So I really like the NicFit archtype and i've been trying to create an abzan version of the deck playing Knight of the Reliquary, the Dark Depths-combo along with a Stoneforge-Package because Jitte is busted with an army of smaller creatures to support it and some Hatebears to protect against the faster Combodecks in the meta.
I know the Shocks are more than suboptimal, but I really can't afford any Duals ATM and my Playgroup isn't that competitive anyways. Eventually i plan to upgrade though..
So what do you guys think, any suggestions that aren't too expensive?
Also i'm having trouble deciding what to cut, i'd aprreciate the help..
I feel like you have a lot of one/two-ofs of white creatures that you don't have a good way to tutor for, including your sort of centerpiece Stoneforge. I think you might benefit from trimming a few of these, like Wingmare or Heretic Cathar, and squeezing in an extra copy of Stoneforge and/or a Recruiter of the Guard or two. Getting Batterskull in here would be a good addition as well, I feel, in case you draw a Stoneforge while you've already got Jitte in your hand.

This deck looks like Maverick with some Nic-Fit mixed in, which is honestly the opposite of the direction I'd go. The 2 cores of Maverick are the Knight engine and the white hatebears + SFM. I have been myself working on building Nic-Fit with a knight package and I think that's relatively unexplored territory. Though your land base gets a little messy it may work. On the other hand all my playing of mystic in the deck has left me feeling like it's a bad idea. The vet engine is not really synergistic with that strategy. Similarly, what you get from bet is the ability to play stuff like Walkers, Deed and a more spell based control game based around GSZ. The Thalia's kind of work counter to that.

Just saw this thread. You might be interested in the build of Nic Fit I play which is called SE Fit. SE Fit basically tries to be a blue deck without running blue, with high amounts of filtering and card draw to give consistency. At first glance that may not sound like Maverick, but what I've found with SE Fit is that minimizing your curve gets to be really good. This allows you to use mana ramp to create velocity rather than big bodies, and the CA maintains velocity.
I'm doing a 12 round league with my build right now and I'm sitting at 7-1-1. Here's the list:
This doesn't have all the Maverick parts, but the GSZ's are similar, you get KotR's, your curve is lower/more reliable, and you get the consistency of a mana engine.
If you want, you can swap the Ranger of Eos package (Ranger, Endless One, Safekeeper) for a half SFM package (1 SFM/2 equipment or 2 SFM 1 equipment) but I've found Ranger to work better than equipment. SFM builds work best with a totally different setup.
When it comes to your build specifically, I think you're trying to do too many things and forgetting to pay the format tax. You don't have enough interaction to stop the things your opponent is doing, and your opponent is doing more powerful things than you.

life from the loam wouldn't be bad either to recur GQ, and a tranquil thicket could be used for some card advantage.
