While I'm waiting for some cards to come in the mail, or become available my my LGS, I've decided to try to port my modern version of the legacy deck over. Think of it like Port-ception if you will. In fact, we can call it Sc00ters, which is the off brand Cheeri0s in the US.
Other than the inconspicuous shock lands, any tips on the deck? I could up the Cheeri0s count by cutting down on the Brainstorms and Flusterstorms, or I cut the Opals, but I'm bot sure the deck has the proper mana sources to go off. I'm just now getting into Legacy Combo, so I'm unsure about some of it's finer points.
Edit: I could also run Eladamri's Call in place of Worldly, but I like the speed that Worldly gives me, so I'm kind of up in the air on that choice.
I really liked the idea!
I just don't know if this is more fragile than original Cheeri0s because this version looks more mana hungry and doesn't rely on green mana sources (Land Grant, Elvish Spirit Guide, Wild Cantor, etc); besides, it doesn't draw multiple cards per equipment unless you cast more Paladins; finally, it doesn't seem to win via alpha strike like Cheerios might try (with Goblin Bushwacker).
I'd:
- goldfish some hundreds of hands to see if the manabase is solid.
- ditch Flusterstorm and put Pact of Negation, if any.
- sideboard Lab Maniac + Chromatic Sphere as an alt win.
- put all 24 sc00ters.
I cut the Brainstorms for Gitaxian Probes, and Flusterstorms for Misdirections. It's a lot better with these changes. The issues with this build over regular Cheeri0s is that you loose the turn one win (it's possible, but so unlikely that I disregard it), you can't really get multiple Paladins in play, unlike Glimpse of Nature, and you don't have access to the same number of Cheeri0s/Sc00ters. The good things are that you can recover from a fizzle easier, you can run some amount of protection mainboard (you could run FOW if you had it) and that's about it. The decks can both try to win the traditional way, with Cheeri0s using Bushwacker or Beastmaster Ascension, and with Sc00ters swinging with a well equipped Paladin.
Overall I do think that Cheeri0s is probably the better deck, but I think Scooters isn't that far behind, and with most of it's pieces transferring to Modern, it's good enough for me to have some fun with. I'll try to remember any major changes I make to the deck and update the thread every now and then. I know Cheeri0s is budget, but I've managed to pick up the pieces of this for an even lower cost! Value!

Will think more about it later. Cheers!
