A few thoughts:
I watched almost all the SCG coverage and they had only 2-3 rounds that didn't have one player playing a delver strategy.
All day they were saying there was a ton of burn and delver running around the top tables, but only 2 delver strategies made it.
I was worried Treasure Cruise was going to take over the format. I'm sure it was everywhere, but it's nice to see a ton of diversity in the top 8
There was only 4 Delver strategies in the Top 16. I have no problem with that
Very disappointed I never saw a Misdirection on a Treasure Cruise
Landstill deck was the most surprising top 8 inclusion
I love watching legacy.
So many varieties of decks.
Really shows that playing the same deck for a long time rewards the player regardless of the meta.
What did you think?
you cant play misdirection on TC, say "draw X card" NOT "target player draw X card".
t8 is not representative: look the final standings, to see a more representative metagame you need +36 point list, that are at least 50 players with that score.

You can't use Misdirection on Treasure Cruise.
Interesting Top 8. Though these didn't make Top 8, seeing Lands and Foodchains do well was pretty cool too.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Shucks, I'm disappointed that the one MUD guy that Top 8'd didn't play Loreseeker's Stone. I've found that the card is great in 12-Post MUD builds--it draws cards for cheap enough very fast.
Didn't expect Infect to get this far. Nice how diverse it is, and here I thought it was going to be littered with UR Delver everywhere.
And when did Patriot turn into Jeskai Stoneblade? (Heck, nobody even uses any of the Enemy Swords anymore, and the namesake of Stoneforge + Some Sword disappears)
Well that makes sense why nobody cast Misdirection
I saw somebody do that with a Ancestral Recall so I just assumed it could be done with treasure cruise
Good thing I didn't hold my breath
Should be a fun finals
Tom Ross winning with regular damage was insane.
I bet he can count on one hand how many times he has done that in an tourney
This is coverage of a professional event, not of FNM or whatever. They should spotlight the best players and the best decks.
But how can they predict the future and known which decks are going to be the best in advance? Isn't this like a self-fulfilling prophecy? Why not assume that all players are there to win?
Prediction is very difficult, especially if it's about the future. Give variety a chance, at least early on in the tourney.
It's not hard to figure out the top tier decks of a format, and the top players consistently do well. Predicting that strong players playing strong decks will do well is not a long shot.
But I totally get what you mean. I'm sure I've seen it before. I wish I could recall fully, but it was on an SCG event on camera. I'm not talking about a Top activation, either.
Unfortunately every try hard from Sacramento to Shanghai preaches from the top of their 27 lands + Mana Reflection that Tooth and Nail and Time Stretch are fine to play in the same turn but Armageddon is unfair.
You can put like a token or something on top of your deck to act as a remind, just not a card. Most people will use a die or something.
I'd always thought it was silly, but Necro players used to put Necro on top of their library to remind them they have necro in play. I'd never thought if it was legal or not because I was just starting to learn how to play the game at the time.
As a side note, did anybody see Feline's interview on High Tide? I thought it was very good and she handled it very well. Was nice to put a face with the name.

The rules were pretty loose back then and not at all fleshed out like today's competitive REL. It may not have been a problem back then. That said, I wouldn't put too much stock in how rules were enforced during that era.

Missed the interview, but I'm happy to see Storm take 3rd! I've always felt that Storm doesn't see as much play as it should due to its difficulty, but it seems like the best answer to Treasure Cruise is to kill them before they can cast it. It's also a nice blend of ANT/TES with the disruption package, but it's a bit odd to not see Empty the Warrens in the 'board, especially when you're already playing Cabal Therapy. The basics are a nice touch as well. Looks like Burning Wish was shelved to make accomodations for it since the deck plays so little red.
Also, MUD taking first- Metalworker is such a dumb card. I remember when it got unbanned and playing it and people asking me if it was legal- my reply was "it's legal, not fair." Good to see such diverse results at last!

I played against a wide range of different decks on day 1. Tin fins, lands, ANT, Infect, Zoo, Sneak and Show, Deadguy Ale, and Dredge. I managed to dodge all the delver, miracles, burn, and blade lists which seems like a feat in of itself. Also managed to beat a turn 1 blood moon from Sneak and Show and a T1 Chalice from Lands (I played esper deathblade) so it was definitely an interesting day, especially with DRS being so good against most of the decks I faced.

Nice nice. How did you do? How did you feel about the deck in the meta? I wish I could've gone. If I had, then I would've been running the same deck.

Well, match 1 of the day was the first real game of legacy I've ever played, though I have watched a lot of matches so I knew what most decks did. I went 4-4 on the day before dropping, which is better than I though I'd do, though the 4 wins were on the backs of cards like deathrite and true-name which are still super strong
Does that even work? Treasure Cruise doesnt target.
Id that!
