GP New Jersey is this weekend! At 3700 registrations and counting, this has a chance of surpassing GP Vegas as the biggest TCG tournament of all time!
All eyes right now are on UR Delver, and other decks to beat like Miracles, Elves, Death and Taxes likely figure to play a huge role as well. Expect some other Delver and Blade strategies as well, including the Gold Digger strategy that Carsten Kotter advocated and which Rudy Briksza took to an SCG championship last week. Will there be a significant presence of combo seeking to exploit the increased presence of Treasure Cruise in the meta? It's impossible to predict in such a large tournament where conceivably 50-100 different decks might be jockeying for pole position in this field.

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
I think this GP in my home state may very well be one of the most important because of all the talk about TC. If we get a diverse field, if Delver doesn't dominate and if some other deck even wins the tournament, I think it will be healthy for Legacy now and in the near future.
My predictions?
Here's my top 16 for better or worse
1) Dredge
2) UR Delver
3) Elves
4) Death and Taxes
5) UR Delver
6) Reanimator
7) Sneak and Show
8) Elves
9) UR Delver
10) Lands
11) Death and Taxes
12) UR Delver
13) Dredge
14) Reanimator
15) Burn
16) Jund
You saw it here first. LOL
Seriously, I think it's going to be a very diverse top 16.
There's more combo here than anticipated. If grinders and last chance qualifiers signal anything, it's that dredge and enchantress type "lower tier combo" will be out in droves. This is my immediate observation through most of today

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.

The stream's already up, with Brian Braun-Duin and Chris VanMeter facing off with Legacy decks, talking the games through with a live audience there. BBD on Jetski UWR Stoneblade vs. VanMeter's Punishing Jund right now.

Anybody know what time they're starting today EST?
Updates: They are dealing with issues around drops (of 4,000+ players, this is a big deal).
As of 11:20am they are readying round 1. They basically made a round 0 to sift through hundreds of "sign ups and drop" situations. Features on camera and "in coverage" will start round 1. Features should be good to go. They have like 4 feature tables.

Considering the list of gimmick side events happening (Revised booster draft LOL), and considering how awesome the playmat is, this doesn't surprise me at all. If you're even remotely in the area, you can pick up your swag and just hang out for the rest of the day.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Magic is really pushing hard in to people who are only in it for the money and not to play. Has there always been this big of a problem with so many players dropping?

"It's like some kind of Voltron... made of elephants??"
HAHA, its not a problem if you yourself don't drop!
This is the first time I've heard about it in such mass #'s that its a problem though, I think it has more to do with people wanting the goods and not even having a legacy deck.
Phew! Another U-R Delver match. Thank goodness. I am so happy that this is at least the third U-R Delver matchup in a row. I was afraid SCG would having repetitive and boring content.
FWIW, Brad Nelson nailed what's wrong with UR Delver and Treasure Cruise. Listen to his explanation, if you can. It makes perfect sense and why I believe that TC will be fine when the smoke clears. We've already seen so far today that the card and the deck can be beaten.
Cuneo is on UW Control. With counterspells. And Fact or Fiction. However, I don't understand why he is running SFM as a win-con instead of True-Name Nemesis.
What is wrong with SCG's coverage team? The first day should feature all fringe decks and interesting matchups. This is a chance to showcase Legacy on the main stage. Day one is the best chance to show a greater variety of decks. No one is playing Goblin Prison? Imperial Painter? Mono-Red Sneak Attack? Mindcrank? UB Mill? High Tide? Discard? Leylines? Veteran Walkers? You would think based on coverage that Legacy has less competitive decks than Standard does.
Rounds four, five, AND six...all had UR Delver on camera.
The second day will obviously have lots of Delver, Blade, Miracles, and so on. Why flood day one coverage with Delver decks? It's not like we won't see a dozen of top players tomorrow with X-1 records on Delver. They started doing this lately with their SCG Open coverage as well. Showing the same BUG or UR Delver decks literally three rounds in a row sometimes. Do people enjoy this style of coverage? Maybe I'm in the minority but I'd much rather see an interesting deck at X-2 than another UR Delver at X-0 on day one.

They are going to big name players and those in contention, it doesn't make a lot of sense not to.

In particular, here is a survey of fifteen dealers on the floor this morning, explaining what they are selling out of the most: http://blog.mtgprice.com/2014/11/15/grand-prix-new-jersey-dealer-report/
Containment Priest is more than the cost of the entire deck! Forked Bolt has gone from 50c to $4 in a day!
There will be coverage over the entire weekend.

At least we got to see Cuneo with UW Control.

If there is a low variety among the best decks, that might indicate a problem with the format more-so than with the coverage.
