So as the title suggests I want to create a mill deck. Now before I get all this hate about how mill sucks are stuff like that, just know that that isn't the point of this thread. Mill seems a pretty fun way to play (albeit not so fun for your opponent). With that being said, could you guys give some cards that i can use to make a mill deck ( other than like mind funeral or traumatize)
Also what are some common strategies in order to stop aggro decks from overwhelming you before you can mill? This includes decks like delver and combo decks like elves.
The only mill deck played in legacy is painter servant grindstone. The only UB version of that is grixis. The way the deck doesent fold to aggro is bolt, pyroclasm, and red blasts against delvers.

"It's like some kind of Voltron... made of elephants??"
I think some fun ways of using mill in modern and standard are to employ mindcrank, altar of the brood or similar artifact strategies with retract, hurkyll's recall, etc to return your artifacts to hand. I would run, rather than say creatures, which is doable, more of a board control and permission suite (think boomerang, mana leak, remand, etc). You might try ensnaring bridges and 0 cost artifacts or mana accelerators. You're then soft to shattering spree and its ilk, buuuuut, you plan on dumping your hand like a combo deck and either sitting behind bridges or using retracts to mill out your opponent with more free casts and an altar of the brood/ mindcrank out. Run any of the combos with those cards to increase your overall effectiveness. Cantrips make this concept get to a critical point quickly, since you only have to power out 2 - 3 mana to get going. The cool thing about these cards is they dodge leylines, so the answers have to be removal of some form. I'm considering something of this nature myself.
You can do an infinite combo with Altar of the Brood + Heartless Summoning + Myr Retreiver.
That being said I threw a casual deck together with 4 glimpse the unthinkable into a grixis control shell. It is pretty fun but there are so many cards I want to run with it.

So two Opalescence and a Humility walk into a bar, I forget the rest of the joke but your sanctioned judge is a scrub.

Despite what people will tell you, mill is viable in legacy, although constricted to two decks. The key is to win in a single turn.
There's PainterStone which I've never seen as U/B so that's unlikely to be a good choice for you.
HighTide also mills an opponent in a single turn, going through various storm related time wasting, and finally comboing out with a brain freeze people often talk about splashing Red in that deck, but I'm sure there are some advantages to splashing black also.
Lands sometimes runs the Helm of Obedience + Rest in Peace package, but that's uncommon.
Unfortunately, those can be some of the more expensive decks, due to one using Portal cards, and the other using Candles.
I'm sure if you went to the developing section and built a shell for a UB storm deck with a Brain Freeze wincon, or a W/U/B control shell with RIP + Helm they'd help you refine it.
As for protection, PainterStone usually runs some sort of hate card package, with Red Blasts, and HightTide has started running, in addition to counterspells, a counterbalanceSensei's Divining Top package. Using black really helps you as hand disruption can slow down those aggro decks.
Mill in the sense in which standard and modern speak of it is rarely viable, but if one does it in the style of a storm deck, or in a control shell like lands, it works fine.
STATISTICS.
All of these "Let's eliminate bad cards" crusades are simply ignorant. And when they start to devolve into "WotC is conspiring to give us crappy cards," they just become embarrassing. MATH is conspiring to give you crappy cards.
I actually encountered a UB mill deck in a tournament once. I went undefeated in the swiss rounds with BUWG Delver (basically Deathblade with Delver) but this deck gave me my only game loss. The cards that really got me were Hedron Crab(with fetches, of course) and Archive Trap. I know he was playing Glimpse the Unthinkable and maybe even Breaking/Entering. The deck played Mind Funeral but not Traumatize. He also played Brainstorm, Ponder, Daze and Visions of Beyond. I believe it was a budget deck and did not have Force of Will or regular fetches (he was playing Terramorphic Expanse, Evolving Wilds and other sub-optimal fetches) but there is no reason such a deck couldn't play those and Wasteland for more disruption. I don't think he did well in the tournament overall but it isn't a completely non-viable deck, especially for a smaller tournament with more fair decks. Other top decks were Elves, Sneak and Show, Belcher, Reanimator and MUD, all terrible match-ups for this mill deck.
Tramd, I have worked on the deck you describe long enough to say that it is not ultimately viable. Your opponent must have gotten the nuts draw on you.
I would never recommend playing such a deck in a serious tournament. I was simply trying to give this guy what he was looking for: card suggestions for a UB, non-combo, mill deck.
