An incredibly powerful card has been left in the shadows and I wonder how come? Is it because of the fall of the SFM decks running the format, or just the aftershock of TC meta that people have forgotten it and just haven't returned to it yet? This card was the talk of the town and I'm just seeing it in Modern.
The card is fine, though people seem to overlook it now. One of the things was DRS being printed, gave it a bad stigma to:
1) Run Snap alongside DRS (IMO it's not that bad to run them together, though I agree that there can be some dis-synergy)
2) Play it vs. DRS because DRS can remove the targeted card while you're playing Snap. You can still play around it though -- like, response to DRS activation, flash in Snap and target the card DRS is trying to exile (of course, this means that you're probably using Snap during your end turn, which sucks, but still...it's not like DRS straight up shuts down Snapcaster).
Then Cruise and Dig were printed, and everyone thought that the two can't coexist in the same deck, which IMO was a really dumb notion. :/ Neither really hinders the other particularly much. But nonetheless its popularity went down further.
But the main reason Snapcaster lost a bit of stock is that for full value, he can be a bit costly mana-wise; he's kind of a 3-drop if not more. This is fine if say, you put it in a midrange deck like Stoneblade or late game decks like Miracles, but the Treasure Cruise meta demanded a more fast-paced game, so decks like Jeskai Delver and Jeskai Stoneblade (BBD version) ran Young Pyromancer, TNN, and SFM instead. Though, he did still see play in lists like Jeskai Stoneblade (Rudy Briksza). Blade decks as a whole haven't been as popular lately, and you see Delver/a bunch of other crazy things instead, so Snap doesn't really fit in all those kinds of decks. Of note, UR Landstill really likes Snapcaster.
The card is still fine, but he's 3-mana or more gain incremental advantage, and sometimes depending on the deck, it's not quite enough. He was better in Cruise meta than DRS, because IMO gaining card advantage/value out of your grave cards were better than DRS's attempt at grave control and basically being a 2-damage-per-turn-sometimes-ramp dork. But because Snap is "just" card advantage, and he doesn't quite carry the game on his own, AND he can be expensive (in legacy standards), his impact isn't felt quite as large as in Modern. I'll admit, he *felt* better earlier in his lifespan, but I can't conscientiously say he's actually bad now; I think Snapcaster is still very very good.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
The last Miracles deck to top eight at a SCG open (way back in December) ran one. A list took ninth place in Washington last month running zero. It's clearly playable in the deck, but hardly necessary. Sure, the card is "fine", but not exactly a top tiered staple (even in the one deck which runs it).
Edit - results in from Houston. Miracles made 2nd, 3rd, 12th, and 13th - running zero, three, one, and three Snappies respectively.
It's fallen a bit out of favor, didn't notice it as it fell though. It'll probably make a resurgence at some point, but delve and Snappy didn't mesh well.
STATISTICS.
All of these "Let's eliminate bad cards" crusades are simply ignorant. And when they start to devolve into "WotC is conspiring to give us crappy cards," they just become embarrassing. MATH is conspiring to give you crappy cards.
Snapcaster costs too much mana. Three mana is generally the limit for playable Legacy spells unless you're using sol lands or Gaea's Cradle, and neither of those plays well with Snapcaster. That means Snapcaster is limited to flashing back 1 CC spells, and there's not many 1 CC spells whose effect plus a 2/1 body is worth spending three mana on.
Well, I play Miracles, and I wouldn't want to bring it to the table without Snapcaster Mage. It's a favorite card and immensely useful. I am not particularly shocked that he isn't played in more decks, however, as one needs to be reasonably assured of several things to get value out of him in Legacy.
1) We will get to the late game, such that I will have mana to use Snappy;
2) I will have enough good targets in my graveyard to make Snappy an instant-speed Regrowth with legs;
3) I will be able to use Snapcaster's body for value, either by trading in combat or damaging my opponent.
There aren't a whole lot of decks that fit these criteria, and some of them are pressured in the metagame by Miracles. Deathblade and Stoneblade made great use of Snapcaster as well, using the third function excellently as a body to hold equipment.
Snapcaster was doing well in UR/Delver... then UR/Delver pick-up a better creature. Monastery Swiftspear and it seemed reasonable for UR Delver to play 2cc Young Pyromancer than Snapcaster.
I don't think Snapcaster is worth 40 dollars! maybe if he drops to 5 dollars we might see more play, but I doubt it.

That's not how a card sees more play; I don't think a few dollars off the price is gonna make people want to play him more. Also, he's $40, because he's not going to be reprinted in Modern Masters 2 and because he sees regular play in Modern as a 4-of. And he still sees some play in Legacy here and there -- depending on the deck.

People are willing to pay 40 dollars for snapcaster so it's worth that much. I'm sure you don't think tarmogoyf is worth $200 either but people are paying that much for goyf. Price tag is not a deterrent especially in legacy except in the case of some fringe cards like candelabra and tabernacle that have next to no supply on the market but even then people still play with the cards.
Snapcaster is too inefficient in legacy typically and delve interacts very poorly with snapcaster. Miracles can run it just as easily as it can't as miracles is heavily customizable with no set best list at all. Deathrite shaman didn't help either as deathrite shaman is a much better card than snapcaster mage especially in the context of legacy.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."

This. It's not that graveyard use will ever go away, it's that no deck really needs to attack for 2 that badly. Equipment decks are really the only ones.
I think most decks now would rather save 1 mana and use more Ponder to get to the next real copy of a spell rather than paying that 1 mana to get a 2/1. In my eye, use of Meddling Mage and Tidehollow Sculler has also dropped off. They're just 1-2 mana too expensive against unfair decks, and do close to nothing on the ground against fair decks with Goyf's, DRS, elves, and Thalia. It's near pointless to have a 2/1 ground creature at that point, and the decks I've seen recently using Snappy were mostly just chumping with the body.

I've heard it's a term for UWr Dig Through Time Midrange-Control. It can be rather like Miracles, except without the CounterTop Miracles.

In his Second 100 days - Yawgmoth's Bargain is unrestricted in Vintage.
