Hey all,
I have recently decided that my next great project in the world of magic is going to be tackling the beast itself: Miracles. Hate me all you want, but control is my favorite style of play in Modern, and I really like decks that challenge my skill as a magic player (which is not found really in modern control), and Miracles is the love child of those. In my research, I have found many more lists running Monastery Mentor and (maybe) a 1 of Entreat the Angels. However, I also found an article that Reid Duke wrote - http://www.channelfireball.com/articles/legacy-miracles-deck-guide/ - which was written before the banning of Dig through Time, but still after the printing of Monastery Mentor. The list he has in that article features a zero-creature maindeck, with only two entreats and 3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor for his finishers. In addition, unless I missed something, he doesn't even mention the Mentor in this article.
Currently, I have the deck proxied up and have been testing with friends, and I am running 2 Snapcaster Mage , 2 Jace, and 2 Entreat. I like how it feels, as Mentor felt clunky to me when I was playing with it. I have been piloting this to success, but it often feels as if I am constantly digging for my Entreat to finally win the game.
So, back to the question at hand, is it more of personal preference or is mentor for the most part just better than entreat?
