The field of 1586 players is a bit lower than I would have anticipated, but still quite a solid attendance figure.
The 24 GPT winning lists posted encompass quite a few different archetypes, including:
- Tin Fins
- Miracles
- ANT
- Merfolk
- 4-color Jundblade
- Team America (Tombstalker and TNN variants)
- Death and Taxes
- Belcher
- Reanimator
- Esper Blade
- Dredge
- Patriot
- Shardless BUG
- MUD
- RUG Delver

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
Far too much UWR Delver. I hope they diversify it a bit in future matches.
Nice to see the European metagame, though. Miracles and ANT have way more representation and Canadian Threshold less.

This coverage is painful to watch. The coverage team needs a lot of help they seem to know nothing about the format, or magic in general. Did you know Shardless Agent came from Commander's Arsenal?

I can believe that guy even attempted to play it out after a Jace ultimate with nothing in his hand and time running out.
Kind of a dick move, no?
Not all. Jace's -12 doesnt actually say "win the game".
He still had cards in his hand (even though they were lands) so he had a few turns still for his opponent to make the mistake of taking up time. If they had gone to turns the UWR player could have played for the draw.
Both players were playing VERY fast so slow play was not the issue. When slow play is not present, if the miracles player can't win in the allotted time it is his own fault and he deserves no less than a draw. I say this as an avid miracle player.

Meh, agree to disagree then. If you know you absolutely have no way to win barring your opponent screwing up, your opponent is 100% poised to win and you're running out of time, I think the respectable thing to do is to scoop personally.
If the difference in you making Day 2 and missing the cut is a tie versus a loss, your opinion may change. You are under no obligation to concede to your opponent. It's their job to win the game within the time limit. If they can't do that, then they earned their draw. I would never expect someone to concede to me, and no one should expect the same from me.
Keep in mind that what I'm suggesting is entirely distinct from intentionally playing slowly to force the draw, which is a completely disrespectful thing to do. Likewise, if the draw versus the loss makes no difference in your standings (meaning that you're getting cut either way), and your opponent has a chance to advance, then I can understand conceding at that point. Barring those situations, there's no reason you should ever feel obligated to penalize yourself.

Some luck for Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa the guy making top 8 had some infractions but not disqualified till after the Swiss rounds are over and standings are in.

Smells kind of scummy to me. Let the "dead man walking" play his last two rounds, people make decisions based in part on his presence in the standings, and then when your resident Hall of Famer misses the cut you "suddenly" decide this guy deserved a DQ after all. I'm sure that head judge has some incentive to feature a prominent pro in the elimination rounds and it makes sense that he might fix the standings a bit... Maybe this Spanish "no-name" is just a casualty.
Oh, I thought he was talking about playing a spell that is countering a spell with counters on it as it comes into play, but I see you guys were just discussing whether he was flashing a creature with flash in order to flash a flashback or just flashing a creature with flash but not needing flash in order to flashback a spell without flash.
"End of turn, I copy my Dark Depths with Thespian's Stage and create an indestructible 20/20 token?"
"Sure."
"Untap? Draw?"
"Sure."
"Attack you for 20?"
"Nah, you forgot to pay for The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale you got lying around there, so you actually need to sacrifice your indestructible 20/20."
I hope the guy didn't actually scoop with the 20/20 because Tabernacle was reverse errata'ed and Merit Lage would have given the people at the Tabernacle a big beating.

I would've predicted that Miracles would make a showing, given the TNN-heavy metagame, the fact that its popular in Europe, and the relative skill of the pilots. However, I definitely did not expect 3 copies of it in the top 8.
The relative lack of Combo is also surprising. Only 1, and it's iPainter.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.

Did this actually happen? If so that's a pretty obvious rules error and apparently it was witnessed by people at Wizards.
When the player goes to draw step, the upkeep is assumed not paid and the creature is sacrificed.
Are you referring to the The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale situation? It says destroy not sacrifice. Big difference as the Marit Lage token is indestructible.
Re: Tabernacle: Yeah, you are right. It looks like the card has been changed back to its original text at some point. But why should that lead to an irreversible game state? You simply ignore the upkeep.

Magus of the Tabernacle says sacrifice, The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale is a destroy effect. Marit Lage is indestructible. I'm guessing the rule confusion/mixup led to an irreversible game state.
Big Thanks to Xeno for sig art <3.
