I thought this was a bit of interesting news. The main Legacy event for GP Kyoto has sold out of preregistration seats. A few seats do remain for trial winners, but those are very limited and you have to earn them. This is Asia's first Legacy GP, and with a cap of 1,980 players, hopefully it won't be the last. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the results of this event.
This does not surprise me. I live in Australia and I know 3 people locally that are going. Having an event like this in our part of the world more often would be nice and prove this is not fluke.
It sold out less than a week into an 8-week pre-registration period. Wizards really needs to hold more Legacy GPs, especially in cities with sufficiently large convention centers to accommodate everyone.

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
Well, this is the first Legacy GP in Asia for a reason; they probably didn't expect it to be popular because of card availability issues, and the ilk. I don't know that Kyoto doesn't have space to accommodate so many people...I think they just didn't want to spend the money to rent out such a big space (especially in Japan where everything is expensive), given that Limited GPs here are about 2250 people so I would I guess they thought that less than 2000 was a reasonable number. While I'm sad that it looks like so many people who already made plans can't go, I'm glad we sent such a strong message by selling the place out in a week, and I hope that Wizards considers having more Asian GPs in the future.
Well, here in Beijing, folks are really into the game but very rarely have the chance to play one of the faraway GPs in the US. Accordingly, a lot of my friends plan(ned) on going to Kyoto to play this one, their only shot at a Legacy GP in living memory and the horizon. There are probably a few hundred players from China alone registered for the event, and I'm sure there are plenty from elsewhere in Asia adding to the considerable number of local Japanese players.
It's no surprise that they sold out so early, and I'm certainly glad they did. We will definitely have another Asian Legacy GP in short order, that is if we can find some organizers who still like money.

With how quickly Kyoto has sold out hopefully this will lead to more events for Legacy players over on that side of the world too.
Heck, Legacy could really use more GP's and other WOTC support in general. I dont even think the east coast is getting one this year.
