Brainstorm is not very good if you don't have fetchlands, so normally you replace it with Ponder. Thirst for Knowledge is strictly worse than Preordain in a combo deck.
Misdirection costs around 4 bucks if you get the conspiracy version, so yay!
What he said. You want your creatures to cost 0-1 mana and require no activation cost. Things like Factory and Guardian Idol mean you need to pay 3U for Polymorph PLUS more mana to activate your creature. That's just way too much mana for Legacy. You might as well just ramp into hardcast Griselbrand at that point. You want to spend AT MOST 3U on your combo turn.
That means:
1) Creatures with no activation cost
2) Free counterspells to protect you (e.g. Misdirection, Daze, maybe Disrupting Shoal or something janky like Thwart or Foil)
3) Creatures that reliably come down before you hit 3-4 mana (if you are playing turn 3 Staff, you want your creature out before that already!)
4) Card selection that comes online immediately (turn 3 is too late)
5) Mana acceleration to reach 3U earlier (e.g. Ancient Tomb, Chrome Mox, Lotus Petal)
Hopefully that explains some of Spooky's choices over yours. His list emphasizes the need for tempo and mana efficiency in Legacy. Also, Wind Zendikon is a pretty respectable 1cc creature on its own. Trades with Delver and doubles as a back-up win condition.
I wonder if Swan Song is worth it. A cheap hard counter, good when opponent is trying to play around Daze/Spell Pierce, and if you're stuck on creatures you can randomly counter your own cantrip.

Mana base
So... what do you think? How do I push polymorph/emrakul over the top?
2 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
Spells [39]
4 Daze
2 Echoing Truth
4 Flayer Husk
4 Lotus Petal
4 Misdirection
4 Polymorph
4 Ponder
4 Preordain
3 Proteus Staff
2 Spell Pierce
4 Wind Zendikon
4 Ancient Tomb
11 Island
4 Khalni Garden
Expedition Map is not needed, Guardian Idol is outclassed by Flayer Husk, and Awakening Zone is outclassed by Wind Zendikon. Chimeric Mass and Origin Spellbomb are also worth consideration.
