Hey All,
I have been playing Standard quite a bit lately, been dabbling a little in Modern and am curious about expanding into Legacy. My problem is that I don't have several thousand dollars to partake and not get destroyed every, single, match. Anyhow, WAY back in the day, Stasis was one of my all time, friend-loss-risk decks. So here's a super budget friendly deck list, that I've played tested with some pretty credible success. Eager if ya'all think it's pretty solid for some LGS tourney play?
I would just add that Chronatog is super fly but also not very good
I'm a fan of splashing green as well, Crop Rotation gives you access to a lot of interesting effects like Glacial Chasm also, which can buy you a good number of turns as you set things up. And the consistency you'll get from have 8x Forsaken City means you don't need the 'tog and maybe not even the Tezz/Seat combo you're running. Plus Root Maze is x10 better than Frozen Aether
Green also gives you an actual wincon in Nissa, Sage Animist, who untaps lands for lethal damage with her ult. Might be a little janky, but hey we're playing stasis aren't we?
Another point - free counters are really good. You have Daze which is great, and this is budget section so I won't suggest Force of will but Misdirection is a decent alternative, and actually is slightly better than FoW in some niche cases. For example, it works against Abrupt Decay, unlike other counters, and the decay is a very common answer to your strategy
Not really sure what your sideboard is supposed to be doing though it isn't terrible - might be nice to have an answer to storm somewhere in there? Stifle maybe? Essence Scatter seems pretty meh. I guess Select for Inspection is decent against Reanimator and Marit Lage and ok against Show and Tell if they don't have Sneak Attack... Going green will give you more sideboard options as well, including lifegain, which will help against Burn (I hear Burn is a bad matchup for Stasis)
