i was doing some testing the other day and the conversation turned up momentary blink. my first thoughts is this can stretch the use of both trinket mage or imperial recruiter tutoring.
But if it were to be included It seems like the deck would need something else to go along with its capability to justify its addition. Unfortunately I'm drawing blanks on legacy effective ideas to add in.
second while tezzeret is great I've had the thought of adding vensur sojourner for some time. the idea of recasting zero cost artifacts and exile the opponents board was looking very tempting. coupled with tezz suddenly we can make our 5/5 artifacts unblockable.
With the release of Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, i want to try him over tezz 1.0. I still think that unless you have Imperial Recruiter, B is stronger than red to splash than R.
On that note, would any of you think that Entomb and Reanimate would be viable to fish up Painter/Salavgers, if one cannot afford recruiter at the moment?
Im thinking about keeping red maybe for some welder tactics from the board.
My second approach would probably involve minimal protection, and go for the win faster. "Combo-eque" this version would probably play like Reanimator.
This version would be Entomb then reanimate or welder FTW.
agent of bolas has been on my mind, his first ability is basically a commune with nature or impulse for artifacts. plus its on a stick so to speak.
bomberman unlike the other decsk i've seen him proposed in can actually run him and have a moderate amount of artifacts on the field to utilize his last ability.
both of those spells mentioned above could give you the same effect faster than building up to tezzeret for the same actions.
entomb is work able the only catch is with bomberman we need two artifacts on the field or in the yard which is why intuition keeps coming up.
the issue is were still split between, is we need to fetch up a combo of creature and generic artifacts, but the best search spells don't tailor to both.
all to easily tezz might give you artifact after artifact but end up causing you to put a salvagers on the bottom.
this is slightly less an issue when your combining bomber and painter mixed in the deck. But i'm getting the feeling you might just pull off more painter kills than bomber man kills if your using him to find combo pieces.
I like tezzerets searching capability in that its building you up for an alternative kill or making 5/5s out of situationally useless stuff. but at 4 mana for just the searching ability there are other spells that can do that while being put into action a turn or two sooner.
if your planning on using tezzeret I'm thinking you might want to consider adding an 1 ornithopter just for sake of making it a 5/5 flyer. plus a trinket can tutor it up for some double chump blocking action.
------------------- other thoughts that came to mind while writing.
green splash might be of some use for blending both combos. worldly tutor or Eladamri's Call can tutor up painter or salvagers, as well as trinket mages.
the issue that arises with searching for trinket mages is your tutoring for a tutor. some might call that wasteful. (that is the benefit of imperial recruiter as he goes strait for what were looking for.)

Yeah my problems exactly. I was thinking new-tezz as a way to impilse for artifacts after bomber hits, or 3rd wincon for late game. That is why i was thinking 3 salvagers + Brainstom + 1 Top and + 3-4 Thirst for Knowledge should net you an early game salvagers @ 3 of them. What I like about Thirst is: it could potentially put an LED or Bomb in the yard especially after a well placed enlightened tutor and you could get slavagers off of it.
I like entomb, cause it can tutor anything in the deck that you need, reanimate salvagers, crack LED and win. or with salvagers in play, you could entomb an LED and win, provided you have 1W open.
Well, living wish and green tutor could work, but you still have the split problems.
Well, I scrapped the Combo-esque build. It was too hard for everything to fall into place. Therefore, I went back to the drawing board so to speak. I packed more disruption on SB and main deck. I realized that multiple Æther bombs is the way to go. I cut Top and Mox diamond/opal (metalcraft is just terribly inconsistent) to make room, also, i was always mana flooded so i Went from 23 to 20 lands (being i didn't have diamond anymore) I also took out Top, cause it was too slow. I also realized that Trinket Mage is more Important for finding the missing peice as well as a mana-fixer, so I upped it to 4 Trinket Mages. I've been goldfishing, and I like Tezz 2.0 in the build. Tezz makes the build fast when he hits. He may not win the game when he hits like Tezz 1.0, but he's just so fast. If someone has some kind of lock on you, you can start making with 5/5 artifacts as early as turn 3. Since I'm doing all island based duals, Daze fits as extra protection/disruption.
Sideboard:
I'm going to go with extra disruption as well as a 4th potential wincon from the board with an extra tutor and a utility package of artifacts/enchantements.
I'm thinking about Vedalken Shackles to steal early Goyfs (again island based duals) or steal pesky stuff like meddling mages, piledrivers, coralhelm commanders (and pump it lol)
any particular reason you went back to the vindicates?
just for sake of noting I did notice that LED with ensnaring bridge might be of some use to us as it essentially can in theory shut down all aggro.
i'm also considering going back to adapt infernal tutor to the build. to take advantage of LED.

Well, I want 6 spot removal. Since the deck revolves around Trinket mage a-bomb as a 3-of is a logical choice + it provides the infinite draw, so that's obvious.
It boiled down to this in my selection of the last 3 slots.
in my last build I ran it along side swords. which made the deck way more controlish in build than it should of been.
but it does hit just about everything so running it over swords makes sense, in order to keep the deck from being too controlish. something just doesn't seem right in leaving our only removal up a 3cc spell. (but thats my gut talking.)
I say stick with it unless you start to see an issue with the amount of mana it costs.
-------------------------------
i was fishing around with a search for transmute cards and stumbled across Clutch of the Undercity. for 4cc it bounces stuff or 1:symb::symu: it transmutes into tezz or salvagers.

Clutch of the undercity is sorcery speed at 3cc (1ub) the bomberman deck is actually famous for its speed and resilience. bomberman splashed with black i think would be out of the way especially if this is the only thing you are gonna add, for me, infernal tutor would be better especially with LED at 2cc (though you cant fetch it to FOW.
BTW. im trying out this build next week (Proxies). what a coincidence, there is a bomberman thread here. can anyone help?
if i would be using chrome mox rather than mox opal, i might as well add, Fire/ice to the list, but still thinking. also, i'd like to propose a plan C for bomberman. origin spellbomb + emrakul = infinite token/draw then walk. what do you think? is it too much?

My "Plan C" is Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas for now. He is a good control card. Don't forget you can Target your opponent's Blightsteel Colossus and make it 5/5... way more manageable to deal with.
If you look at my list, "My plan D" is aggro plan from the Board. Phyrexian Dreadnought + Stifle is a potential turn 2, 12/12 Trampler.
Emerakul isn't bad, but that my be too fancy. If you look at my plans: Plan A: Bomberman, Pyrite bombs Infinite Plan B: Mill with the Painter Plan C: Tezz Impulses for artifacts, Makes them 5/5, then ultimates for win or buys time Plan D: Aggro with Massive Dreadnoughts.
On another note: I don't like Mox Opal. Chrome mox may be difficult to run, because you have a lot of artifacts. Mox diamond is probably still the best option: you can fetch an Artifact land with trinket mage, then discard to Mox Diamond if the situation calls for it.
thanks, i will look into it. and will post the results sooner.

Hmmmm. My Tezzeret 2.0 version didn't work well. I think theright colors for this deck may be :symu::symw::symg: with maybe a red splash I'm not sure about Black. My 2 previous attempts failed. deck went like 2-7 over the course a few weeks. I still think Salvagers is powerful combo. Imperial Recruiter is obviously the best tutor for it period, but I'm not even a budget player and i can't afford a playset right now lol. The problem is getting Salvagers to your hand quickly enough.
if your using gamekeeper you might want to just convert the deck to "golden grahams"
utilizing cabal therapy.
I always though of bomberman with blue and gamekeeper 'golden graham" as two different decks just the same kill condition.

the addition of worldly should definitely give you the edge in getting the salvagers to hand that we need. plus the added function of kira's spot.
I'm not sure about kira though. might sylvan safekeeper be better due to being cheaper?
you think firespout should be in the sideboard? you do have the red for it.
Im still under the impression zoo, merfolk and goblins would be a rough match for its current lay out and some type of creature sweeper might be of value.
-----------------------------------
I also found this necrotic ooze combination and am not sure where to put it. basically its necrotic ooze on the field as usual but you have salvagers in the yard with Orzhov Guildmage.
basically you can use lion's eye with ooze copying the salvagers ability and the amassed mana can be spent on the guildmages abilities copied by ooze.
where i'm at a loss is the proper method for setting all that up. gamekeeper doesn't set things up in that position, so did not think the post would work in golden grahams.
despite using necrotic ooze and stuff in the graveyard to me it doesn't quite feel like a cephalid breakfast kill either.

Hmmm, forgot about safekeeper! He could be of use or Mother of runes could have some potential, though the safekeeper is immediate like kira.
What I like about Kira, is that it's static... guess you have to pay either way, either :1mana::symu::symu: or and sac a land.

Well last time vs. Zoo, i got Salvagers + LED + EE online. That was pretty much GG, it bought me the extra turns i needed to get a spellbomb.
That could work, cause its hard against merfolk to get EE online lol

Hmmm...
I'm thinking Buried Alive / Entomb right away. And maybe devourer + Triskelion for more targets
----------------------------
This is Kind of a Tanget but: I boarded in Stifle + Phyrexian Dreadnought as alternate win con. They will be boarding in Lots of GY hate after they lose game 1 to salvagers.
It almost worked, i tried it against Merfolk though ... needless to say it didn't work lol Dazed it lmao...
i could see that working. the addition of both combos to one deck.
the potentials i see in ooze is you can let salvagers land in a graveyard and still have 1-4 extra sudo salvagers in the form of necrotic ooze yet to draw.
second it plays with the decision making of people who drop phyrexian revoker or pithing needles.
there more but there not coming to mind at the moment

Intuition of course... But yeah... there has to be another way...
show and tell certainly would cheat the ooze or salvagers in to play, i'm just not completely following what your getting at with it though?
besides if I got show and tell i'd rather just drop an emrakul and beat my opponents silly jelly fish style.
----------------------
for the most part the shell you have already accomidates the fusion of the two combos. I suppose buried alive might be the better option over intuition so nothing of importance gets stuck in your hand. however were already running lions eyes so we have means already to discard into the yard anything crucial that got stuck in the hand. for those frequent situations graveyard oriented decks run into.

heres a list I put together with that ooze interaction i mentioned. I'm not sure if I should put it in a new thread as it is still bomberman heavy but it does have some differences from what your trying to do with bomberman in the Premier.
3 dark ritual
4 intuition
4 force of will
4 daze
3 stifle/duress
4 worldly tutor
1 tropical island
1 bayou
4 misty rainforest
3 tundra
3 undrground sea
4 flooded strand
1 savannah
1 island
1 swamp
1 academy ruins
the main focus is to get bomberman combo, but theres the additional interactions with necrotic ooze available.
- for instance-
necrotic ooze can land on the field with salvagers in the graveyard and replace salvagers roll.
there is also the interaction of copying salvagers roll but also Orzhov guildmage in the graveyard as well with ooze copying the abilities of both and interacting with lion's eye diamond for infinite mana and the copied abilties of guildmage provide infinite life loss kill.
if necrotic ooze is being added it makes sense to throw in the devourer triskelion combo as well.
to link both together smoothly intuition will tutor up most of the pieces needed.
since most of the combos involves l.e.d. something getting stuck in hand shouldn't be an issue as it will forces you to discard.
i included the dark rituals as a means to speed up any early drawn salvagers or necrotic oozes.
i think we should be getting early pieces quite frequently with 4 worldly tutors in the main board.
when I was building this list I was originally thinking stifle would be great as you could have anti gravehate main board, or even tempo to slow your opponent down a turn, but as I write up the list I feel like I over looked duress's potential in that spot. so its up in the air as to what should fill it. stifle number 4 became the 1 divining top that I thought I should include but, couldn't bring my self to cut something else. so maybe 4 spots in total i'm uncertain of.
What do you think?

I think that Imperial Recruiter does really good things for this deck. I know he's expensive as he'll and seems to be more worth it in Imperial Painter, but I think it always something amazing here... I give you, UWR Painter's Spellbomb!
I have barely done any goldfishing with this deck yet, but the dozen hands I have run are promising. I may be way off base but I felt it should be shared.

Interesting. So I guess you didn't have any room for Buried Alive? Intuition is perhaps better IMO... I have a few Oozes, I might slap this together, see if it's worth it.

Edit: I want to fit more protection in here but I'm not sure how. Maybe -1 LDE, -2 SDT, +3 Dispell? There's not enough blue for FoW unfortunately.
Yeah ... I can't afford Recruiter atm, that's why I'm using Worldly Tutor.
If i had 4x Imperial Recruiter I would be definately splashing Red... The tutor allows for you to crack LED while fetching a painter/bomber. It also allows you to Run something random like a singleton Kira or Goblin Welder.
This is what my creature setup would probably resemble with recruiters:
I finally found some time to test the two combo idea against some players.
I tested it against solidarity and goblins. solidarity completely hussled the board and negated any testing feedback. (correction: the feedback is solidarity owns this deck.)
goblin on the other hand proved more results.
game 1 was a simple case of intuition for all the salvager parts and reanimate salvagers the following turn. barely winning when the goblins had beaten me down to 3 by turn 4. one well place wasteland or rashidian port and that might not have gone to straight forward despite the beating I took.
game 2 I made a huge blunder and mixed salvagers up with ooze's salvager ozhouv guildemage kill. I get salvagers out turn 3 off a dark ritual and drop a LED. I crack LED discard the guildemage and announce that i'm gunna do the whole life trick with it to win, only to realize salvagers is not ooze.
out of stupidity i just scoop.
game 3 I'm desperately looking for an intuition to make something out of the LED or triskelion in my hand. turn 4 i spot one with a ponder but goblins is ramping quickly with a turn 2 lackey that I had no answer for and a ringleader. no mana to cast it till my following turn cause i got wastelanded. turn 5 its practically over for me i'm at 5 life i can cast intuition but I don't have any means to set up either combo so i conceed.
frustrated over not getting intuition fast enough I try adding in merchant scroll as well as wipe away. also add in aether vials for a good turn 1 start so once turn 4 rolls around I have extra means to drop ooze or salvagers. so start testing again against goblins
game 1 complete blow out and i lose, merchant scrolls didn't even show up to the fight.
game 2 he shows a crypt. merchant scroll shows up turn 3/4 and gets wipe away, use it at end of his turn on like turn 4/5 gives me the room to set up salvagers on my turn but before i can combo out he gempalms the salvagers.
game 3 aether vial shows up in my opening hand with merchant scroll devourer and lion's eye diamond. turn 1 aether vial. turn 2 I ponder to see a ooze coming up. strangly this game my opponent isn't dropping goblins for two turns yet he is rashian porting my stuff. turn 3 i merchant scroll for inuition after drawing ooze. drop my lion's eye diamond. my opponents following turn he drops relic of progenitus. i wait an extra turn to think my way through the matter and realize i can go off right in the face of relic. I vial out necrotic ooze, then intuition for triskelion, he puts it in my hand. since I have priority I crack lions eye diamond, he responds by cracking relic of progenitus but the state based rules give ooze the abilities of devourer and triskelion before anyone can respond. since I activate LED by discarding my hand, those are put into the yard and there abilities going strait to Ooze i can respond at instant speed to his relic of progen. with the combo.
what was bad about the ooze combo is I failed to fully account for the mana curve of the whole deck. I barely managed to hit him for 22 damage. I burnt through 3 remaining merchant scroll 2 remaining aether vials both spell bombs 2 ponders 1 reanimate spell 4 dazes
had I needed to use 2 more of those cards in the combo I wouldn't have had enough damage to kill him. so the longer the game goes on the weaker that combo gets.
over all it may still have potential but the combination of the two combos can be rough.
part of me is starting to think the buried alive idea might hold them together better but intuitions ability to grab the artifact pieces makes it hard to ignore. the real complaint about intuition is its ever present problem of how it puts a card in your hand which an opponent can mess you up with out a LED discard effect present. i almost want to go full combo reanimation with this. like was suggested before.

Here is my new approach1:
3 Lion's Eye Diamond
2 Engineered Explsoives
1 Pyrite Spellbomb
1 Æther Spellbomb
2 Grindstone
2 Mox Diamond
1 Mox OPal
1 Sensei's Divining Top
Creatures
2 Trinket Mage
3 Auriok Salvagers
2 Painter's Servant
Instants
3 Thirst for Knowledge
4 Brainstorm
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Force of Will
2 Enlightened Tutor
2 Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
Lands
3 Underground Sea
3 Tundra
1 Island
4 Polluted Delta
4 Flooded Strand
1 Ancient Den
1 Seat of the Synod
4 Ancient Tomb
1 Tolaria West
1 Engineered Explosives
2 Tormod's Crypt
1 Enlightened Tutor
2 Propaganda
1 Pithing Needle
4 Stifle
1 Phrexian Dreadnought
3 Vindicate
My second approach would probably involve minimal protection, and go for the win faster. "Combo-eque" this version would probably play like Reanimator.
This version would be Entomb then reanimate or welder FTW.
2 Lion's Eye Diamond

bomberman unlike the other decsk i've seen him proposed in can actually run him and have a moderate amount of artifacts on the field to utilize his last ability.
both of those spells mentioned above could give you the same effect faster than building up to tezzeret for the same actions.
entomb is work able the only catch is with bomberman we need two artifacts on the field or in the yard which is why intuition keeps coming up.
the idea of Artificer's Intuition actually looked like it might be of some use.
the issue is were still split between, is we need to fetch up a combo of creature and generic artifacts, but the best search spells don't tailor to both.
all to easily tezz might give you artifact after artifact but end up causing you to put a salvagers on the bottom.
this is slightly less an issue when your combining bomber and painter mixed in the deck.

I like entomb, cause it can tutor anything in the deck that you need, reanimate salvagers, crack LED and win. or with salvagers in play, you could entomb an LED and win, provided you have 1W open.
Well, living wish and green tutor could work, but you still have the split problems.

Here is the build I will try tomorrow night:

just for sake of noting I did notice that LED with ensnaring bridge might be of some use to us as it essentially can in theory shut down all aggro.
i'm also considering going back to adapt infernal tutor to the build. to take advantage of LED.

Well, I want 6 spot removal. Since the deck revolves around Trinket mage a-bomb as a 3-of is a logical choice + it provides the infinite draw, so that's obvious.
It boiled down to this in my selection of the last 3 slots.
Swords to Plowshares, Vindicate or another counterspell (e.g. Spell Snare), or more bounce echoing truth could potentialy work here.
Vindicate is really utility. Gets rid of, Planeswalkers, Manlands etc.
Do you think I should run swords over vindicate?

but it does hit just about everything so running it over swords makes sense, in order to keep the deck from being too controlish. something just doesn't seem right in leaving our only removal up a 3cc spell. (but thats my gut talking.)
I say stick with it unless you start to see an issue with the amount of mana it costs.

i was fishing around with a search for transmute cards and stumbled across Clutch of the Undercity. for 4cc it bounces stuff or 1:symb::symu: it transmutes into tezz or salvagers.

with this list, i still have no idea for the SB.
if i would be using chrome mox rather than mox opal, i might as well add, Fire/ice to the list, but still thinking. also, i'd like to propose a plan C for bomberman. origin spellbomb + emrakul = infinite token/draw then walk. what do you think? is it too much?

My "Plan C" is Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas for now. He is a good control card. Don't forget you can Target your opponent's Blightsteel Colossus and make it 5/5... way more manageable to deal with.
If you look at my list, "My plan D" is aggro plan from the Board. Phyrexian Dreadnought + Stifle is a potential turn 2, 12/12 Trampler.
Emerakul isn't bad, but that my be too fancy. If you look at my plans:
Plan A: Bomberman, Pyrite bombs Infinite
Plan B: Mill with the Painter
Plan C: Tezz Impulses for artifacts, Makes them 5/5, then ultimates for win or buys time
Plan D: Aggro with Massive Dreadnoughts.
My SB Plan is an additional Enlightened Tutor can grab painters win cons or Dreadnoughts, Ensaring Bridge or Engineered Plague, or Moat, Propaganda, etc. Opens up toolbox Enchantments on the Board.
IMHO, I'm going with Story Circle robably.
On another note: I don't like Mox Opal. Chrome mox may be difficult to run, because you have a lot of artifacts. Mox diamond is probably still the best option: you can fetch an Artifact land with trinket mage, then discard to Mox Diamond if the situation calls for it.

-----------------------------------
I also found this necrotic ooze combination and am not sure where to put it. basically its necrotic ooze on the field as usual but you have salvagers in the yard with Orzhov Guildmage.
basically you can use lion's eye with ooze copying the salvagers ability and the amassed mana can be spent on the guildmages abilities copied by ooze.
where i'm at a loss is the proper method for setting all that up. gamekeeper doesn't set things up in that position, so did not think the post would work in golden grahams.
despite using necrotic ooze and stuff in the graveyard to me it doesn't quite feel like a cephalid breakfast kill either.
what do you think?

2 Necrotic OOze
1 Orzhov Guildmage
1 Phyrexian Devourer
1 Triskelion
4 Dark Ritual
4 Worldly Tutor
----------------------------
This is Kind of a Tanget but: I boarded in Stifle + Phyrexian Dreadnought as alternate win con. They will be boarding in Lots of GY hate after they lose game 1 to salvagers.
It almost worked, i tried it against Merfolk though ... needless to say it didn't work lol Dazed it lmao...

the potentials i see in ooze is you can let salvagers land in a graveyard and still have 1-4 extra sudo salvagers in the form of necrotic ooze yet to draw.
second it plays with the decision making of people who drop phyrexian revoker or pithing needles.
there more but there not coming to mind at the moment

for the most part the shell you have already accomidates the fusion of the two combos. I suppose buried alive might be the better option over intuition so nothing of importance gets stuck in your hand. however were already running lions eyes so we have means already to discard into the yard anything crucial that got stuck in the hand. for those frequent situations graveyard oriented decks run into.

2 necrotic ooze
3 auriok salvagers
2 trinket mage
1 phyrexian devourer
1 triskelion
1 Orzhov Guildmage
3 lion's eye diamond

Interesting. So I guess you didn't have any room for Buried Alive? Intuition is perhaps better IMO... I have a few Oozes, I might slap this together, see if it's worth it.
3 Trinket Mage
1 Goblin Welder
3 Auriok Salvagers
2 Painter's Servant
Throw in some E. Tutors and you will be able to fetch anything you need at any point in time.
