Recently legacy has really picked up in my area. One store has really been supporting legacy doing a no proxy tournament every Tuesday. Last night we had 8 players with a very diverse field;
MUD
Death and taxes
Miracles
Dredge
Fish
ANT
Infect
Burn
I had to run 2 shocklands in my ANT because I am a broke scrub, but otherwise all the builds were solid.
I am wondering if little old Boise idaho can support a small but healthy legacy scene, how is everyone else's scene doing right now?
there's a few players who just play legacy around here
I believe one of them has some kind of belcher deck, some show and tell variant, merfolk and maybe even affinity
another guy has some variant of belcher, burn and possibly a few more decks
I think it could be picking up again as people are trying to trade into dual lands
I'd like to trade into pox as a starter deck while I trade into more staples
People have been asking for more Legacy around here the past few months, and we had a pretty good showing at our Black Friday Legacy tournament (I believe it was 13 people, perhaps more). It's definitely picking up. In fact, lately, we've been playing practically every format under the sun, sans Standard... poor Standard.
Portland area Legacy has been slowly growing for a few years. Went from a sometimes-firing Saturday to now having Thursday, Saturday, and every-other-Sunday fire regularly. Was a lot of people coming right before the GP; but it's calmed down to usually firing at 12-ish on Thursday (and I don't know on Sat since I usually can't make it.)
We're starting up a Legacy Night at my LGS in Crystal Lake, IL. Do you have any tips or advice for us? We've already got a good amount of interest (6-14ish people). We're going to start off allowing some number of proxies and then scale that number down as the year goes on.
We had another store in the area do a $10 entry fee and put most of it toward prizes in the form of legacy staples. One week, first place got a trop. That certainly got people in the door and it's a good way for people to pick up the expensive cards they need for legacy.
There's a small, but mostly consistent group of us at a store here in the San Diego, CA area. We play once a week and often have 9-12 players. We do $10 entry fee and the prizes are store credit or booster packs.
We have a Facebook group for boise area players. All events get advertised there. That seems to be the most effective way to get the word out. It's easy to update people on last minute changes like when they had enough in the pot to put up a trop as the prize.
Yeah, I often feel that our prizes are a little underwhelming, but it is a weekly event and the group is small. The people are nice and good at Legacy though, so I'm glad I get to play with them.

Reality is only what man allows it to be. Few shape it so that many may accept it.

@Eretoryi do folks ever go for booster packs? Seems like a paltry prize for Legacy players.
