I love red and I have wanted to make a Legacy deck built around Koth and Blood Moon for some time. Chalice of the Void is another great hate that can be played in any color. Throw these together and a deck starts to come together. This is very rough so I would welcome suggestions. The idea really comes from wanting to use Koth in Legacy and the moderate success I had with TMWA in Vintage. http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=330492
I just love KDL and he was a beast in Vintage. More spot removal might weaken him too much in Legacy, however. The proliferate spells are there to ultimate Koth the turn after you play him. It is quite possible to play Koth turn 1 and ultimate him on turn 2. Chaos Warp is a criminally underrated card and takes care of all kinds of threats with minimal drawback the majority of the time. I will work on a sideboard once I think more about weak match-ups and effective hate cards against them.
I disagree, yes too many bloodmoon effects but the deck might be a thing if constructed corectly, but no he cant go off on turn 2 being you can't use his +1 turn one if you plan on ancient tombing turn one due to not having mountains to animate but i like the idea, secondly i think it would be a nice mix up for Legacy i'd drop kargan to use something a little more efficient for the deck like grim lavamancer for example. but yes proliferate just won't cut it in legacy, ie lightning bolt, shock, etc. but anyway it is a cool idea

I will work on this and appreciate the suggestions. I will probably look into cutting the proliferate cards (they only proliferate Koth and KDL and it is very inefficient on KDL). I could handle cutting Dragonlord, he is just my favorite creature and I want to make him work somehow. I agree on the trinisphere but I wouldn't want to cut below 6 moon effects. They kill so many decks right now, especially Stoneblade. An early one is also very bad for Miracles as they frequently win with Entreat or Jace and they need double white or blue for those. Even if they have one basic land, they will have to draw into another one because even all their fetches will just be mountains. An early moon effect and/or chalice at 1 is how this deck has it's strength. If I cut KDL, I might consider main deck Ensnaring Bridge (with more in the side) and would then need another win con. Any suggestions?
The Timmy in me wants to think Karn Liberated also belongs in this deck.
Batterskull is a good finisher for this deck. Making 5 mana is not unreasonable with Koth's help, it's resilient, and you might even be able to keep 3 open to protect it in some cases. Furthermore, Batterskull's vigilance will make it do double duty on offense and defense.
It's unreasonably expensive, but Rolling Earthquake wants a home in this deck. Eathquake is a substitue, but won't hit fliers if that's relevant in your meta. There's also Starstorm, which is an instant and doesn't hurt players. I imagine you want your earthquake effect to hit players, but it's possible that you need to hold onto your precious life total.
The biggest problem with Simian Spirit Guide will be that it sets you up for some really painful 2-for-1s.
Playing Mox Diamond in place of Chrome Mox enables you to play more colorless cards like Crucble of Worlds, which has fringe synergy with your lands getting killed, your City of Traitors killing itself, and Faithless Looting, among other cards. It's another option for acceleration, and is probably more stable than the spirit guide.
I wouldn't be upset to see Tezzeret's Gambit stay in the deck if you could find a way to make it more synergistic with the deck as a whole. Find room for a Jitte (and have guys to put it on...?), maybe add Karn Liberated...
Cut Kargan Dragonlord - He's fun, but not great, and you want to avoid 2cmc cards so you can chalice with X=2 and drop trinisphere with no drawback
Cut the Proliferate cards. They don't do enough and are rather clunky.
Try Rakdos Pit-Dragon or Thundermaw Hellkite for your finishers - These are the finishers of choice in this type of deck (see Dragon Stompy)
Try a few more Moxen. If you keep 23 lands, throw in a pair of Mox Diamond. Otherwise trim your lands and run a full set of Chrome Mox. You really want moxen to increase your number of turn one Chalice for 1/Trinisphere/Blood Moon, t2 Chalice on 2/Koth plays.
The number of hate cards is perfect as is, don't you dare touch it. You want to be shutting out a lot of decks on turn one, and this is the best way to do it.

I like the prohibitive nature of Trinisphere and Chalice of the Void, and I definitely think your deck wants to try sticking them on turn 1 against some matchups. You probably want 4 Ancient Tomb and 4 City of Traitors. Even still, Trinisphere isn't coming down on turn 1 without Simian Spirit Guide.

The deck definitely needs better ways to get more cards in its hand, lock its opponent out of the game, protect itself, and/or close the game out quickly. If you add Faithless Looting, you could use Punishing Fire with Grove of the Burnwillows, Squee, Goblin Nabob, or maybe even Chandra's Phoenix.

Both are very much under construction. Please stop by and talk about it!
