Well it finally happened, I'm making changes to my board. The biggest one for me is playing nahiri the harbinger, something I thought I would never play. As I thought of some tweeks however it found its way in the forefront. Batterskull is gone and I'm back to Baneslayer almost exclusively because of nahiri. I have also finally cut leyline of the void in favour of a third rip. The deck feels as tight as ever.
Card economy and versatility continue to win the day.
Also still want to run monastery mentor in the board. Every other deck I've played where I can side them in feels amazing. It also creates obscene pressure in this deck.
yo WeaponX what made you drop the black leyline for the 3rd RIP? while leyline of the void is more expensive manawise, i like that it gives us random free wins against GY strategies and is abrupt decay proof..
correct me if i'm wrong, so nahiri is basically there so we'd have a way to tutor for the angel when we need life when absolutely necessary? hmm, interesting..i still have the angel in the SB, but no nahiri..
council's judgment is a spicy addition, it's role in the deck kinda reminds me of drmarkb's Unexpectedly Absent..i would like to weigh the merits and demerits of the two in different game situations..personally, i occasionally run Powder Keg because its good against infect, eldrazi and mentor miracles, to name a few..
Hey guys, interesting deck! Coming from a D&T boards I noticed we use a card called Palace Jailer. I was wondering with the monarch mechanic in play, how does that work with solitary confinement? Would it be worth it to find cards that make you the monarch to counteract the discarding? I havent had the chance to look to see if there are artifact/ enchantments which make you the monarch besides palace jailer.
Ability to cast is one factor, and actual removal of yard. This may be a biased call right now as I've been seeing a lot of BUG lately. The reasons you mention is why I played it in the first place.
Nahiri is there more for removal. I was playing a miracles mirror where I had nahiri and it seemed to do everything I needed it to do when I had it. I suspect it will do the same for us here. It also gives us some more options to win game 2 if needed as it works well with our combo wins and potentially it is also a tutor for our minimlncretures.
While I've been running councils judgement for a while, it's main reason for inclusion was planeswalkers. We can be soft to them sometimes so having a versatile removal option is good. Powder keg is one of my favourite options though. I personally haven't been been needing it for a while.
As for monarch, our engine makes it unnecessary. Getting 3+ cards on our upkeep is better then one at end of turn.

I once played a BUG player, and by turn 3 was drawing 6 real cards a turn. (2 tax, scroll rack). Ok, that does not happen often, but paying for Confinement's steep cost is not an issue on the whole. Generally Solitary is, as mentioned above, paid for pretty easily with the Tax/Scrack Engine online. Enchantress does the same with Confinement- draw lots of cards that is. Jailer I use in Soldier Stompy, it works a treat when its free or uncounterable!
I am a fan of CJ too. I prefer UA main, but won't argue with CJ- slightly different, with different uses, but much needed flxibility.

on an unrelated, unimportant side note, my 3rd mox diamond will arrive in a few hours..i've been running only 2 and was using wildfield borderposts as a substitute..now the fun starts..

Lately I've been playing a phyrexian revoker over a reinforcements in my board. I like the ability to supplement the needle in the main by assuring that I can get problem cards locked down.

Don't you run humility? Is there not a conflict? I know I have run Peacekeeper in my board with 2 humilities main, but its not quite the same as they both nerf critters.

Got you- I thought it might be for matches where Humility comes out (apart from Elves where you would probably run both like I do with Peacekeeper), but I could not figure what you would be going after.

Out of interest, and slightly O/T, has anyone here ever done/tried a Opalescence, Parallax Wave/Tide type deck - Enchantment control without the Parfait Scrack Engine or Enchantress Engine- not a full on Leyline combo style deck. It seems like this would be a reasonable place to ask.

I remember playing against it, I guess it would have been in Standard in the Replenish deck- I lost in a nationals 1/4s to that monstrosity- I am wondering if it is possible now- the issue is I can see it being a counter top deck, or another rip/helm style deck, in which case why not play Miracles? I just think I would enjoy all of those rule abuse tricks with near infinite removal, triggers etc, and I guess it would have to run sol lands or mox ds. Still if you have any thoughts as to how a more modern version might look, I am all ears...

Loosing cards like frantic search certainly hurt. Hell I'd be willing to use frantic search in parfait for that matter. Something closer to blackjack (or pandeburst) may be a better option purely for being a combo deck. The biggest issue with them now is that they are trying to windmill slam expensive haymakers all while losing to a single flipped delver. If I get the urge I'll think about it some and maybe even start another thread for it.

I have never used them.
If you use Trinisphere then a better source of one shot mana is probably Spirit Guide (esp with Cursed Scroll consideration for ease of emptying hands), but I prefer permanent mana, especially as I like Armageddon and Blood moon type board cards, and the games tend to go longer game two against most Abrupt Decay decks, for example- meaning repeatable mana sources are way more beneficial. I mean if we comboed in both games early on I could see an argument for it, but that is not the game- it is a combo/prison-ish deck, not straight combo.
i got wrecked by stasis last sunday(we didn't sideboard though), but i guess its a loss i can afford since that deck is almost non-existent in a general legacy meta..
my paths, wraths, ghostly prison, humility, confinement, etc were dead cards against it..ha ha ha ha..fun game nonetheless..its always good to face decks that you rarely see..

Any chance of a Stasis list?
I have a primer for Stasis. Personal pet project of mine. Was it bant stasis with dudes? Did it hardlock? Did it horn of greed combo? please tell me it was not running Chronotog! Regardless of the version I can personally vouch for the binary nature of Stasis decks. They won't ever be taking more than 0.0001 percent of the meta- they can beat fair hate bear decks, they can beat miracles game 1, they can board the hell out of storm, they can even be tweaked to beat BG-x including BUG. But they can't do all of them at once, and the Infect and tempo matches are as lopsidedly bad as you can get.

we went about 4-1(no sideboarding though)..
he looked at my sideboard after the game and he said that the aura of silence and the choke(im testing a copy at the side) would've been a pain in the ass to play against..

I am sure experienced Parfait/Enchantress players should have a pretty solid feel for such a deck, hence asking here.

believe it or not, it was an un-updated list and very old school..it ran arcane denial, boomerang, force of will, howling mine, kismet, mana short, limdul's vault, despotic scepter(what?!), black vise, etc..
