What is wrong with SCG's coverage team? The first day should feature all fringe decks and interesting matchups. This is a chance to showcase Legacy on the main stage. Day one is the best chance to show a greater variety of decks. No one is playing Goblin Prison? Imperial Painter? Mono-Red Sneak Attack? Mindcrank? UB Mill? High Tide? Discard? Leylines? Veteran Walkers? You would think based on coverage that Legacy has less competitive decks than Standard does.
Rounds four, five, AND six...all had UR Delver on camera.
The second day will obviously have lots of Delver, Blade, Miracles, and so on. Why flood day one coverage with Delver decks? It's not like we won't see a dozen of top players tomorrow with X-1 records on Delver. They started doing this lately with their SCG Open coverage as well. Showing the same BUG or UR Delver decks literally three rounds in a row sometimes. Do people enjoy this style of coverage? Maybe I'm in the minority but I'd much rather see an interesting deck at X-2 than another UR Delver at X-0 on day one.
That's the way SCG is with all coverage including opens, they only cover the most hyped decks. At GP Richmond which was Modern they did the same thing, every round was either Pod or Twin.
Apparently, Maverick dominated the Friday grinder trials, and I doubt it represented that much of the field: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/deckshow.php?&t[C1]=3&start_date=08/24/2014&end_date=11/16/2014&event_ID=5&city=Edison&state=NJ&start_num=25&start_num=0&limit=25

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Yeah coverage was kinda meh, Tons of the same decks. Long breaks between rounds. I don't understand how a match ends in turns, then there is 20 mins before the next round starts? Also can we get some back up matches or replay of not CVM vs BBD.
Normally I like watching scg coverage, but this was pretty bad. I wanted to see rogue decks day one. We can watch all the delver day 2.

This was a 4000+ person event, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if there were a couple of players/decks able to Day 2 which also happened to take twenty minute turns. Either way, I think that it's entirely possible that there were still hundreds of people still playing even after the feature match ended.
Personally, I thought the coverage was fine. The commentators were more than competent and even interesting to listen to. Patrick Sullivan is a little wooden at times but obviously knowledgeable and Mathias was a good sidekick. The matches were pretty much what I expected.
You're not going to please everybody. Some people want to see fringe decks because they're tired of the top decks. Some want to see the top decks because they want to see how to actually play them so they can maybe pilot them better. Some want to see a top deck against a rogue deck (like me) so they can root for the rogue deck to win. Some just want to watch Magic and don't care what's playing. Some just want to see the top players. I mean really, how many people are going to be interested in watching John Doe's MUD versus John Smith's 12 Post?
In the end, this is a business and SCG has to put on the show that they "think" the majority of the people want to see.
I don't know if there are any ratings calculations done for these like for regular TV but if there are, I'd love to know how the ratings were as the day progressed. I watched about 6 of the 9 rounds because I had other things I had to do.
Ultimately, the only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the constant replays of the same things between rounds. Certainly they could have found better ways to fill the time.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give the coverage an 8.5.
Does anyone know how well Einjanzer (Phillip Kronenberger) is doing with Ponder Miracles?
If you mean Einherjer (Philipp Schonegger), he's 12-1 entering R14.

A few thoughts:
I watched almost all the SCG coverage and they had only 2-3 rounds that didn't have one player playing a delver strategy.
All day they were saying there was a ton of burn and delver running around the top tables, but only 2 delver strategies made it.
I was worried Treasure Cruise was going to take over the format. I'm sure it was everywhere, but it's nice to see a ton of diversity in the top 8
There was only 4 Delver strategies in the Top 16. I have no problem with that
Very disappointed I never saw a Misdirection on a Treasure Cruise
Landstill deck was the most surprising top 8 inclusion
I love watching legacy.
So many varieties of decks.
Really shows that playing the same deck for a long time rewards the player regardless of the meta.

I would be very very surprised if there is low variety among the best decks and that the best players are only on UR delver.
SCG likes covering the "best deck," to the point it seems more dominant that what it really is.

Reference that not everybody could play UR Delver even if they wanted to.
