So...I'm pretty bummed out. Waiting for a reprint of Force of Will that won't be more than $100. This has just got me so angry at this. How will this help us afford to play Legacy? Sure judges get the cool foil version, but can't the reprint this bloody card outside of the judge's promo symbol. I mean c'mon wizards...your breaking my balls...

To be fair, people have requested a judge promo for Force of Will many times.
I saw this awhile ago, then it disapeared on the net. I could not find ANY info about it! I started telling the people that I was wrong and there was no judge FOW...
It is a fine balance between reprinting older cards to make them affordable and keeping a collectible from bombing hard.
Judge promos are not there to make it easier to get them and to be honest I don't think force should be reprinted in an easy to get manner. Glad to see the rest of these though, Elesh looks great and Hannah as well. Foil commanders are always nice to see.

These are rarer than regular judge foils. They'll only probably go out to level 2 judges and above, which will make the FOW very hard to find. I'm betting you won't find one for under 400$ any time soon.

Exactly. Promos are not here to increase the supply of cards. They are in place to reward judges, which, in a way, is the intended opposite of flooding the market. Otherwise, judges would be rewarded with junk (even though this still happens a lot).
Legacy, Modern, and Standard are quickly becoming different luxury levels of Magic. If you can't afford the Banana Republic of magic, you can try the Gap of magic, or just have fun at the Old Navy of magic.

Read the article. They are giving you a perfectly reasonable way to afford Legacy. Become a judge, get a Force of Will promo, trade it for more than a playset of Alliances Forces.
To add to the above; it's still adding Forces to the marketplace. If someone collects Judge Foils they may well sell their old Forces; meaning there is a mild infusion of new cards available. The fact it's a Legacy/Vintage only card is a nice gesture by WotC. When released the format's player cap will have gone up by 25-50+ people; which is better than shrinking (and that's assuming only 100-200 of these are printed/given out; it could be more?)

It's not like this is new, either. There have been so many ridiculously awesome judge promos that it makes a ton of sense to do the work.

WTB an upgrade to a better store, Banana Republic always runs out of khakis. Bonus points if you get the reference.
Seriously though, in this analogy I expected Legacy to be a higher end store, and the first judge I know receiving one threw me a reasonable offer for his. I am aware that my reasonable, is and might still be cringeworthy to some on this thread.

The problem is that Standard isn't diverse, is generally dominated by a single deck, isn't shaken up until a new set is released, and is generally a waste of money.

Umm...actually it is. Legacy and Vintage are still huge formats for Wizards. Their game, their responsibility if they don't want to lose those formats.

it is not supported like the other formats. why modern masters? why more events for limited, sealed, and constructed? modern is now a FNM. Legacy will always have a high barrier to entry when there is a no-print list.
Promos are not released in order to make individual cards more affordable. They are released as rewards. You want force of will to drop to a reaonable price point? Release it in a core set. A fall set. A commander precon that is produced en masse. Judge promos are just how they compensate judges as they would rather give them cardboard that costs them a dollar to print instead of $250 in cash/what a judge can sell the contents of a judge packet for or something around that mark.

Who said I still wanted a promo? I just wanted a reprint to lower the price. I care not for the art, sure it's better, but I want to actually USE REAL COPIES. I just want FOW to be lowered. I'm just annoyed it was reprinted as a judge foil.

Vintage is no longer a "huge format". Even a casual format, Commander, is more played than Vintage.
1. I like my judges, and think that they deserve cool stuff for offering me enjoyable events week after week. Anything that encourages them to do that more is something I'm in favor of.
2. I also appreciate good-looking cardboard without caring how it affects the market. I'm sure some of my more blingy opponents will be fielding this Force against me.
"Thank you for playing Force of Will, so I don't have to." Now in a new extra-shiny, extra-expensive flavor!

If you want to use real copies, just buy or trade for the cards. Wizards isn't likely to reprint Force in a mass produced product.
