So this is what I've put together. I only had to spend about $350 on top of what I already had for modern, and it's full of cards I've always wanted to play with.
Please do not suggest duals/wastelands/Tarmogoyf. If I could afford them, I'd already have them in here. I'm also going to ask you don't recommend me to just play another deck. I want to play Junk Stoneblade as competitively as I can (in some form or another). Other than those things, I'm open to any advise, tips, and general help I'm offered.
Hooting Mandrills / Tasigur, the Golden Fang (especially this one) do a nice impersonation of Goyf, and Tasigur gives you mana sink + some form of card advantage. I would rather run Sword of Feast and Famine instead of the lone top, it can't be even searched for, and you don't have Counterbalance either. Adding 1 more decay instead of one Thoughtseize / Hymn to Tourach, because those cards can be dead when you draw them lategame. And finally, moving at least two Liliana to the front can give you a pretty good game against Combo on top of more outs to True Name Nemesis when coupled with Judgement. Running 1-2 Stirring Wildwoods as a backup beater isn't out of question either.
It really depends on your meta. If you have alot of burn, in your meta it impacts you in a different way than if you are combo heavy or what not.
I like Mandrils and Taigur as cards, but they are pretty painful for a deck running Dark Confident, especially with shocks/thoughtseize, and fetches to boot. Against burn, you might do half their job for them. I'd even consider Inquisition of Kozilek over thoughtseize. I highly agree with the idea of running 4 abrupt decay. That card is a catch all and honestly even swords to plowshares or path to exile cost 2 when you have to play around daze.
Most of my junk experience is from a nic fit shell, but most of the lists I see run 3 hymms instead of 4. I think its a weaker topdeck and of course, double black on turn two could sometimes be a problem.
I'd think of Knight of the Reliquary fills gofs shoes pretty well. Plus you can do cute things if you own Karakas, Dark Depths (With Thespian's Stage), Bojuka Bog, and Maze of Ith. A single Karakas is really powerful because it answers alot of cheated cards into play, like Griselbrand or Eldrezai,
I don't think Mom or Lod Smiter are good in your shell, while I think Lil might be better in mainboard rather than sideboard.
Green Sun's Zenith is banned in modern for good reason. It plays nice with Dark Confidant, plus you can run 1's to benefit--Scavenging Ooze, finds your knights of Req, Mr. Teeg if you want to run one mainboard, and even odd ball stuff like Dryad Militant. I was reading about a guy using the Militant as an answer to dredge...basically it turns off their dread returns and is great against decks using cabal therapy and even some storm variants with past in flames. If you someday open a gorf (if he gets reprinted in MM2 for example), it lets you effectively run 5 for the price of one. Maverick is well known for running a toolbox of answers, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suit other decks to do it as well. It makes stuff like top a little less necessary since you can find your silver bullets without it and honestly more effectively. Top's one nice perk is making your top decks less painful with confident.
Manriki-Gusari might be nice sideboard tech to battle what other stoneforge mystics find across the table.
I really appreciate you guys help, and you've given me lots to think about. I'll be adjusting my list to incorporate your suggestions. Probably cutting Mom/Smiter/Top to add the Sword, Lili, and Decay, and then adjusting other numbers of other cards to see about fitting a Green Sun's Package in.
Again, thank you, really, for helping me get the best legacy experience I can.
