Right, so. You ever have an idea for a deck that sticks in your head and no matter how stupid, you have to build it? This is mine. The basic goal: as many alternate wincons in the same deck as possible, with all of them being a possible route to victory. Currently I'm failing at that, there's only 19 creatures so Mortal Combat can never win. I must have cut something by accident. I haven't updated it in a little while which is why Liliana's Contract and Simic Ascendancy aren't in there, I'm planning to cut a couple of the coinflip cards to add them along with Arcane Adaptation so the Contract can win. I'll have to find another couple of creatures to run. I'll probably find room for Jace, Wielder of Mysteries since he can win without support, unlike Laboratory Maniac. Of course, any card is carefully scrutinised to see if it helps multiple wincons - this pile of utter jank needs all the help it can get. I'm just thankful they haven't done an 'if you control X Planeswalkers' one yet.
I picked Ramos as the commander because he actually synergises with several of the wincons and isn't a Sliver. I considered Reaper King but the extra mana generation and Mayael's Aria synergy tipped me over to Ramos. Also he's a dragon.
My best win so far was ulting Ral Zarek for three extra turns then winning with Maze's End on the final extra turn. I've also pulled off Revel in Riches, Biovisionary and Mechanized Production at various points.
I also had this idea for an deck. How extreme do you want to go? Do you really want to play all of them or are you willing to cut some for a better deck? Mortal Combat and Chance Encounter seem really hard and require a lot of slots you can do other things with.
I think the trick with this deck is to play cards that don't do nothing if you don't have the right alternate wincon on board. So cutting Mycosynth Lattice and Ethereal Champion for instance.
Not playing Rite of Replication with Biovisionary also seems strange.
Chance Encounter is actually fairly easy if I can get the Frenetic Efreet to stick, since that gives me infinite coinflips. There's a reason I'm using the coinflip cards as the first buffer zone for cuts. Cutting Mortal Combat is probably sensible, would mean I could cut a few of the naffer creatures and get a few more tutors in the deck, such as Diabolic Revelation and Increasing Ambition. I'd also like to add Evolution Sage as it seems like a bit of a no-brainer.
Something that feels like a no-brainer but might not be is Doubling Season. I've got a spare and genuinely can't see any downsides to running it in this, but can't shake the feeling there's something I'm missing. Anyone got any thoughts?
