So yeah, I feel like the Top banning aka Miracles banning was bad for this deck since TNN is even more powerful now and I think it will be played even more. :/ It's not like I had hate in the sideboard specifically for Miracles too, so I can't really free up a spot in the sideboard for more TNN hate. Right now, it's 2x Holy Light, 2x Council's Judgment, and 1 Gideon's Intervention. If Stoneblade becomes more popular I'll replace Holy Light with more of the other two.

Played my against my friend's UW Stoneblade. He destroyed me 8 wins to 1. Jitte with TNN was brutal. Jitte in general was just brutal.
Couldn't seem to get the correct turn 1 hate. Even when I did land some hate the bugger always seemed to have Force of Will.
There is no massive resurgence in stoneblade, I have no idea why everyone suggested it would come back in great numbers- a small uptick maybe. It is true that Miracles' UWx predecessors included Stoneblade, it sort of controlled at Miracles level, or at least did a pale imitation of Miracles prior to the lock, and it had great threats and was modal, but in the absence of Miracles the meta is heading towards combo, although paper results will be delayed as it takes time to trade into decks. Prior to Miracles resurgence I remember there being ban talk about Show and Tell, and unsurprisingly it seems to be in the resurgence, given the Volcanics/Force shell, you only need 5 sol lands, the shell is basically commons and the monsters, 4 of which are cheap. Many miracles players played it as it was great deck, not because they love the deck or control, and they are the sort who will head towards Show and Tell, BUG or Grixis Delver, the first of these being easiest.
Well if storm decks start to dominate the format that doesn't hurt my deck because have great matchups vs all of them.

I tried Shining Shoal and found that it was just too situational to get the full value of it. I was never in a position to hard cast it. So it was going to only be used by pitching a card. One of the 4 cmc or 6 cmc cards. For me in the matchups I was playing I would never seem to have them in hand at the correct time, to redirect some damage. I would either have it when I was already dominating and opponent could not stabilize, or when I was card low and I needed the threats in hand to mount any sort of a comeback and the card disadvantage would sink me if I pitched one.
I have 2 Shining Shoal in the sideboard, and have been playing 4 cards with 6 CMC. 3 Captains and 1 Protector.
I do think it warrants more testing.
I play my 2 friends quite a bit, decks have been UW Stoneblade, D&T and Food Chains. Plus I play at my store whenever they run legacy events.
I am totally frustrated by Stoneblade. He is very good player, lots of experience. It seems I need a combination of Suppression Field and Chalice very early to have any hope. Otherwise with no Suppression Field, Stoneforge and equipment kills me badly. With no Chalice their removal of Swords to Plowshare hurts my Preeminent Captain, and just kills me. Then there is the 4 friggin Wastelands! Their one miser Karakas has destroyed me too. Hence I run 1 Wasteland of my own.
Round 1 vs Affinity. <1-2> (I have only played modern Affinity once ever. Very unfamiliar with the deck, cost me a win)
Game 1, Chalice on 1 followed by 2 Suppression Fields into a P Captain.
Game 2, Was a total grind fest. Timely removal on his part led to his win.
Game 3, this is where my inexpeience against Affinty showed. I had Chalice on 1, played a second chalice on 0. The correct play is Chalice on 2! Their win cons are on 2. What a dumbass I am. It was still a close game, and he was able to combo off and kill me.
Sideboard: 1 Cast Out in and 1 Protector out.
Round 2 vs RW Goblins. <2-1>
Game 1. Chalice on 1, then 2 Suppression Fields, too much to overcome.
Game 2, deck check loss. I didn't fill out sheet correctly, forgot all my Artifacts and Enchantments. Show Up Earlier Next Time!!
Game 3, I cheated for the win. I had Thalia out but he did too. I played Holy Light to kill a bunch of Goblins. I didn't remember opposite Thalia's tax, and by the time it was realized it was too late. I offered to forfeit the match as I felt bad.
Sideboard: In 2 x Holy Light, Out Protector and Leonin.
Round 3 vs Food Chains <2-0>
Game 1, Chalice on 1 and Suppression Field, just too much hate.
Game 2, Suppression Field and Winter Orb hurt his lands too much. Opponent did not draw any of his 4 Abrupt Decays in 2 games.
Sideboard: In 3 Cast Out, Out 2 Thalia 1.0 and 1 protector.
Round 4 vs Storm <2-0>
Game 1, Thalia 1.0 and Thalia 2.0 out. This was normally the Shardless BuG player, he had told me the optimal play vs that deck is Thalia 1.0 and 2.0.
Game 2, He plays a Dread of Night, Daru Warchief nullified the -1/-1 effect and I was able to get out the troops. Thalia 1.0 prevented him from casting a Massacre to wipe my board, 1 mana short.
Sideboard: 1 Jotun Grunt in and 1 Soltari Champion out.
Round 5 vs Eldrazi <1-2> (we drew pre play, and played for experience)
Game 1, He Chaliced me for 1, and I powered out a P Captain and went off.
Game 2 and 3, Thoughtknot seer was hard to handle. I was not playing very well, missed a few first strike blocks.
Sideboard: 3 cast out, 2 Shining Shoal, out 4 Chalice and 1 Winter Orb. I never drew any SB cards.
Top 8
Round 6 vs Delver.
Game 1, he flies over me and bolts to the noggin. He FOW my early Suppression Field. It was still a very good game.
Game 2, was hilarious, Turn 1 Suppression Field, followed by Thalia 2.0. He ended up with 5 fetches and 1 dual in play. He was even laughing.
Game 3, he had 2 Delvers in play and was able to Top Deck a bolt, flip flip bolt bolt for 12 and I was dead exactly. I had whiffed earlier on Enlistment Officer got 0 soldiers. It was an excellent game, back and forth. I couldn't draw my removal, Jailers and Cast Outs.
Sideboard: In 3 Cast Out, 2 Rest In Peace Out 1 Protector, 1 Relic, 1 Soltari, 1 Daru, 1 Loxodon (no basics)
Soltari Priest is interesting, the fact that it has evasion makes it decent and is a fetchable pseudo-lord. I could see it being decent in a situation or two. Your sideboard is different...
But nicely done.
I think the key to top 8'ing was the Snow-Lands. Makes the deck twice as good.

Soltari Champion did do some pinging for 2 each time I got him out. I mostly added him in as a way to recapture Monarch in case I lost it. The 2W casting cost worked well too.
After playing some creature heavy decks, delver and Eldrazi I think some Ghostly Prisons could be added to SB.
Each time I bring in sideboard cards and remove Soldiers it makes Enlistment Officer less effective. Maybe focus on sideboard cards that are still soldiers.
Jotun Grunt (graveyard hate)
Aegis of the Gods (hexproof)
Gustcloak Savior (flying combat tricks)
Drawbringer Charioteer (flyer, abrupt decay proof)
Fair Grounds Warden (creature removal)
Palace Jailer (even more creature removal)
Selfless Squire (combat tricks)
Protector of the Crown (anti burn)
I found Aegis of the Gods to not be the most effective sideboard option. Jotun Grunt seems too slow and easy to play around. I used to play Gustcloack Savior. I've added Gideon's Intervention and I find it to be quite good.

While there are definitely some number of soldiers that should be considered for SB hate - like Protector of the Crown, it can sometimes be hard (read: impossible) to find the right effect attached to a relevant body, in that case, the correct answer is to take the Enlistment Officers out as well during sideboarding.
Generally, if the MU is that lop-sided where you need the hate so much that your primary plan of put soldiers into play and bash your opponents face isn't so relevant anymore, you won't feel the negatives of missing out on such a powerful card (because it's not really relevant in the first place).
New Sorcerous Spyglass
looks really good.
Might replace Suppression Field. Easy to cast off sol land and can name their fetch land in hand or any card.
Sorcerous Spyglass
2
Artifact
As Sorcerous Spyglass enters the battlefield, look at an opponent's hand, then choose any card name.
Activated abilities of sources with the chosen name can't be activated unless they're mana abilities.
Yeah, it definitely contends with SField, but I'm not sure I would want to trade it out. It could potentially replace a Winter Orb or 2 in the maindeck but I'm thinking that's also not correct. The fact that it can be played with just a sol land makes it very appealing.

OK! So I have an updated Soldier list. I just won a Magic League trial with the deck, albeit a small one. There were only four players, but I managed to go 2-0 and 4-0 in games. All the players are good though, at least 2 of the other 3 are judges and I know they are very competent players. I played against Death and Taxes first and then the new Miracles.
I've been looking on the Soldier forum on mtgthesource and someone posted a deck that top 8'd (second place finish).
I definitely liked a lot about this deck, and then I thought maybe we dismissed Aerial Responder too quickly. We all know that the 2/4 Flying Lifelink from Charioteers is one of the best creature options we have. Responder has Vigilance which is great for offense and defense, therefore synergizing well with Monarch. Plus it's cheaper. Add a Daru Warchief and it loses its weakness to almost all cards it was weak to before, except Abrupt Decay.
There were a few things I didn't like about the list, and one of them is the inclusion of Brimaz. I don't think the card is disruptive enough to have a real impact on the game to be Legacy worthy, so I removed him. I definitely didn't like only 2 Copies of Thalia 2.0 as well, so I made room for 2 more. I changed his sideboard up. I also prefer 19 lands and 3 Cities in my Soldier decks, so I made that adjustment. I kept the Odric, Lunarch Marshal because I actually think it could be really good in a number of different situations, a card I had looked at before but was not nearly as appealing in a deck without without Aerial Responder. It can do some big things. In the tournament I had a 3rd Warchief instead of Odric but I put Odric back in the deck. I also added my 1 of Hokori, Dust Drinker tech. I had to cut Winter Orb x2, which was all my copies and that's a bit painful, but I think it's alright because I still have Hokori.
It could be that Protector of the Crown is meant to be in the list still, somehow, but I'll be testing the deck without it, but I don't play as much Legacy at the moment. Mostly just if there's a tournament.

Aluren, Sneaks (red and more traditional UR, including Omni versions), Elves (especially resurgent), Storms, Depths, BR reanimator seem to be the biggest risers, there is a slight uptick in stoneblade, but even then you are more likely to see a darkbant/leovold running TNN deck.
