I built this deck to play casually with my roommate four years ago, and it's been sitting unsleeved in a box for a while now, and I throw stuff in it that fits the theme. Since fetchlands are being reprinted I was wondering how I could optimize it. This is what is in the box:
I'm wondering how competitive it can be: Legacy format is a total mystery to me. I would like to have a deck I could play at the shop but I don't expect miracles out of an unused archetype.
Well I can tell you that depending on your budget you won't be winning any tournaments. I can help make the deck better though. Did you want to stick to the bird theme? There is a similar deck stickied in the budget forums that you could check out as well. What kind of budget do you have?
I think I saw a Legacy viable Birds deck at some point... You definitely want some spells to interact with the opponent. I think it went something like this:
That's not budget though. You can replace the duals with shocklands and FoW with Spell Pierce or something. That would radically reduce the cost of the deck.
Hi there. It would probably be worth looking at the 'Angry Birds' thread here in the budget Legacy section. There are 11 pages to read through but the discussion is pretty good and probably could really help you build your birds deck. Here's what I run currently. It's priced reasonably (sub $300) which is a little more affordable than the deck FTW1987 posted. You could easily start with something more budget and then slowly build up to something like the list he posted. And honestly, with the low prices on fetch lands due to the reprint in the upcoming set, I'd consider snatching up some Flooded Strand to incorporate. Anyways, here's what I'm running right now:
It's got a reasonably fast clock (with built in evasion obviously), low curve, plenty of disruption (Judge's Familiar, Swords to Plowshares, Spellstutter Sprite, Lyev Skyknight, Jitte), plenty of card advantage (Stoneforge, Sky Hussar, Sword of Fire and Ice, Squadron Hawk, Seaside Haven) and generally just plays well. You're pretty much guaranteed to do well with it in your casual environment (unless the kitchen table is ridiculously high powered and with some good practice and a decent SB, you can probably hold your own in the local Legacy meta unless it's all top tier stuff.

Force of Will is kind of like duct tape. Stick it in a deck and it will fix all your problems.
What would a game of Magic between Harry Potter and Voldemort look like?
4 Mindshrieker
4 Keeper of the Nine Gales
4 Emeria Angel
2 Airborne Aid
4 Soulcatcher
4 Soulcatchers' Aerie
1 Lieutenant Kirtar
4 Counterspell
4 Mana Leak
4 Divination
3 Azorius Chancery
4 Evolving Wilds
3 Terramorphic Expanse
3 Seaside Haven
4 Sejiri Refuge
I like the thought of Athreos, God of Passage as a recursion engine. Baleful Strix would add to card draw. I do have 2 Crucible of Worlds that might be good for fetchlands and I am already planning to buy a Mutavault when they cycle.
Budget restriction: $25 a card
