So is there any reason to pick up some number of Enchanter's Bane ? And ive noticed a few lists and people mentioning flame rift again... has it fallen back in favor?
Enchanter's Bane is pretty niche and weak at what it does, and the effect is rarely necessary in Legacy. I wouldn't bother.
As for Flame Rift, it pays to have a set. It's one of my least favorite burn spells; but when you simply need big packets of efficient, direct damage; you don't do much better.
Lol death's shadow. Seems pretty easy to wreck with burn if they're going out of the way to power out a big Death's Shadow. Miracles seems a lot easier to play against now that they can't countertop lock us. The only deck I've been having trouble with is DNT and it's mostly just because I can't draw enough answers for their threats most of the time despite running 4 Smash and 3 Searing Blood in the SB.
Are there any special lands for burn? I'm kind of tired of basic lands.
Fetch Lands for Lavamancer and a Single Taiga for sideboard options that hit artifacts and enchantments. Have to have an out against Laylines.

In my experience, we don't need to care about leylines. No well-designed legacy deck (the ones that will do well at GP's and such) is actually running them. Even if we do come across some scrub that does run Leylines in the board, we can still probably get there with our creatures and non-targeted burn.
In conclusion, we lose more win % to decks that run Wasteland than we gain against decks that run Leyline of Sanctity.
I play online almost exclusively at this point and i find that i run into a much wider variety of decks then i ever did when i played at stores in paper.
Last week over the course of 1 day playing i lost to a dark depths, 2 different matches to glacial chasms and im pretty sure to a tabernacle (although maybe i misplayed that last one....)
Point is, i hate just auto loosing when a single card hits the table.
I took out 3 mountains and put in 3 wastelands.
Ive probably played around 40 matches since then. Ive lost a few times because the wasteland wasnt a mountain. 2 that i remember right now, and probably a few others.
But the wasteland has been really helpful way more times then that. In addition to taking care of the few pain in the ass lands i mentioned earlier, these are some other fun things ive done with it:
Delayed hymns, delayed jaces, taken away a blue mana for counterspell, killed mishras factory, stopped stp and or disenchant for a turn or 2.....
Does anyone have thoughts on or more experience with wasteland?
Also...recently im finding games are going much longer then they used to. Counterspells, life gain, discard, land destruction....maybe its the meta or maybe its just something im doing wrong, but im frequently finding myself in games that go 7, 10, 12 turns....i lost to some kind of blue control deck on turn 16 the other day...
Im trying out some bomat couriers to put more cards in my hand.
I took out lava spikes to fit them. I started with 3 and am now running 2.
Theyve flat out won me 3 games that i can recall, as in sacd them and played the cards under them for the win immediately. They've been helpful a bunch of times, and i dont think i ever lost a game directly because the courier wasnt a lava spike.
Any thoughts on or experience with bomat couriers?
Basically im trying to make my deck more resilient against a wider variety of decks.
Thanks for your thoughts

Ps....anyone reading this who doesnt play online totally should. The burn deck costs very little to buy and there's only a 1 time small fee to wizards to play. And its really good
Ive been playing magic for over 20 years in some really populated areas and ive never seen a consistently high level of play like i do online.
Its like playing in a game store, but with thousands of people who youve never met and whose deck youve never seen.
And the cards are so cheap compared to their paper versions, people can really play the decks they want.
I dont think i can overplay how high the level of competition is
Plus, with the thousands of players that are registered online, id like to think that wizards looks at some of the data from its online game. Maybe if all of a sudden 1000 new people are playing burn decks online wizards will print some sick new burn cards.

My decks. Feel free to make suggestions. The Precious B___U___G___R___W
As for Wastelands, they used to be part of Burn when we ran more spells with colorless mana costs. Now, we don't, and as such they're not very helpful in providing mana. In effect, they are spells, and need to be treated as such. If that seems like a good decision to you, go for it.
As for the metagame being slower, well, it is. DSD has chased away all the combo, leaving us with fair decks, and the control decks are starting to dominate. It's a good time to play Burn.
After seeing burn go X-1 in a legacy challenge, plus already having all of the cards, I am considering taking burn to eternal weekend next month. I probably won't play the main event, but could definitely play 3-4 side events with it. No pun intended, but I am starting to be burnt out on modern burn after the pptq season.
Do you just kinda scoop to show and tell variants without karakas?
Yeah, you kinda scoop to SnT and Reanimator regardless of Karakas. If you get lucky it may buy you a turn but, generally speaking, it's not good enough and doesn't really work within the main plan. I prefer Bridge, since at least that card is versatile and can be used against lots of opponents. Other specialized options in the vein of Karakas include Stingscourger, Ashen Rider, and Monkey Cage.
Hey guys, been a while. I've been busy. I've finished off my Legacy burn deck to more or less extent. I have some cards on the way that'll be here by Monday, so I've included them in this list. I'm planning on participating in the MTG North American Legacy Championship November 1-4. I'm not sure what to expect but looking at some past Legacy events, I'm assuming there's a chance I'll see a lot of blue, which is a horrible match up against me in almostEVERY format. However I am expecting more control (likely Grixis), Miracles, likely Dredge, personally but I'd like to be prepared in general. Here's my deck and side deck, my extras I'm thinking of using too, and would like some help to prepare for next month...
I'm thinking once I have those, drop S2S down to 3, Exquisite down to 2, putt in 2 Tormod's Crypt (for Storm & Dredge), not sure how to get Faerie Macabre in if I'll run it at all. Maybe use one Tormod's Crypt and two Faeries.
I had a really interesting conversation recently about Risk Factor, I think solely because it is the first real punisher card in a long time that is seeing play in maybe forever. Basically a pal of mine contends it is viable for burn in legacy because it covers off on one weakness that browbeat had, which is consistency.
It is almost always going to be Draw 3 for 3 when you play it, and if your opponent is in a position to take 4 you are very likely in a very bad spot that game anyway. The consistency piece of it comes into play when you consider that one of those cards you will draw will be another Risk factor because of the Jump-start, which means that it will turn a "useless land" into action. Note that to me, useless land is really only applicable if you draw 2 of them, since you almost certainly want access to more mana if you are in a position to be drawing cards. Obviously this card feels more relevant against pure control/permission decks because you can try to race them on cards, but I don't feel as if permission on that level really exists to any extent in the format, plus Exquisite Firecraft plays a bit of that role already.
So my counter argument to this argument was that if burn draws 3 cards and cannot close the deal the turn after, what the hell are 3 more going to really do after you just spent 2 full turns spending all your mana? Red has card draw options it already mostly does not use, and drawing more cards has always been a secondary consideration to the Damage/mana cost/card efficiency balance the deck tries to achieve. This turned into this big discussion about card draw options for burn.
Anyway, without going into the whole thing, my gut feeling is that this card still just simply does not do enough for it's mana cost, even in matchups where it is well positioned. If it cost 2 mana I think it could have been close because you would be able to play other spells on other turns and get any CA from it early enough for it to be relevant. I am a person who fully believes punisher cards "CAN" be good if they are over the top enough, and Vexing Devil has seen play, but ultimately I just do no think this card can have any legs in a format with so many other options.
I would say no to risk factor. If you are in a situation where both options would lead to a win, you probably would have won by just drawing a burn spell. If you are up against blue and both would lead to a win, it will be countered. If you are up against another fast deck, they'll just base it on whether they can win on the next turn or not. I'd rather race.
I updated my sideboard, my decks on this page. I'm still expected Dredge and blue.
Also: Is there a difference between Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast? I've read the MRP for them, I DO NOT see a difference. but that just might be not fully comprehending the cards. Can someone tell me if there's a difference?
The most significant difference is usually that if you play Bridge, you can just chuck Pyroblast at any permanent for no effect to empty your hand, while with REB you're stuck until you find a blue target. Other minor differences may include hitting targets like Phantasmal Image (which can occasionally copy nonblue targets) and susceptibility to Divert or Misdirection.
I had a really interesting conversation recently about Risk Factor, I think solely because it is the first real punisher card in a long time that is seeing play in maybe forever. I would like the card a lot more if it's mana cost was 2 instead of 3. 3 mana is such a big deal with burn.
One of the arguments I had over this card was that if they let you draw 3 one of the upsides is that you can draw into Fireblast so maybe you can get the most of your mana that way, but if that's the case you will not be Jumpstarting the card, in which case Browbeat would have done the same or maybe even have been better since it threatens one more life on it's own.
I run a singleton draw card in my 75, Dangerous Wager. Part of the reason it works out is because I can draw into Fireblast sometimes, but it is only because it costs 2 mana that I can justify playing it since sometimes It'll draw me bolt and fireblast on 3 which is often game, at least in that scenario.

First off you can't run 8 of a card. Second off, I highly recommend 4 x Searing Blood
I also started running fetches and Lavamancers. I split the Lavamanceers and Swiftspears 2 and 2.
I'd also play at least 2 Ensnaring Bridge in the SB. I also started running 1 Taiga and Enchantment/Artifact hate in the side.
You're pretty close!

So I had to go on my Facebook to find my posts. BUT I found it and would like to report how I did on November 1-4 at Card Titan.
I played in a Modern side event, took 3rd place I was using Auras. I tried a Legacy Trials and went 0/5. NOT a good way to start. But instead of doing what I ALWAYS do, switch to a new deck the day of an event, I chose to stay with mono red burn. Here's my deck list...
I haven't seen this deck on MTG, at least at the time, so I had no idea how it plays. Didn't help EVERY SINGLE CARD IN HIS DECK WAS IN CHINESE! Because I have no idea how the deck plays or what to do against it, I QUICKLY lost in two. Through out the day, I asked everyone I lost to what they sided in for me and showed what I sided, asked if they'd help me learn to fight their decks. Everyone was really nice.
Sided: Forgot what I sided completely.
Round 2: BUG Delver 0-1 (won in 2)
I never knew that burn would EVER get a bye. Because this was a fast 2/0. Although in round 2, my butt started clenching as my Flame Rift were getting countered and at one point, lost two lands to Fireblast however I hung in with 2/2 Goblin Guide walls until they eventually got Doom Bladeed and Delver of Secrets flipped, I drew into my Exquisite Firecraft and that sealed the game.
On a side note, I forgot a trigger for Eidolon of the Great Revel, a judge was watching after we had a timing question. Told me I'd get a warning and next infraction was instant round loss. What a ******.
Round 3: G Dark Depths 1-1
At the story I play at, NO BODY plays this. I had no idea how to fight this deck. I have no side deck options, I just sided in Pyrostatic Pillar which did help greatly. But Nature's Claim is a card =/ Forgot about it's existence, oh well. The guy said that it hurt to say it, but DD VS Burn, DD usually gets the bye. He told me fire off as fast and hard as I can.
MUCH loser than I thought they'd be, I got my opponent into Lightning Bolt territory for both games but in game one he came into a Chalice on one, but then I'd see Batterskull in game 2 and couldn't draw into a Smash to Smithereens. Luckily the guy saw what I sided in and out, felt I did right with just Smash as that's all I put in. Told me in both games, if I shoved a lump of coal up his poop chute, he'd make a diamond in ten seconds. This guy was FUNNY. He ruled.
Finally: my boy Alex Bertoncini responds to me on Facebook, we're reporting how we're doing, and he's actually impressed I'm doing as well as I am at my first major legacy event!
Round 5: Miracles 1-3 (Won in 2 but said won in 3)
I don't see why this deck gets played as Sensei's Diving Top is banned. I personally don't think it has much consistency. However it was a fun play, we enjoyed each others company, I offered to get drinks, he revealed he's 20, blue city for me :'(. All jokes aide, this one was best of 2 but I had so much fun, asked if I can make it best of 3, he agreed. We showed each other how to answer each other using what we had.
Round 6: Blood Moon 1-3 (won in 2, said it was in 3)
I hate to say it, but another REALLY easy win for burn. I can't remember what he sided for me, but it wouldn't have helped him. This guy was also really good sport. We finished really fast and had time to BS and just take a dump over movies we didn't like such as Eragon & Green Lantern, the four guys around us chimed in every so often with their hatred for movies. My opponent thought about dropping, I convinced him not to drop since he paid $80, he ay as well keep playing for the rest of the day. He agreed to keep going at least for a bit.
Sided: Nothing
At this point a judge noticed I was using a Mikssa, from Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin, someone else must have had as it left little to the imagination if she was a camel toe or not, and he threatened to throw me out of the tournament. Luckily, I kept a level head and told him I never saw him before, I never talked to him before. Several other judges said nothing about it, nor did my opponents. I also didn't understand why he's being overly aggressive with me all day and asked if I should go talk to the Head Judge & Event Organizer about my mat and his attitude. He immediately calmed down and I put away my mat and used my blood moon mat the rest of the event.
Round 7: VS Miracles 3-3 (Won in 2)
Same as last time, I encouraged the guy to not drop from the event and keep playing. He said he would, I saw him the next day, I assume he didn't drop.
Sided: Same as before.
Talked to Alex a little on FB, he was doing 4-2 which is nice.
Round 8: VS Dark Depths, again. 4-3 (lost in 2)
I hate this deck, enough said.
Round 9: VS Grixis Delver 4-4 (lost in 2)
He BARELY pulled out a win, got him to 1 and he top decks enough burn to kill me. Game 2, I mulliganed down to 5 and kept 2 land, 2 Eidolon, 1 Rift Bolt. I suspend Rift, end, he Thoughtseize's an Eidolon, turn 2 I cast Eidolon, he casts Fatal Push and that's all she wrote =/
Sided: Forget, sorry.
End of Day 1 with a record of 4/5, I'm hoping for a strong finish on Sunday with 6/5, rather have been 7/4. But I'll take a positive record in general.
Round 10: VS ??? 4/5
My opponent no showed =/
Rounde 11: 5/5 VS Deadguy's Ale (lost in 3)
OKAY! So I had a rematch! I promptly forgot how to side, but I MUCH better this time dragging it o game 3 but I could draw into enough S2S as I go rid of Jitte and Skull, dude ran a second Skull WTF if you ask.
Sided: 3x Smash -3 Lava Spide, I forgot to trade Sulfuric for Guides. Had I done that, I'd LIKELY have won game 3.
So I went 5/6. I don't think I did have bad for my first event! First off,I NEVER drop. rather I pay $5 for a tournament or $80, I WILL always play to a bitter end, which is how it always is. It was a great even, lots of friendly people unlike Geekdrone up here in Pittsburgh, those guys are asses and need to suck a donkey. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun. Sadly, I had to sell ALL my magic to try and help my mom save her house. I didn't and now I'm out 90% of all my stuff, save clothes, PS4 & Computer. So with that...

Also: Is there a difference between Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast? I've read the MRP for them, I DO NOT see a difference. but that just might be not fully comprehending the cards. Can someone tell me if there's a difference?

I would like the card a lot more if it's mana cost was 2 instead of 3. 3 mana is such a big deal with burn.

4x Eidolon of the Great Revel
4x Goblin Guide
4x Monastery Swiftspear
Sorceries/Instznts 28
4x Chain Lightning
4x Fireblast
4x Flame Rift
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Lava Spike
4x Rift Bolt
4x Price of Progress
20x Mountain
1x Grafdigger's Cage
2x Exquisite Firecraft
2x Faerie Macabre
2x Sulfuric Vortex
2x Pyrostatic Pillar
3x Pyroblast
3x Smash to Smithereens
Round 1: WB Deadguy's Ale (lost in 2)
I haven't seen this deck on MTG, at least at the time, so I had no idea how it plays.
Sided: +3 Pyroblast, +2 Sulfuric Vortex, out -4 Lava Spike & =1 Goblin Guide
Sided: +2 Sulfuric Vortex & +2 Pyrostatic Pillar -4 Lava Spike
Round 4: Eldrazi 1-2 (lost in 2)
MUCH loser than I thought they'd be, I got my opponent into Lightning Bolt territory for both games but in game one he came into a Chalice on one, but then I'd see Batterskull in game 2 and couldn't draw into a Smash to Smithereens. Luckily the guy saw what I sided in and out, felt I did right with just Smash as that's all I put in. Told me in both games, if I shoved a lump of coal up his poop chute, he'd make a diamond in ten seconds. This guy was FUNNY. He ruled.
Sided: +3 Smash to Smithereens, -3 Lava Spike
Sided: +2 Sulfuric Vortex, +2 Pystatic Pillar, +2 Pyroblast, -4 Lava Spike, -2 Goblin Guide
Props:
Everyone WILLINGLY show me what they sided in and out then advised me what to do.

I wonder with the number of 3 mana bolts we have at this point what does this even replace, if anything?
I suspect it may be better than rift bolt but because it has a 3CMC it helps dodge Cotv so it may be better than Lavaspike in some matches.
It may also be that since we have so many 1 mana bolts now it may just be better than running dorks in the amounts we are.
Exciting possibilities.
