I really like enlightened tutor, as it's essentially a worldly tutor with added benefit of being able to search up an enchantment package.
The Oblivion Ring might be a bit slow I would think about swords to plowshares instead.
I think something can be done here with enlightened tutor, whether it be using scroll racksensei's divining top or something else, but I'd look into a utility package relating to artifacts and enchantments.
Given that you're automatically three color, standard Duals and Fetches are things you should invest in.
STATISTICS.
All of these "Let's eliminate bad cards" crusades are simply ignorant. And when they start to devolve into "WotC is conspiring to give us crappy cards," they just become embarrassing. MATH is conspiring to give you crappy cards.
you would probably be better off with some infinite toughness combo using things like shuko, nomads en kor, etc. and task force, daru spritualist, and angelic protector.
hell since your running green anyways you can run collected company to put the creatures you need out at instant speed EoT if they tap out for something like a jace then you can play something like flight spellbomb, soaring seacliff (uncounterable give someone flying (ok not uncounterable but really only stifle)) or sapphire charm to send an infinite toughness flyer to their face. This would also allow you to cut out black unless you really want to run it and if you decide to run things like sapphire charm you can run blue then too to protect your combo and run some fantastic card selection which I would think would be more important than discard. Since this would win that turn you can also afford to run something like pact of negation instead of force of will to protect it.
Since assault formation can also allow defenders to attack you can also run things like wall of omens or wall of blossoms to not only dig but give you a 4/4 beater for 2. But that would be more or less a plan B if you know you can win with beats quicker than you could win with the combo.
I would personally avoid doran or any aggro type of win condition since you can win much more safely with this concept than that.
The question is, what colors should this deck be? Considering the core concept of building around Assault Formation, we must be green. We are, however, playing Legacy, so some larger scope and imagination is called for, particularly since green offers limited to no disruption. The complimentary colors for green are usually white, black, red, white/black, or black/red. Since we're looking to be a high toughness creature heavy deck, I feel like me can safely ignore red, as it doesn't offer any playable cards like that for us. So, we instead look at white and/or black.
Next, we have to decide if this is an aggro, midrange, or control deck. I strongly believe it can't be an aggro deck. Requiring an enchantment in addition to your efficient creatures is a very very poor idea for an aggro deck. Therefore, we have the choice between midrange and control. Obviously, control in Legacy has traditionally been the purview of White/Blue, and to a lesser extent Black. That said, there is some powerful consideration for leaning towards a controlling build. High-toughness creatures do a fantastic job of slowing the game down. On the flip side, our potential three colors offer some incredibly powerful mid-range elements. Therefore, I've made up some preliminary potential lists of both flavors:
The idea here is to stall the boardstate until Assault Formation can come down and turn our Walls into giant beaters. Additionally, Collected Company makes an appearance as a great way to instant speed flood the board.
This more controlling list is looking to stall the board, grind out value, and then finally win after the opponent's resources have been exhausted. There are many different ways a control deck of this style could be tuned.
Obviously, the question here is, are these archetypes stronger than a traditional Junk creatures or Maverick list? I'm not sure. Certainly they have many parallels. Value creatures paired with Collected Company is very strong. I feel like there are many different ways to build/pilot a G/X/X Assault Formation list. Please feel free to comment on anything that's I've said.

Cards are usually tagged, which I'll do for you here.

I guess my usual first question is do you want this to be competetive?
