm match up is soooo bad)
2 Phyrexian Revoker
2 Pryoclasm (for small full boards mostly BUG this would have helped me a LOT in the game that I lost)
[CARD]
2 Koth of the Hammer
[/CARD]
Yes this guy he is AWSOME when you bring in the bridges.
1 Tormoyd's Crypt
1 REB (for me this is the 8th one and I'd run it due to counterbalance, UB miracles, and stoneblade
[CARD]
1 Jaya Ballard, Task Mage
[/CARD]
(this girl is freakin house. I did get her on line twice I belive and when I did there was a lot of snickering around me. then not long after the laughs died down as she helped me control the board.)

yes but it has a good chance of killing goyf and its only 6 if you want to hit everything in which case can kill several critters and we have a good chance of getting all 6 mana to cast it

Hey, Just had a question on the choice of lands for this deck... so the two colorless lands are really to ramp, but then they goal is to just turn then into mountains so you won't have to sac and continue to take 2 dmg?
Sorry, new to legacy and want to build this deck. Thanks!
Yes they ramp for you and yes sometimes they end up being mountains or other times you end up doing so much dmg to your self they help your opponent and you die. but that has not happened to me yet.

Has anyone been running this lately? One of the few legacy decks I'm considering putting together. Playing Maverick currently and kind've want a combo deck that's interesting. ^^
I feel like Koth may be better than the Wurmcoil as an alternate wincon, but a friend was borrowing the only one I own until recently so I haven't tested it as of yet.

I think the deck is not at its best right now. DRS makes Blood Moon effects much worse and the best thing about this deck is playing an early blood moon and just winning.
So after forever and a day and my friend nagging the hell out of me I'm posting my list and the results and MU as best I can remember. (My toddler ate my notes).
I ended GP Strasbourg 5-4 and I think for games I went 10-10.
Round 1 Reanimator
Both games ended very fast. I landed blood moon both time before turn 3.
1-0
Round 2 Jund
Won game 1 with a blood moon. Was to slow for game 2. Game 3 was really long and very close with me getting the combo out for the win.
2-0
Round 3 Stoneblade (I think)
Game 1 I land blood moon and he doesn't draw into more than 2 basic's 1 island and 1 plains. It takes me a while to get everything together because for some reason I'm drawing tons of lands. I end up killing home with a recruiter equipped with the metemorph acting as a batterskull. Game 2 he gets ahead o me with a batter skull again but I can't catch up win for him. Game 3 would have been his. We both start off slow and I'm drawing no lands (go figure right?). I try to do welder shenanigans like I did game 1 but he plays a rest in peace to shut me off. I have something like grindstone, SSG, pyroblast and recruiter in hand. With 2 mountain I play. I thought for a second at the end of his turn after he played the rest in peace an had to call a judge to make sure grindstone would kill him with RIP in play. The judge couldn't tell me that would win me the game but he did tell me that the criteria would not be met. That's all he said. I top decked a land and he did not counter my grindstone so that was game.
3-0
Round 4 counter balance
I honestly don't remember much more than game 3 I had two active grindstones and 6 mountains so I was grinding him for 4-8 cards a turn and win. It made him pretty mad.
4-0
By this time I. Freaking stoked. It was hands down the BEST I have ever done in magic let alone legacy.
Round 5 WUR Delver
I got stomped. I could not keep up at all.
4-1
Round 6 RUG
Again stomped out HARD. To fast for me to keep up.
4-2
For those that don't know in order to make day two I needed to be 7-2. So by now my dreams are headed into the crapper. But I play on.
Round 7 Dark Depths/Vampire Hexmage/Living Wish.....?
Game 1 was.... Different a couple misplays on both our sides but I beat him 2-1. My fire d told me this officially made me a "dream crusher"
5-2
Round 8 BUG
Bug is not in our favor unless we land a VERY early blood moon. I think I was more tierd than my opponent because I attacked with a welder and a servant into a DRS. Had I not I would have won that game. Which in turn cost me the match.
5-3
Round 9 combo elves
I didn't care to much to play anymore and forgot to write drop on my result slip. He won 2-1 with almost no effort.
I understand that there are spelling g and grammatical erros and no deck tag but I'm doing this from my phone at my work desk late at night. If anyone doesn't understand why I ran what I ran in what numbers please ask ill do my bet to remember for you.
Reading over that. I am under the impression that you won game 3 with a stone and RIP. As far as I know the two don't combo. Stone checks the collar of the cards revealed and does not care where they land.
4 Grindstone
2 Ensnaring Bridge
3 Sensei's Divining Top
Moons
4 Blood Moon
2 Magus of the Moon
Creatures
2 Phyrexian Revoker
4 Imperial Recruiter
4 Painter's Servant
4 Goblin Welder
1 Jaya Ballard, Task Mage
2 Koth of the Hammer
Blasts
4 Pyroblast
4 Red Elemental Blast
Lands
4 City of Traitors
9 Mountain
4 Ancient Tomb
3 Great Furnace
2 Active Volcano
4 Relic of Progenitus
4 Pyroclasm
4 Shattering Spree
1 Tormod's Crypt
I was playing this deck:
2 Academy Ruins
4 Ancient Tomb
2 City of Traitors
4 Great Furnace
4 Volcanic Island
4 Seat of the Synod
4 Brainstorm
4 Gamble
4 Force of Will
2 Ponder
2 Pyroblast
2 Red Elemental Blast
Artifacts
4 Grindstone
4 Lion's Eye Diamond
2 Mox Opal
Creatures
4 Goblin Welder
4 Painter's Servant
But I actually like yours better, although I do miss Lion's Eye Diamond being an easy three mana. Your version is certainly less expensive.

The main issue is that a key card was 300 US for a long time.
The judge foil should allow people to try the deck easier now.

It should go down. And its still half of the other version. Nothing else in the deck costs too much.
It may hit a bottom of 75 imho eventually.
Anyways, I still think the deck is solid and the local player of this to me has been having some moderate success.
