So I came up with this idea, and bought the cards. Then I goldfished it and realized it should be fun, but a 1-5 drop kinda deck. It seems to have potential though, and I'd like some input on how I could make it better/more competitive.
Some interactions to look for: Artificer's Intuition play's the role of Survival of the Fittest in this deck in many ways as Survival did in the ~5-6 years ago popular deck Welder Survival, although this is more Control/Combo compared to Welder Survival which was an aggro deck.
- Artificer's Intuition has 17 cards in this deck to find, with 27 cards that can be "pitched".
- Artificer's Intuition can find all the piece's of a "combo win" finish: Sensei's Divining Top (x3), Altar of the Brood, Locket of Yesterdays. This win mill's any number of cards from the opponents deck. Top in play, Top in Graveyard, Altar in play, and the third Top on the top of the deck, in play, or in hand. With Locket and the top in the graveyard the other tops are free to cast. You use the tops to draw one another and repeated cast them, this mills cards with the Altar. Pass the turn and win the game on their draw step.
- Artificer's Intuition pitches cards like Mindslaver, Myr Battlesphereor Lodestone Golem and finds a cheap artifact to cast, allowing you use Goblin Welder to place them into the battlefield.
- We theoretically can cheat on a few land slots, as Artificer's Intuition can pitch not needed artifacts and find additional late game artifact lands to use.
- Acts as a shuffle effect to see additional cards with Sensei's Divining Top or Jace, the Mind Sculptor.
* An aggro build could use Myr Servitor as pretty sweet tech as blockers. I think I will eventually pick these up as SB cards, but I really just brewed and winged it with my initial order.
Sensei's Divining Top: This is a combo piece (which I mentioned earlier), card filtering, and acts with Counterbalance for a soft lock type effect. Also sets up the pair of miracle cards I included (Bonfire of the Damned).
Counterbalance: Works with Top, but also the Legendary lands, which can place artifacts/creatures in the graveyard to the top of the deck. We have CMC artifacts/creatures at 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 7. Adding something in the SB like Platinum Emperion also adds an 8cmc which may be relevant for Dig Through Time? The 3CMC is held by the two Blood Moon and appears to be a weakness. Somehow adding in Thirst for Knowledge is probably smart. Another potential add I thought about is Izzet Charm for spell pierce/faithless looting/shock versatility.
There are Mindslaver lock possibilities as well.
I dunno, help?
