here is how the top 8 is looking to pan out in terms of decks shown on stream (IMO)
4x esper deathblade
1x omni-show
1x RUG Delver
By the way, how many times have they shown Todd Anderson on screen today? It's ridiculous. Actually ridiculous. Like, WHY WOULD YOU SHOW THAT DECK THAT MANY TIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ALL HAD THE SAME PILOT?
Who seriously wants to watch Esper Deathblade every round? It's just goodcards.dec and, yes, I will go as far to say it takes literally no skill to play to a winning record (hell, even a top 8). This inherent bias in showing team SCG members is really annoying. Save the advertising for the invitationals gentlemen, we're here to see a wide variety of decks, not 7 copies of esper deathblade (especially when 6 of those times were the same pilot).
At this point, I would like to point out a few things, most notably the figures of the top 25 or so players, and what decks they were playing. please notice #'s 23 and 24 were skipped, but #25 is esper deathblade. Coincidence? I think not.
Esper Deathblade: 4
Delver Variants: 5
Dredge Variants: 1
Show and Tell: 2
Death and Taxes: 2
Elves: 1
Lands/Loam Variants: 2
Non-deathblade stoneblade variants: 2
Metalworker: 1
other forms of control (shadrless BUG, Esper (not stoneblade), BUG Walkers): 3
So, let's break down what could have been shown. As the top tables had a lot more decks than deathblade variants:
Everything. But, nope. Matches shown had Todd Anderson, playing Deathblade. Some other guy playing deathblade. Some guy playing shardless BUG (which I am also tired of seeing)
So, what does this tell me about the broadcasting of SCG? It's biased towards people who play deathblade, and they are pushing deathblade for economic reasons (selling jaces, duals, deathrites, etc is much better than trying to sell 4x karakas, or candelabras, or life from the loam, etc.)
This is the thing in the SCG streams that angers me: Lack of variety of decks in order to push certain archetypes that make them money. I for one, do not enjoy seeing esper deathblade EVERY. SINGLE. ROUND. It makes me not want to go to SCG's website, as sundays are the days I traffic their website. I want to see interesting decks, like RUG Delver, Dredge, Storm (while most people consider these decks boring to watch, I consider Deathblade and Shardless BUG much more boring. much much much much more boring).
Tl;DR I'm tired of no variety of decks shown on the SCG stream, and the streaming is inherently biased (feels like a circle jerk), and cannot be explained by Esper Deathblade's presence in the top tables, as it is (atleast shown here) a small part of a fairly varied metagame in the top tables.

Well first of all in the top 8 there is only 2 deathblade decks and the other two are actually a lands deck and this interesting bug loam deck (which is being shown now and is actually very interesting looking). That being said I completely agree with you. Whoever was choosing the matches for today's coverage was just driving me mad. I'm really getting sick of watching Todd Anderson and his deathblade deck. At this point I just hope he looses because I've seen so much of his deck today. I really don't know what happened today. In the past I have praised SCG for stream for actually showing the odd decks in the format if they are doing well tournament but today it was basically all just all deathblade all day.
Yeah, can't say I'm liking this Sunday's broadcast. I'm personally not a fan of Esper Deathblade as a deck (complete distortion of my precious Esper Stoneblade!) but even with personal biases aside, I wish they didn't choose to feature it every friggin round. At least show other decks in the feature match section to broadcast. Legacy is an incredibly diverse format and their broadcast is really making it seem like it isn't.

Looks like Todd won so that's gonna help boost the sales of Esper Deathblade pieces. Especially since every time they showed the deck, Cedric and Rick could rave about how its the best deck in the format.

and seriously, his opponents didn't seem like they were trying. It was really depressing. I know if I see him at my SCG open, I am going to beat him as quickly as possible, and then write in sharpie on a piece of paper "Deathblade sux"

Because it has nothing to do with his skill or the fact the deck is quite intricate. But random angry forum person is definitely taking him down quickly right?
As for the stream, Deathblade shows a little of everything and Todd's popular, why wouldn't it be all over the stream?

Because watching it every round gets incredibly tedious and boring. As someone who really doesn't care about one particular player and would rather see all the interesting decks that are doing well to look at what's going on in the format seeing one pilot play deathblack over and over doesn't interest me in the slightest.
People in here saying Todd isn't good or deathblade isn't good are obviously mad about something because both statements are obviously false.
However, I was also disappointed in watching him so many times. Could we have just seen the lands deck, and still watched the other two matches. If I wanted to watch the same deck over and over I would watch Standard.
SCG is usually great and the streams are almost always diverse. I am hoping this was an aberration.
Feel better now after that venting? I do agree with you though.
Watch the crap out of how deathblade works. Pay attention to how it plays, what its' bombs are and how to beat it. Then play in an open and beat the ever living hell out of it. Maybe enough people will learn to beat it rather than play it and that will solve the issue of deathblade. With a good pilot it will most always top 8 if people keep catching on. However if people start to play favored matches against it, the deck will fall from grace and we can start a new cycle in magic. It is not much different than when rug delver first started going top 8 in most every open for a long while. It just takes that eventual shift in the format when decks that beat a particular deck start to pop up and hence the legacy meta game shifts. It always happens in cycles, we are sadly in the deathblade cycle and it looks like more people are jumping on the bandwagon rather than setting it aflame.
I was just talking about how they pretty much only featured Todd, Gerry and Brad all day both days on the ride home. I was 5-0 with Zoo but lost to the RUG Delver then the BUG Control deck that made top 8 back to back.

This SCG stream was extremely biased. Probably more than words can describe.
They just wouldn't stop raving about their players and basically have nothing to say about the opposing team. They do it to a point where they repeat themselves, constantly reminding the audience how good Todd Anderson is and how much experience he got with whatever.
They completely ignore the audience. SCG may care about their players but im sure that 99% of the audience has no connection with Todd Anderson at all. They fail to understand that there are people who wants player A to win as well as people who wants player B to win.

They show interesting decks at the beginning of the day (Gerry's Niv-Magus Deck, and Dredge were shown) and the top tables through out the rest. If your tired of seeing Todd with Deathblade, go and beat him.
It would be one thing if they were showing a .500 player just because they like him, but he won. And he won two weeks ago. They are going to show someone who is playing a tier 1 deck to consistent high finishes.
Their were 4 "Blade" decks in the top 16 and 4 Delver decks in the top 16, plus more of each just outside of it. If they are showing the top tables, the odds that one of those decks are in the match are pretty good.
I agree that watching stoneblade + BUG decks is excessively annoying but damn that dredge vs Tezz match earlier was pretty intense and fun to watch, especially seeing a dredge player actually win a match on camera.
Also I just remembered something weird that I thought of during today's stream, but I can't recall them ever showing any of the X-0 matches during the day. It seemed like every match had X-1 players which usually we don't get to see those matches until the end because the X-0 players are just drawing into the top 8.
I'm really sick of Blade, RUG and BUG decks. And Show and X decks. And ANT. I'm actually just tired of seeing so many repeat decks and players. Give me other decks like Dredge,The Rock, Nic Fit, Eldrazi, UB Tezz, Enchantress, Dead Guy Ale, Death & Tax, Goblins, Belcher, and if anyone out there but myself are piloting it, The Walking Dead. I'm tired of these counter wars and Jace plays. Give me some nitty gritty matches that don't focus on blue.
*Yes I know UB has counters and Jace, but it's a new, interesting, and intricate deck.
