Warning: the following contains spoilers for the end of Godsend.
So at the end of Godsend, Elspeth and Ajani kill Xenagos and, wounded and exhausted, are heading back to Theros. Before they can leave Nyx, Heliod shows up and, well, this happens.
I wanted to make a Horde deck that reflected this. Basically what I was thinking was that this would be sort of a bonus boss for the Defeat a God challenge deck. Once Xenagos is killed, players keep the same board state to face Heliod.
Right now, this is just a rough concept (and probably not a very good one at that, this is my first time attempting a horde deck).
I thought I'd start with Heliod on the field along with his spear and 2 Cleric tokens. In addition to being indestructible, Heliod can't leave the battlefield as long as he controls another creature, just like Xenagos. Players win when he dies. On each of the horde's turns, they draw 2 cards and play them then each creature that can attack does so. I'm debating with myself about letting them activate Heliod and the spear's ability one time each turn for free.
Like I said, this is my first time trying one of these, so any questions, comments or suggestions are appreciated.
looks cool, but if heliod needs to be killed to win, and hes indestructible, doesn't that make him unnecessarily difficult to kill? as in you'd need a tuck/exile to get rid of it. mono-red would be stuck to just chaos warp (as far as i can think of).
maybe the deck should have an emblem that says "when you control exactly one creature named heliod, heliod loses indestructible" or something.
