What purpose does this card serve in the sideboard/maindeck of decks that already play 4 maindeck copies of Abrupt Decay The only minor relevant target i can think of is a Sneak Attack Are their other interactions that make this card a worthy sideboard inclusion in GBx decks?
The split second is sometimes relevant too... Batterskull, jitte with counters, sensei's top, helm of obedience. I generally just bring it in against blade decks and MUD.
Without it Batterskull can be impossible to kill, since they can just return it to hand in response to every other kill spell. And although it isn't worth usually bringing in to kill Sensei's Divining Tops alone, it is basically the only card that can kill Tops.

Other than, you know, Abrupt Decay that's already a 4x.
Like others said, mostly for Batterskull but also good for SDT & CB.
No. If you target Top, they just tap it to draw. Which means you have to use Decay in response to a shuffle like a fetch activation or a tap itself. In both of those cases, you're -1 card advantage, plus with the shuffle the SDT is still in their deck. Abrupt Decay is slightly better at removing Counterbalance than Krosan Grip is, but Grip is significantly better at removing SDT. As SDT tends to be the more important card, Grip is a lot better against Countertop in specific.
Hits humility and other gamebreakers that cost more than 3 mana. Can't be responded to is a plus as well unless it's targeting something like petal, chrome mox, or LED/mana abilities can be activated. It's a fine magic card and one that doesn't see enough love in sideboards I think.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
You can kill tops with Abrupt Decay when they tap the thing to draw a card. The tap is part of the activation cost and you can respond to that and kill the top when it is already tapped and cannot be tapped in response. It's still a +1 for them though because they get the card from the top effect on the stack even if the top is no longer in play to go on top.
Krosan Grip is good against Batterskull, SDT, Inkmoth Nexus (and other manland artifacts), Omniscience sometimes and Counterbalance in a pinch, etc. It's also really good at times against random lists trying to do something unusual. A combo list putting Hive Mind into play but having to cast a spell to use Pact of Negation on to kill you, they play the Hive Mind, they play their spell and in response you grip the Hive Mind and live to see another turn.
