And thanks to being able to sell off my EDH stuff, I have $500 to put towards more Legacy-relevant cards.
My original plan was to build Pox. I like the deck, understand it relatively well, and feel that I could pilot it to some success. The only problem with building Pox is that most of the cards required aren't useful in any other decks (i.e. Nether Void).
Are there any decks that are more-or-less strictly "better" than Pox that I could build with what I have + $500? Junk is a thing, but I don't think I could afford the 'Goyfs, duals, and fetches. Same goes for Jund. I'd prefer to acquire staples that I could use in a variety of decks than pigeonhole myself into Pox, but I'm thinking that maybe that's the best I can do with what I've got.
That base looks like pox already. Deadguy ale I think would be the best route for you. It will open up some staples for you and can lead into esper. Once you hit esper you should have a good chunk of staples.

Yeah, it's a good bit of the way to a complete Pox deck. I did some trading for what staples I could before selling the rest of my EDH stuff off. I'll look into Deadguy Ale, and by extension B/W Stoneblade. Thanks!
im brand new to legacy and looking for a deck to get into, im not going to be actually buying the cards for budget reasons, just playing on cockatrice to expand my knowledge of magic and kill time, so budget is no issue whatsoever
so what im looking for:
1.something controlish that could hopefully not lose t1 to a combo deck
2.not a huge skill cap since im new (but this isnt a huge deal since ill learn)
3.something that tends to play out differently each game rather than going for the exact same combos over and over
4. hopefully something with a well done primer or discussion so i can learn the deck a bit
5 Color Cromat with tons of tutoring that doesn't reveal the card. Play a few classic playing cards, a couple Uno Draw 4s (Ancestral Recall eat your heart out), some basic Pokemon for defense, a Get Out of Jail Free card, and have assembling all five pieces of Exodia be your win condition. People will flip because EXODIA!? IMPOSSIBLE! NOBODY'S EVER BEEN ABLE TO SUMMON HIM!
It sounds like you want a blue based control or tempo deck. In no particular order,I would look into BUG Control, BUG Midrange, Rug Tempo, Merfolk, UW Miracles, and Esper Stoneblade.

Legacy Decks UBG Reanimator RUB Delver R Burn UR Delver UBW Tin Fins UBGR ANT
I've been looking to get out of Standard and into Legacy. Over the past few months, I have been building and testing decks out online and I haven't really gotten any where. Currently, I've been playing Oops! All Spells! but I wish to move on to an Aggro deck or a Non-Blue Tempo/Control deck. Finance is a bit of and issue and (Although my name States it) I really don't wish to play just RDW. Nothing against the deck and all, but I've always played Red for my entire Competitive Career and wish to move on to something else.
Tier decks that are around 500-600 dollars are:
Belcher - Though it's kind of like the All spells deck, an all in, glass cannon deck that while very powerful, is also very narrow, & can have issues against more & more opposing disruption
Dredge - It keeps performing in spite of the hate, the deck will always be around, though most versions run Lion's Eye Diamonds, there's even manaless dredge, though we weaker versions of the 2 dredge decks, manaless dredge is even cheaper to run, you could probably make it for like 100 bucks.
Goblins - The money cards are Cavern of Souls, Wasteland, Rishadan Port & Aether Vial, the goblins themselves, Piledriver is the most expensive at about 20 bucks per, it only gets cheaper from there.
Liliana pox - A mono black control deck that kills slowly with Nether Spirit / Cursed scroll & Mishra's Factory, while it's disruption is hardcore fast from Inquisition of Kozilek / Hymn to tourach, Sinkhole, Innocent blood, Smallpox and sometimes even a copy or 2 of Pox itself, though Liliana has largely taken the place of the namesake card itself.
Burn - Though if you've expressed not wanting to push burn for now, you must already know what it does.
Elves - Combo Elves, mono green, even with some Gaea's Cradles, which are pushing 100.00 per now, you could still run 1 with some crop rotations and the rest of the deck would be cheap enough, other than Glimpse of nature & Natural Order.
These are all decks that have performed with some level of success in the past year!
I want something competitive, cheap, that runs kiln-fiend. I want to make a secondary deck to lend to friends to get them into the format. If there is a burn list that was succesful with a few kiln-fiends main, I'd love it.
So, it either has kiln fiend, is cheap, or boyh

So I have $400 dollars saved up to put into a new legacy deck and I am having a tough time decided what to do. I have RUG built and looking for my second deck or decks. I have a few staples including 21 duel lands all zen fetches and Polluted Deltas. I am looking to build ether Jund (Old Fetch lands and Grove of the Burn Willows ~ $350), Sneak and Show (Show, Sneak, Emrakul double mana lands and a few things ~$700), Esper Stone blade (Strands, Jace, Karakus and a few odds and ends ~$800). If I went with the Sneak and Show option for about $100 bucks more I would have Reanimator.
If It where you what would u buy?

@mono elemental combo that was played in modern sounds like what you are after. It could probably be modified so it is a little less all in or all in but with some better options.
@mr.anderson: duel = fight, dual = two but seriously it depends what you want to do. Show is easy to play and proven. Reanimator is strong but can require some important decisions. Esper and jund seem better if you minimally want to grow your collection. Of those I would probably lean towards Jund for playability. You gain access to a lot of useable cards.

I'm looking to seriously determine which legacy deck I want to buy into. I'm someone who typically likes to play midrange, control, or tempo. The deck would mostly be for playing at my school's magic club legacy tournaments and a store that supports legacy tournaments, though I'd still like to be able to take it to a big tournament like a SCG Open if there ever is one nearby.
My magic club meta, in terms of legacy, consists of Maverick, Zombardment, Belcher, Dredge, Reanimator, Burn, and a BW Tokens brew. Decks I've been considering: Jund, Esper Stoneblade, RUG Delver, UW(x) Miracles, and Shardless BUG. For a little I was leaning towards Jund or RUG since I have a good amount of the pieces for them from playing them in modern, but it seems like they are soft to some of the decks in my meta so now I'm leaning towards Esper Stoneblade or UW(x) Miracles. Could someone please help me out? Also, should note that money is not a big issue since I'm willing to save up money and/or trade for whatever deck I intend to build.
I'm in the market for an aggro deck. I can't decide between Zoo and Goblins. I already have the some of the land base for both the decks, and the only real draw back to either is Tarmogoyf's price. Which deck do you think is right?

Currently Playing:
Standard: Mono Red Blitz
Modern: Hatebears and Dredgevine
Legacy: UG Madness and The Mighty Quinn
The big hitters for Zoo: Knight of the Reliquary, Maze of Ith (maybe 2, they can save you games and are easily had with Knight), Savannah, Plateau, Taiga and the associated fetchs, and Tarmo of course. Also if you want a Stoneforge/Jitte/B-Skull/Sword package that'll cost ya. I don't play Zoo so I'm probably missing something.
Because of the mandatory dual/fetch package that you'll need to run for Zoo it is much more expensive. Also Zoo's performance has slipped in recent years, Goblins is always a threat to win a tournament.
The other pricey card you're missing for Goblins is Cavern of Souls. The big cost cards are the Ports and Wastelands; the rest of the deck can be purchased for under $200 if you buy them online.
Well I'm coming off of standard, but it's a UB controlggro deck. So control/Aggro is probably a good idea.
I have had lots of experience playing UB Affinity in my local area. The deck is essentially a hyperaggro deck with Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas added as a slight combo feel to it. I believe the whole deck can currently be aquired for around $200. It adds a new element to the metagame in the areas I've played. If it doesn't seem like your style of deck it is at least worth a try in my eyes. I've beaten UW Stoneblade, Maverick, Dredge, BG Control, UB Combo, and Lands with it in case competition level of a deck is something you are looking at when acquiring your Legacy deck.
Another deck I suggest is RUG Tempo/Delver if you are looking to put alot of money into a Legacy deck. Its pretty much a polar opposite financially of Affinity and has a completely different play style, but it is definitely a competitive deck.

I suggest Affinity as an aggro deck. It can be one of the fastest Legacy decks depending on your brew of Affinity. Mine can win on turn 3 and averages wins by turn 5. After turn 7 though my Affinity brew dies down unless I drop a Tezzeret. Whenever I drop Tezzeret I give my opponent their turn to come up with a solution before Tezzy's Big Bang gets me the win. Affinity can beat several of the top tier Legacy decks and can through a huge wrench in the metagame. The impact on the metagame inflicted by Affinity's impact on the metagame I think is only topped by the impact Dredge has on the metagame. That is my personal opinion anyways.
I can have about $312 store credit after dumping my standard stuff. The decision I'm trying to make is whether to build something cheap (burn) or just invest in a playset of a staple (FoW's, Wastelands) and slowly build from there. Any thoughts? A deck I'd ultimately like to play would be omni-tell, ANT tendrils, or some version of stoneblade. Any help is appreciated!

If that's your "casual," what on earth is required for "formal," a butler in livery shuffling the decks whilst a pianist plays Brahms in front of a tapestry?

If cost is an issue, burn is the way to go. It's dirt cheap and can be quite effective. If burn doesn't really do it for you, ANT isn't too expensive, relatively speaking, but the duals and the LEDs are going to set you back about $800 to $1,000. The other decks (Omni-Tell, Stoneblade) aren't any better.
If you want a dirt cheap deck besides burn, play Pox. The budget version is really cheap and very effective. Plus, the Wastelands will come in handy for that deck. I don't think the deck costs more than $300 to $500, if that.
Another stepping stone option if you decide to head towards a more expensive Storm deck eventually is Dredge. That way you start with the LEDs, and can build towards ANT/whatever from there while having a competitive deck in the meantime.
Standard: UWR
Modern: RDW, Twin
Legacy: I am 3 Candelabra of Tawnos from being able to build almost any tier 1 or 1.5 deck. Here are the ones I care about right now:
-Aggro: UWR/RUB/WUB/RUG/UR Delver; Affinity; Burn
-Control: Stoneblade; UWr Miracles; UB Tezzeret
-Combo: Hive Mind; Combo Elves; Omni Tell; T.E.S.
Vintage: Grixis Painter
EDH: Rith, the Awakener
2 Inquisition of Kozilek
4 Liliana of the Veil
4 Sinkhole
1 Marsh Flats
3 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
2 Verdant Catacombs
4 Wasteland
And thanks to being able to sell off my EDH stuff, I have $500 to put towards more Legacy-relevant cards.
