I was recently reading the primer for MUD stompy on here, and it seemed like a fun deck to play. I tested it a few times with proxies, and it was amazing! It currently costs more than $1000, so this will definitely be hard. Is there any way to make this work with, say, a $400 dollar budget? Thanks!
I'm also pretty new to the legacy scene, so bear with me if I don't figure some things out.
Pretty sure you absolutely need wastelands and city of traitors, which are $100 and $80 apiece respectively on SCG, so that's kind of an issue. You can try Crystal Vein or Sandstone needle as poor City of Traitors replacements. Ghost quarter is like wasteland if the opponent has no basics. You also need Metalworkers and Grim monoliths which are not cheap.
I guess it depends on your local metagame: is it super competitive, or are you likely to be playing against other budget decks?
I've seen the deck done without Metalworkers, but monoliths are a must for it to work. The meta is mostly other budget decks, although there are one of two competitive tier one decks there.
It all depends on how "true" you want to stick to the original lists. The Mud deck that I wrote about in this article is pretty good for budget, and you can add on to it by the looks of things, considering it is half of your budget.
with this list you are actually really close to a legit MUD deck. You are basically only missing the City of Traitors and Wastelands. Once you get those you can upgrade the Urza tron to 12 post and you have everything.
I really like that list, and it looks like a lot of fun to play. I will sleeve up some proxies and do testing! If I have money for it, would you suggest 12-post instead of Urzatron?
Yeah, when it comes down to it you probably want 12-post at some point. Urza tron is just so cheap though. I would get wastelands and city of traitors before getting 12 post.
