My commander group is very casual and enjoys mixing games up with different meta game variants. I've seen a commander variant (often called "Kingdoms") based on the card game Bang!. We gave it a shot, but found that it suffered from many of the same problems as the original card game without adding all that much in the way of strategy. However, in recent years the creators of have released a spiritual successor called Samurai Sword. The main difference between the two is that Samurai Sword has no player elimination: instead players attack each other to earn points. The game ends when the first player dies, and the team with the most points wins.
We played a few games with this variant and found it to be a ton of fun! It encouraged lots of interaction both in-game and socially while also keeping games short. I will write up our full rules when I get the chance, but I was wondering if anyone else had tried something similar?

"In the beginning, MTG Salvation switched to a new forum format.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
