I've amassed a hefty Legacy collection over the years, and the prices are to a point where I'm comfortable selling what I'm not using, despite knowing that they may continue to rise the future. That said, I'm keeping the following decks:
1. Jund (my pet deck)
2. Death & Taxes (my wife's pet deck)
3. Stoneblade/Deathblade (because it's Jund, but with Brainstorm )
I'm looking to pick a 4th deck to keep in the rotation, likely something non-blue, as I won't be keeping any extra copies of Force of Will beyond my 4. Out of these options, what would you take:
I've already ruled out the following decks (they're all going up for sale/trade):
- Shardless BUG
- Delver of all varieties
- Sneak and Show
- Reanimator
- Miracles
- Goblins
- Merfolk
- Maverick
- Dredge
Thanks in advance for your input. I'm sure someone will say "You're going to regret selling them when the prices spike." You may be right, but at this point, it's just too much money to keep tied up in cards when in reality, I'm only going to play 1-2 decks competitively anyways.

Currently playing:
Standard: I, for one, welcome our new rhinoceros overlords
Modern: Pod's dead, Bob's back.
Legacy: Lands, Deathblade, Death and Taxes, Elves, MUD
Retired Legacy: Merfolk, Goblins, Jund, Delver, Reanimator
I would say Lands. If you own all of those decks then you surely know more about them then I do to convince you otherwise. I've never seen the enjoyment in Elves or Painter. When it comes to combo, I just prefer something a little more broken and bonkers.

One of these day I have to get myself organizized.
Personally I would just vouch for keeping play sets of cards and get rid of the rest. I like the ability to build anything and the niche cards will cause frustration if you decide to acquire them again later on.

Another vote for Painter from me. I think Painter is a deck that's going to continue to evolve, has pretty decent match ups overall, and can do a surprising amount without any counter spells.
Plus it's one of the few decks that can combo T1 with a god hand if you run Petal or Spirit Guide

It's really been down to Lands and Painter all along. I'm glad to see so many here in agreement. As for playsets, I'll be keeping 40 dual lands and niche sideboard cards (Cabal Therapy, Engineered Explosives, etc.), but there's a lot deck-specific pieces that haven't seen play in years (Show and Tell, Gaea's Cradle, etc), and it's the right time to clear some things out. Keeping 3-4 decks will give me plenty of variety, and keeping decks like Stoneblade and Jund gives me a lot of interchangeable pieces to work with as well. Realistically, it's going to be Jund that I take to a competitive event 95% of the time anyways.
For years, I've had the mindset of "I have to keep that...just in case." It's the collector/hoarder in me talking though, and it's part of the reason that I've ended up with so many cards. I'm ready to get back to just playing Magic and not worrying so much that I need to hang on to everything. 15 years ago, I never wanted to own cards for the sake of owning cards. It's time to get back to that.

I guess that is where I see it differently. I love the game and will play/build a deck on a whim. I don't see it as hoarding if I keep a playable collection, cards after those play sets become hoarding. I play all of my cards but I guess if you don't then you may as well get the most bang for your buck out of the cards you do keep.

Seems to me like a fine idea. In fact this is how I envision myself getting into Vintage one day, sell off most of my decks in Modern and Legacy keep one or two in each format and use the money to get power 9.

This is the mindset I have had lately. I always think "Well, what if the print, ban, or unban something and decks A and B aren't playable. I will need decks C, D, and E just in case!" Also, I just like looking at them, I guess.
Kudos to you for being able to trim the fat. In addition to the many (probably too many) Modern decks I have built, I really have a pretty nice collection of Legacy decks. Seeing as I play 1, I should probably sell a few. However, I can't bring myself to do it
Anyway, good luck!

It's funny, I've learned to have the exact mindset that you've moved away from. I bought into Reanimator when I first started playing Legacy in 2011, sold the key pieces (exception being the duals, fetches, FoW and Show and Tell) after being frustrated with the deck's consistency, bought back the pieces for Reanimator after Griselbrand was printed, and sold the same pieces away again after I got tired of the deck. I still don't have the pieces for Reanimator but I'm feeling the urge to play the deck again.
But I guess that's just the fickle player in me talking. I have the cards to build every deck in my signature but I've grown to really dislike a few of my inactive ones (Miracles, Canadian Threshold, Shardless BUG, TES). Nevertheless, I've resisted selling my playsets of Sensei's Divining Top, Stifle, Shardless Agent, and Chrome Mox because I never know if I'll want to build those decks again in the future. I know that happened with Reanimator.
But on topic, I'd go with Lands. It's one of the most unique decks in the history of the game and it's one of the decks that I think of when I talk about how varied Legacy is. Plus, that The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale isn't getting any cheaper.

I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
It's really been down to Lands and Painter all along.
Lands is a totally awesome deck and I can't in good faith not recommend it. That said Painter looks cool and is the one deck I don't have built which I wish I did. I really dig the main deck Blasts!
But I would like to suggest you keep the dredge deck. If you convert it into Manaless, there will be very little in the way of money tied up (I think Cabal Therapy is the most expensive card by far). This is a meta deck you would rarely play but would bring out once in a blue moon when conditions are just right. You'll barely notice the difference when you sell, but I think you'll be very glad for the extra tool in your arsenal. Just my two cents.
