Tempo Thresh (assuming the G/U/R version) goes by either "Canadian Threshold" on MTGTop8 or more casually "RUG Delver". I prefer the later being the red-blooded Murican that I am SCG may have called it Temur but I'll leave the "tribal" names to the standard community.
Played in my first SCG yesterday and decided that RUG Thresh was what I wanted, even if I only had it up for a week. I didn't do very well going 2-6 for the day. My wins were against Infect round 1 and again in round 5. My losses were to Bug Delver 2-1, DnT 2-1, 4 Color Craziness 2-0, Storm 2-0(which I got a game loss for being late because my opponent demanded I get one even though no one had started yet) Rug Mirror 2-1, and I don't remember what it was but it was a 2-1 loss.
I ran the stock list with 2x Gitaxian Probe in the main. From testing it was lights out. At the SCG, it was the worse card in the 60. I'm going to switch it to 1 Dismember and 1 Fire//Ice. I can't see 2x Dismember being great and Fire//Ice is one of my favorite cards. I'm sure I made a good chunk of mistakes being new with the deck. My siding looking back on some of those games were just awful. I didn't bring in Ancient Grudge vs Dnt, I sided in Submerge by mistake vs the 4 color deck which wasn't worth it.
The biggest problems I had all day-
True-Name Nemesis. I'm really not sure what to add to the 75 to help with this. Every game it hit board, I lost. I was racking my brain all ride home and just never came up with a good answer for the little guy.
Batterskull. Every time they would play it I would never see a Stifle or a Ancient Grudge. I don't feel like it is the worst thing to worry about because I have stuff sided for it and never saw it. But none the less, it wreaked me all weekend.
Over/Undervaluing. This was my first real tournament with the deck. I'm sure the people I played against could see that with some of my play choices. It was nice after the matches a lot of the players would tell me what they thought I did funny and want me to explain the thinking. The RUG player had a nice talk with me after game one explaining some of the counterwars I got into were wrong. The BUG player explained to me my mistakes. Fixing this comes with time so I'm okay with this but need to understand what really is a problem for RUG to deal with.
Gitaxian Probe. I thought this card was great in testing. I was wrong.
Boarding out Force of Will in games 2/3. I could never really commit to doing it even though I see many players recommend you do. I feel safer when I have a Force in hand. I'm still new and use Force as a safety net.
My sideboard? My board was Grafdigger's Cage, Pithing Needle, Pyroblast, Red Elemental Blast, Ancient Grudge, Null Rod, Rough//Tumble, Sylvan Library, Winter Orb, Izzet Staticaster, Sulfur Elemental, Sulfuric Vortex, True-Name Nemesis, Vendilion Clique, Submerge. I see a lot of lists ran the Sylvan Library but never thought of a match were it would be necessary. I should have boarded in the Sulfuric Vortex more than I did looking back. I'm not sure the Vendilion Clique needs to be in there and might come out for another Submerge. I liked everything else.
This was a great experience for me and makes me want to play this as my main deck going forward. It is a much harder deck to pilot than my buddy made it look a year ago when I first started getting into Legacy.

Commander - Master of the Drunkin' Arts:D(no longer together)
Skullcrack and Pyroblast for TNN. Skullcrack is actually a very bad solution but it might help you out as you acclimatize to RUG Tempo.
If you're losing to slow grindy control lists with TNN it's not because of TNN it's because you let the slow, grindy control list get out to the point that it could drop TNN safely. If you're losing to the 1-of TNN's in various lists, well that's probably also due to not knowing exactly how to sit on somebody with RUG early on until they can't play the game and lose to your beater.
Hey everyone! I'm still relatively new to the deck, so I thought I'd post my list and get what feedback I can. I'm running the classic 54 plus the following:
I've been having a lot of trouble with Delver Mirrors - particularly Patriot Delver. I believe this sideboard will allow me to deal with a fairly wide variety of decks. What do you guys think? Am I missing anything?

I need some help with my sideboard....
I play D&T all the time and i am having trouble when they slam down batterskull.
The troubl im having is that I have to MANY cards I could see coming in against D&T
I also play against miracles, infect and maverick on a consistent basis also
Krosan Grip for Batterskull. It's 3cc and hard to cast early but that's not the problem with Batterskull. It also can come in to give you some chances against Chalice of the void and Trinisphere.
I played RUG to a 4-0 (8-0) victory at my local store yesterday (vs Miracles, Aggro Loam, Shardless and Deathblade). We normally have a lot of decks that are hostile to RUG (Lands, aggro loam, shardless and a fair bit of miracles) so I decided to metagame a bit. I ran 2 price of progress in my main and one more in the sideboard. It was outstanding. I was able to execute the normal RUG plan of early denial but then against deathblade and shardless I was able to settle in and win via PoP when my opponents thought they stabilized the board. If you are going to play RUG anytime soon, I would highly recommend playing a few PoPs.
Against the controlling decks like the ones named above, mongoose is often the best creature so I also decided to run 1 TNN in the main as a pseudo-5th goose. I was also excellent helping me win games against miracles and shardless.
Those are my two cents of those of you who love this classic deck.
Hey, got a pretty dumb question, and I'm 99% sure I already know the answer. Is there any half decent thing to run in place of Tarmogoyfs? I've been picking up the stuff to be able to bounce between RUG and UR delver for about 3 years and have just never been able to find Tarms for trade. If not It's no big deal I'll just stick with my other stuff until I get them, but thought I'd at least ask.
I honestly can't think of one. You can run young pyromancer, but it is better in a grixis shell. YP is typically slower than goyf and makes you want to run as many probes as possible (possibly a good thing but a bit of a departure for RUG). If you really want to run RUG and haven't been able to get goyfs, YP seems like the only real option.
1x 3cmc creature (TNN or clique typically) is fine as an extra creature or a replacement for 1 goyf, but I don't think you can replace all the goyfs with 4x 3cmc cards. 1 of grim lavamancer can also be a nice RUG addition but again more to support the main creature suite.
Mongoose is too good to mess around with Hooting mandrils and kind ape, in my opinion, but I have played very little with those cards.
... sorry that probably wasn't remotely helpful.
I would probably cut down to the normal 18 lands and add the fourth stifle and a pierce/snare.
huh, I've read over RUG list for a while and never took the time to notice they only run 8 fetches. np, I'd just go +1 stifle, +2 spell pierce, -1 chain lightning, -2 wooded foothills. personally I like spell pierce over spell snare for an unknown meta. outside of DnT I don't know too many times spell pierce is dead. spell snare might always have targets, but I've had a few too many times it just sat in my hand waiting to be pitched to FoW.
Also I just noticed the post about Young Pyromancer (I apologize finals week has my mind fried.) honestly if I were to go that route I'd just stick to my current UR delver build. YP just fits better in a more aggro shell imo. I do like the idea of tossing in a True-name nemesis so I might go with something more like -2 werebear, +1 true-name nemesis, +1 scavenging ooze. only swapping the second werebear for an extra ooze because I don't like having that many one ofs, and sometimes my wife still plays dredge.
Been out of legacy for a couple years. Glad to see this deck is still relevant. Last I checked treasure cruise was the cool card but it appears they banned it not surprisingly lol. Looking at that last deck list, why use chain lightning over Gitaxion Probe? A lot of burn in that list. Maybe subtract a forked bolt for a Spell Snare? I see why no goyfs in posts further up, but that list looks a little burn heavy.
Edit: Main deck of a Clique if you have one over ooze. Ooze is too green reliant, Clique can be dirty.
Is this deck still viable? or are the BUG lists just better?
Been playing Threshold at my locals and it seems fine, but there isn't much activity here anymore.
So, my flex spots, in addition to the typical Thresh 54, for a while now have been 2 Spell Pierce, 2 Forked Bolt, and 2 Git Probe. Oddly, the card that has felt the worst is Pierce, it just very rarely is relevant without combining it with a Daze or in a counter war. It feels like 99% of the time i want to use it on a Swords to protect my threat, but they have enough mana that it is worthless. Dispel feels like it might be better in these situations and in counter wars.
I'm debating on trying out Tarfire over the Forked Bolts to grow Goyf easier to a 5/6 to get over Angler and Eldrazi. I like having 6 ways, or more, to take care of a turn 1 DRS, which Tarfire certainly fits, but then i miss out on that sweet sweet feeling you get when you Fork a couple elves, two Eldrazi Mimics, or a Pyromancer and token.
Also, i think i want to try 2 Dismember over Git Probe with the new influx of Eldrazi decks in Legacy in the online meta, or at least find room for 2 in board. Maybe that makes more sense since it is dead maindeck in a lot of matchups. At least a card like Fork Bolt/Tarfire can go to the face and Probe is never dead. I know people are hostle to Probe in this deck, but that info can be so good..
All in all, i think i'm running just above 50% online in 2 man matches in the last month or so, where i see a lot of Miracles, Shardless BUG, MUD, Sneak, other Delver varients, and Eldrazi. Thresh will always be a solid choice.
Eldrazi feels like a much better MUD, to me. I think MUD is easier to beat because even a 4/4 Endless One on turn 2 can race/kill you pretty easily. F Wizards for printing these ridiculous creatures, but i guess the real issue is the fact that all the old cards produce colorless mana. Who decided that was a good idea? The Eldrazi are not hard to cast at all. When this new 'color' was first announced, i assumed all the old cards would produce generic mana still, but i guess that is too reasonable.

I actually agree with Spell pierce being the worst card in the deck lately. This is the list from the tournament I played most recently:
I cut down two pierce right before the event in favor of 2 gitaxian probes, and I honestly haven't missed them at all. The information probe provides helps you develop your game plan so well, I've found this to be highly valuable in the tempo game. In my recent testing heading into SCG Phili I've cut a forked bolt for a 3rd probe (2 pierce, 3 probe, 1 forked), but I believe I will be making room for a dismember or two in the main somewhere. Sideboard I'm unsure on still, will likely depend on what I see in the room the morning of.
With lands, aggro loam, shardless, and eldrazi all showing up pretty regularly in paper around me, I have gone to 2x price of progress, 2x spell pierce, 1x spell snare and 1x True-Name Nemesis in my 6 flex spots. I like this build a lot. Board has to have a bit more counter magic than normal, but the reach of PoP and difficulty dealing with TNN have helped immensely as the paper magic seen has shifted to slightly bigger, grindier decks.

They never produced generic mana. Generic is not a kind of mana. There were just never any cards that specifically required colorless mana in costs.
just wanna ask is Tempo Thres now become Temur Delver?
