I've gotten a few sets of cards from Ebay that were commander; Ovinomancer (snake dude), something else, and now a singleton Titania.
I honestly thought the ovinios (and the other card set, whatever it was) were fakes because they were shinier than the others. That said, who wants to fake a dollar "rare"?
Anyway, The Titania I just received is also noticeably glossy and I can't decide (given that it's only been commander products I've seen this on) if this is a feature or if I've been buying fake commander singles. I'm curious if any others have experienced this and can comment on whether I should harass the ebayer for a return due to faulty merchandise.
The seller passes the "sniff check" by having a reasonable 5k ebay transactions.
What do you think?
Seems that maybe all premades are like that... At least the Commander and Duel Deck lines. Not sure about Intros and Event Decks.
Nearly all supplemental products are like this - they're printed by outside sources. Product that come in booster boxes like modern masters and conspiracy have the normal feeling. So some expensive cards like stomping ground and verdant catacombs have been in event decks, so there are glossier versions of them out there, but they're still real.
