I'm visiting an old friend from out of town in a couple of weeks and we are planning to play some casual Magic during my visit. We thought it would be fun to proxy a couple of overpowered Tier 1 or 2 legacy decks to play with.
On that vein, I'm looking for recommendations of 2 or 3 established decks that are evenly balanced. I'm familiar with a few decks from legacy, but I have no idea what the match-ups are like. Some decks I think would be fun to try are Dredge, Delver, Death and Taxes. Since we want to play for fun I'm trying to avoid decks that would lead to super long annoying games (for example Miracles, although I'm not sure if Death and Taxes falls into that category).
BUG Delver and RUG Delver are hilariously fun to play against one another.
Isn`t that matchup quite lopsided in BUG`s favour though? I don`t know, I`ve just heard.
Death & Taxes vs. a Delver variant sounds like a load of fun.
RUG is definitely on the faster side and having the ability to burn out someone is about as scary as getting a threat decayed. With that said I've only watched a match between the two variants once or twice but it didn't look like it was in either players favor.
Mirrors in general tend to be fun unless it's miracles or dredge.

With the banning of twin comes the end of an era...
My favorite matchup to play is Burn vs. Miracles (slightly favors burn but very balanced). I like playing it from both sides.. setting up the stack vs. counter lock to eke out the win or trying to stabilize as miracles is super fun.
I also really like Goblins vs. RUG Delver... its a pretty balanced matchup, as both players run manabases to cripple the opponent.. you can have some really degenerate games and some really fun ones too. Goblins has legitimate ways to answer goyfs, and the delver player has a gameplan to stall goblins enough to fly over with delver.. its great.

Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
