Maga, Traitor to Mortals is technically legal in Tiny Leaders. But he is a traitor to the spirit of the format, in that he will never be cast with a CMC of three or less.
Why are we pursuing this traitorous route? Because for some odd reason, black is second only to green in mana ramp capability. This is mostly due to Cabal Coffers.
The theme of this deck is to play lots of zombies and recur them many times. Meanwhile, we make a LOT of black mana and use our walking fireball general to burn our opponent out of the game.
There are a variety of mini-combos going on in the decklist. I am particularly interested in thoughts people might have about synergy with the recursion themes or with the mana ramp. There are a lot of great cheap black cards out there, so limiting myself to 30 was hard.
Cards that I am uncertain about: Strata Scythe makes any one creature enormous. But something like Sword of Light and Shadow or Sword of Vengeance may be superior for protection, trample, and making tiny guys more threatening. Basilisk Collar might also be good for letting my little guys trade up in combat.
Dark Ritual has been great in my limited testing, but you give up a card to gain it's tempo.
Unearth has a lot of great uses, and can cycle when not needed. However Reanimate can hit anyone's graveyard, albeit with life loss. Is this extra functionality worth the pain and lack of cycling?
Could be good! I'm a little concerned about having too many colorless lands, however. Currently I've got 4 that can't give me colored mana for a number of turns, and another which comes into play tapped. I'd have to take a turn off to play Myriad.
But it does put me ahead once I use it. Definitely worth considering, thanks for the idea.
