A lot of players on the Pox thread play mono b, not BG loam Pox. W splash pox is rare- a list surfaced recently with it in, the first in ages. Green is the regulation splash, but plenty of lists are just B. A lot of smallish/mediumish events in Europe will always have the mono-b Pox player somewhere.
Mono B prison pox is possible in black, although you need to address the lack of card selection when you go to topdecks- Tops and Fetches being the only real selection option. You need a reason to be mono B- thus avoiding using Decay and Loam, which are unique effects unavailable in regular B (Deed at least being replicated by Disk if you want). The only real reason to be mono-B is the emphasis on landkill and reduced vulnerability to opposition mana disruption. You would be better in GB if Miracles is in your meta in large numbers (and I say that as owner of a mono-B list). Its not exactly likely to be a cheap deck given the likely inclusion in the board of The Abyss, Nether Void, Lilly and even the odd Tabernacle in some builds, though the last is not compulsory.
Outside of Prison Pox a few mono aggro B discard lists surface from time to time using Racks and some Bloodghast type cards. There is a thread in Developing for such decks.
As for the Gate, you have to ask why not play Deadguy?

Hmmm. I was going to suggest to just play a better elves deck in legacy so you can become aware of the format. I would suggest parfait as well, but its strength truly shows when you are familiar with the format. Honestly miracles is probably the best place to start as a combo/control deck for you. It will give you the ability to interact and change your board as needed to suit your meta. Plus it has some inherit flexibility on card choices.

Hey, I really want to get into legacy, but I'm on a budget. I own grixis delver in modern (no ancestrals in sb though), and also modern ad nauseam. I really want to try grixis delver in legacy. Can I make it work with no duals and no fow?

I've been playing storm, elves and ad nauseam in modern for a while and I've fallen in love with combo decks, so I was wondering which legacy combo deck would be better for someone who has never played a sinle legacy game. I like it when I can change my sideboard and put some interaction or change the combo to play around hate cards. I've watched some legacy videos and storm, aluren and Elves stand out as my favourites, but I don't know how hard the graveyard hate is in legacy, I'm really tired of losing games in modern due to my reliance in my graveyard and would like ways to play around it if possible. I'm not a huge fan of the elves alternate wincon being beatdown, but I do like Leovold a lot.
Edit: Forgot to mention high tide, I've heard from various people that it's an underpowered deck, but the control-combo shell seems quite appealing to me.
Both Elves and Aluren very often fall back a lot on the beatdown, but it's very much an anemic beatdown plan (especially for Aluren). Aluren is pretty comparable to Splinter Twin (pre-banning) and Kiki-Chord from modern.
I love Aluren and will always recommend it (especially given a stated preference of not wanting to be just dead to a single line of hate), but it does capitalize on format knowledge more than a deck like Elves (maindeck Cabal Therapy that you need to cast blind really pressures you to have solid format knowledge). Aluren also has the issue that it requires greater start-up investment than almost any other deck in the format (take a look at this post for my advised list).
Elves does a good job of letting your mastery of your own deck assist you as you learn the format while not having an absurd learning curve. The downside is that all the expensive pieces don't really get used in other decks.
Storm is the most pure combo deck on that list. It's deceptively resilient and versatile, but it takes quite a bit to get to that point (watch storm masters play through absurd amounts of hate or watch them walk opponents into helping them hit lethal storm -- this skillset comes with a lot of practice.)
Depending on your precise expectations and requirements on getting into the format, I think each of the above three are good choices in legacy. If you'll be playing your selection for awhile, I'd probably do Storm or Aluren. I strongly advise against High Tide though. I actually have the deck built (including candels), and it is quite the faded glory. D&T's new tools and the proliferation of Cavern of Souls have been bad news for a deck that was already fighting an uphill battle. I think it's a fun deck to mess around with, but I can't advise anyone buying into the deck if they don't already have the pieces.

When Feline says High Tide is dead, then high Tide is dead.
(It's dead)
Storm decks right now are also more precariously positioned thanks to the rise in D&T. ANT struggles more against D&T than TES does, but TES struggles more against Miracles than ANT does. If you choose storm, choose the right one for your meta. Both decks can still power through their nemesis, but if you're facing down a field of D&T I'd rather be playing TES.
Elves beats the crap out of D&T, but is soft to Storm FYI. All of these decks are great fun however, and reward the pilot for sticking with them.

I've been playing Magic for nearly 20 years, so I like to think I can pilot just about any deck out there. I've been out of legacy for over 5 years and want to buy back in. I will play anything, but I'm not going to spend over $1000 for a deck. What's the best deck that stays under that cap without making concessions to the 75?
I think UW Miracles with Back to Basics is probably the best option. It only needs KTK fetches and 2 tundra in terms of lands. This is an example of what it might look like. Trimming one force to go down to three and a multiple of other options exist in how to sculpt your own list. I would also add that I consider the listed prices to be significantly higher than the reality that is experienced when assembling a deck like this. In practice, I would expect this deck to be able to come in just about at your price limit. I'm linking out to provide pricing context in conjunction with the list: https://deckstats.net/decks/52771/645340-example-back-to-basics-miracle

I play Lantern Prison in Modern and am looking for a similar prison deck to play in Legacy. I understand the deck doesn't port well to Legacy due to the number of Brainstorms and Ponders running around. Cost is irrelevant since i'll just be doing Cockatrice testing anyway. Are there any viable prison strategies available (preferrably something with Ensnaring Bridge)?

You can look into a stax variant. There was a colorless one that top 8'd an SCG classic a couple months ago. I really like the look of the black variants running Braids, Cabal Minion and Ophiomancer as well but that probably comes down more to personal preference. Stax is similar to lantern in that they both have a very grindy gameplan aimed at locking their opponent out.
If you want a change of pace, stompy variants win much faster while still utilizing prison pieces. Eldrazi is the undisputed king of that archetype at the moment, but red variants still show up on a pretty regular basis. White versions taking advantage of Thalia, Heretic Cathar and Palace Jailer are being talked about as well.

I'm looking to get back into Legacy. Been away for a couple years but still have my collection, though I don't think I have any complete decks. I'm looking for something somewhat competitive, but at the same time not going to cost me over 500$ to complete.
I have 3 scrublands and a Savannah as well as quite a few black and white cards, including a set of Lillian's, 3 Dark confidants, a set of stone forge, and various other cards. Preferably the deck is something control-ish.
Topic of Original Thread: [ What Legacy deck does not loose to Burn, Dredge, and Oops all Spells? ]
Topic ^^^
My local meta currently looks like 35% burn, 35% Oops all spells, and 25% dredge. The rest being everything else. What deck just takes care of the three decks? Same to assume anything with Force of Will and discard spells. Then sideboard out discard against Dredge?
I'm looking for established decks, not a specialized brew. I do want to play something that would be relevant at a larger meta.
I wouldn't recommend D&T -- you need to lean super hard on SB options to beat Oops All Spells with D&T. It's just not a good option for beating that kind of all-in deck imo.
I think I would recommend Tezzerator. I've seen Tez lists with maindeck Leyline of the Void (to pair with Helm of Obedience). I don't know enough about its burn match-up, but I presume that Chalice of the Void and the Thopter-Sword combo at the very least allow it to make a game of the match-up. Bonus points for having a great Miracles match-up if you go to events outside your meta.

I think a Deathblade deck is where you want to be in this meta. You've got Forces, discards, and DRS against those combo decks: plus DRS lifegain can supplement Stoneforge Mystical Batterskull action.
After sideboard it only gets a lot better, your options in Esper blow their countermeasures out of the water: not that you'll need much of anything else, just some more GY hate vs. Dredge/Oops.
Yes, the best route is to go 4c loam if you have the other cards - wait for MM3, chalices and groves might get reprinted, the cheaper variants are deadguy ale and maverick.
Thank you very much for the suggestions, I stared putting together the pieces for Deadguy, and I am slowly gonna more to Maverick then Loam hopefully someday.
Hey! I'm curious about Legacy and would like to find a deck that will interest me. I have so many questions about the meta! However, I'll try not to ask them here I'm looking for something that fits with my play style rather than what pieces I own, I don't mind buying into the format a little (but overlap with what I have would be nice!). I play Command a fair amount but I have mostly been playing Modern for quite some time now and the competitive decks that I've played (and still have some pieces of) are the following:
Could anyone please direct me towards a deck that has a blend of creatures and spells in a tempo/aggro-control fashion? I definitely like swinging in and I also like countering things. Something non-linear would be nice, combo is an option if it is perhaps akin to what Twin used to be like when it wasn't banned in modern (is that deck even played in this format?). I also really like fair decks but I have no idea what kind of viability strategies have here, any help would be great!
I played Standard and Modern for a while and always preferred more control focused decks. So far i was most interested in control, tempo and combo decks. After watching a few Legacy videos on Youtube i got really interested in the format.
Blue is pretty much a must. Brainstorm, Ponder and FoW should be included and i want to play sth with a high skillcap, as it will probably be me my only Legacy deck. Price is not an issue cause i'm only playing on mtgo and duals are affordable.
It doesn't matter if the deck is difficult to play or requires knowledge of the format, as i'm willing to suffer through it. I already have Snapcaster, Ancestral Vision and a lot of blue, black and white modern stuff.
I would flavor wise prob tend to sth like bug, but even there are so many possibilities
Hey, guys. I'm looking to get into Legacy. I've recently picked up a Volcanic Island, so something UR would be nice, but I'm having some trouble picking a deck.
I've always enjoyed watching Miracles being played, especially Joe Lossett's decklist, but I also like the look of Sneak&Show and ANT.
I'm going to be moving in a few months, so I'd be going into an unknown meta; it's my understanding that Miracles sides are usually pretty heavily meta'd, so that might make it harder to build.
Any suggestions? I at least understand most of the Legacy metagame, and other than disliking straight aggro (burn, dredge), I've explored pretty much every Modern deck, so I have a lot of archetype experience.
Right now, I'm thinking one of the following:
Miracles
ANT
Sneak & Show
Grixis Delver
RUG Delver
But I'm thinking I would enjoy one of the first three more than a Delver variant.
