So there were a couple of take aways from the games tonight. First of all, this should come as no surprise but the deck ramps very fast and can get a ton of landfall triggers. Tireless Tracker put in a lot of work tonight. This is also why I decided to throw Zendikar's Roil back in. I like Roil over Rampaging Baloths (which I cut) because it is harder to get rid of, being an enchantment. Also, card draw is very important here since we need cards to discard for Jolrael's ability. Thankfully, I think the list is in a pretty good place as far as card draw goes. One thing I was surprised by tonight is how resilient the deck is to board wipes. As long as your lands aren't destroyed, all it takes is recasting your commander to have your army up and running again. Finally, untap creatures/lands effects are incredibly powerful here. They allow you to tap all your lands for Jolrael's ability plus buffs, then untap them all for the swing. They also have huge synergy with Gaea's Cradle to net a ton of mana once you turn all your lands into creatures. I added two more untappers in Vitalize and Rude Awakening. Here's where the list stands as of now (a lot of changes in the past week):
Most of these changes reflect things we've discussed in the comments. I'm continuing to cut back on the "slow our opponents down" plan by removing Mana Web. I still like Hall of Gemstone and Dosan the Falling Leaf, though. Rishkar's Expertise and Seasons Past are just better sources of card advantage than Harmonize and Masked Admirers. Animist's Awakening can be good with a lot of mana, but at that point, I'd rather spend my mana on things that bring me closer to a win. I've opted to cut the smaller-scale anthem effects like Gaea's Anthem and Sylvan Advocate because I'd rather make room for larger anthems. Especially when these effects are on an easy-to-remove creature like Advocate, they just feel like they're taking up space that could be better used by cards like Vitalize. In the next few days, I might try to expand the write-up in the first post to talk more about the direction of the deck and maybe summarize some of the things discussed in the comments.
EDIT: I added another last minute change to the list: cutting Embodiment of Insight for Caged Sun. Vigilance is nice, but the problem is untap effects are better because I'd rather tap my land creatures for mana, then untap them for the swing than swing with my land creatures and then use them for mana. And mana doublers are just so powerful in here that I think Caged Sun is better.
Good to hear that the deck is rolling!
I think that Hall of Gemstone is critical because it hoses so many decks and strategies. Do you think City of Solitude could work as well?Cast it a couple of turns before you go in for massive damage.
Edit: I just noticed Hunting Wilds. Isn't it too expensive? You play it without the kicker cost?

Hall of Gemstones is really helpful. Even though I've pretty much removed the whole "slow down our opponents" part of the strategy, I still think effects like this are important for getting through counter spells and the like. I like City of Solitude as some redundancy with Dosan. If it does make it in, I feel like I'm getting to nearly enough enchantments to make an enchantress worth it for some card draw...
You're right that I'll pretty much never kick Hunting Wilds. I wanted some more ramp effects that bring in more than one land, and I just happened to have a copy of Wilds on hand. It could just as easily be a Ranger's Path.
Ya know, what would be really good? A manland. But not just any manland, Inkmoth Nexus. I totally forgot I had a pair of these lying around in my binders. Personally adding one to my deck as I dunno about you, but potentially turning this baby into a 10/10 Flying Infector with all the buff effects is very nice.
I don't know if we really need man lands here. Inkmoth Nexus maybe, since it provides a more direct win con (unfortunately, I don't own any). Other than that, I don't know what other man lands provide that is better than just animating any given land. Of course, it's a lot easier to fit a land into the list, so it couldn't really hurt to include them.
Absolutely love the fact that I found this thread. I have been playing Jolrael for a couple of months now and started writing an article about her on my website, MTGCasualPlay.com. I want to get a few more games with her before publishing though.
She was a nostalgia pick for me, I remember winning a booster draft with her back when we drafted Prophecy in the Mercadian Masques block. Really excited to see someone else trying her out so I can get some more ideas.
Anyways, I'm gonna quick fire you a couple of questions and then introduce a few things I run.
Patron of the Orochi: Dude is expensive to cast, but he's a house. Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger: Along the lines of Hall of Gemstone to slow down opponents and help us Life from the Loam: This card is an all-star. Helps find lands and get lands back from hand to grave. Especially if we discard them. Frontier Siege: Two Green mana to go towards Jolrael's activation cost is two more forests that get to attack Seer's Sundial: Similar to Tireless Tracker. Draws cards. Myriad Landscape: Another great fetch land for an additional forests Oblivion Sower: Added this one for fun. Smack players down with their own lands. Nacatl War-Pride: All opposing creatures would have to block the War-Pride and it's tokens... that means, all of your 3/3 lands get through unblocked. AND... would be nuts with Benefactor's Draught. Pathbreaker Ibex: One of the few decks where I prefer this guy over Craterhoof. Lightning Greaves: Gets lands moving right away. Protects Jolrael. Works great to untap Patron of the Orochi. Fantastic with Imex and the War-Pride
Again, just great to see someone else playing Jolrael! Thanx for the conversation!

Thanks for joining the conversation! I'd love to see that Jolrael article whenever it goes up. As for your questions:
I don't have a strong opinion on Splendid Reclamation yet because I haven't had a chance to play it much. At first, Crucible of Worlds seemed like an obvious pick, but I found I just wasn't putting a ton of lands into the graveyard. The reason I like Reclamation is it's a one-time burst of a ton of lands should some go into my graveyard, rather than slowly recurring lands one at a time.
Benefactor's Draught is great. Untap effects are hugely powerful here, since we can make our lands creatures, use them to cast some buffs like Overrun or sink mana into Kamahl, and then untap them all for a big swing. The fact that Draught draws cards, too is just icing on the cake.
I had Constant Mists in the deck at first, but I cut it for two reasons: 1) I like that the fog I replaced it with, Arachnogenesis, also helps with our go-wide strategy by making a lot of tokens and 2) since we're dependent on our lands to make creatures, I didn't like the buyback cost as much as I have in other heavy-ramp style decks. I could see the benefit of running Mists alongside Crucible, though.
As for your suggestions: Patron and Vorinclex are both on my "maybe" list. The big thing holding me back from Vorinclex is $$ because I don't own one. I've never really been a fan of Seer's Sundial. I understand the comparison to Tireless Tracker however I don't like that we have to pay right away to get the draw. With the Clues, we can wait until we have some extra mana. The rest are all really solid suggestions. Some of them I'm surprised I hadn't thought of I especially like Nacatl War-Pride.
Yeah, I think I may make the switch to Splendid Reclamation and find a spot for Benefator's Draught.
I played one game with Jolrael last night... definitely need more spot removal. Jolrael got stymied by a Prison Term.
I tell you what though, theat Tireless Tracker was a beast. I drew 9 cards off of clue tokens. And, definitely see what you mean versus the Seer's Sundial. Even though I am currently running both, it was really nice to sit on the Clue tokens and hold up mana for my Beast Within.
Thanx for the chat!

Yeah, I was pretty surprised at how efficient Tireless Tracker was, too.
Spot removal is certainly important. As of now, I have Krosan Grip, Beast Within, Reclamation Sage, Primal Command and Song of the Dryads (side note: you should definitely run SotD, it's incredible). My only board wipe is Ugin. At the very least, I think I'd like to add in another board wipe, though I haven't yet decided which one.
As board wipes go The Great Aurora could be fun (the main backfire is if somebody else has more permanents than you due to tokens, but that could also end up decking them). Other than that you may have to turn to colorless such as Oblivion Stone.
I actually think that the land part of The Great Aurora could actually be interesting in this deck since it is assumed that you will get more lands than your opponents and you can animate them at the next turn. Their hands will be refilled though.

Terastodon is actually in the list already, just forgot to mention him as already-existing spot removal All of those others are good suggestions, I might have to give some of them a try.
And you know? I had actually considered The Great Aurora. Given that we're already dumping a lot of lands on the field, and have a minor token theme, we would almost certainly come out on top. Also, that card has a special place in my heart after I built a janky Aurora Ramp deck when it was standard legal. I think I'll add that to the list of cards to test.
Glad you like the front page! I'm pretty happy with the way that banner turned out, if I do say so myself
I do like Nature's Will. It's a solid effect and I have a soft spot for Kamigawa cards. However, the fact that it triggers on combat damage makes me a little hesitant. The real power in untap-effects lies in using them before combat, since we can use mana to pump up creatures, then untap and swing. That being said, it still might be worth trying out.
No updates in a while because I haven't been able to play the deck as much as I'd like. However, since a new set is about to come out, I figure I should take a look and see how Amonkhet might effect this deck. Short answer is...not very much. There are only two cards I'm considering, and neither of them are auto-includes:
Throne of the God-Pharaoh: This card can really hit my opponents hard on turns I animate my lands, since I will likely have a lot of tapped creatures in the form of the animated lands. However, the only time my creature count gets super high is when I activate Jolrael. Otherwise, there aren't a ton of creatures to take advantage of this. Still worth testing, I think.
Sandwurm Convergence: Probably too expensive, but we do ramp pretty hard. As with most mono-G decks, this deck has a bit of a weakness to flying creatures, and this card can help with that. Also, the giant tokens are nice.
I agree on monoG being susceptible to flyers. That's why I run Silklash Spider in my Polukranos, World Eater deck. I'm waiting for Oracle to update so I can test Sandwurm Convergence in some decks. That mana cost isn't really that high when you're ramping. It also combos great with a lot of cards like Stormtide Leviathan, Moat, etc. I hope it'll be super cheap. That way I can draw Beetlejuice riding one of the sandwurms in the art.
My YouTube Channel: The Commander Tavern - a channel I just started where I'll post deck techs and gameplays. Please support by checking it out. Maybe you'll like its content and subscribe! Thanks!
Haha, I love the Beetlejuice alter idea. Yeah, I don't see the card being very expensive. The more I think about it, the more optimistic I am about it. It's definitely worth testing, at the very least.
Lifecrafter's Bestiary replaced Rowen because it provided much better card advantage, plus I really like the scry ability. As a few people have suggested, Patron of the Orochi is an all star in this deck. Having an untap effect that also comes with a big body is really nice. Sandwurm Convergence didn't take much testing to convince me of its power. Not only did it single-handedly prevent me from losing to a flying Voltron deck, getting a 5/5 wurm on each of my turns was nice, too. Hall of Gemstone and Primal Command are both good cards, but I found myself not casting them as much as I expected, so they got the axe.
The only card I'm actively testing right now is The Great Aurora. It's been in the deck for a while now, I just haven't ever drawn it.
I haven't really tested the Bestiary yet, I just think it'll be better than Rowen. So I was comfortable making the change without actually testing it, but don't actually have any evidence of its effectiveness yet. As I said above, Sandwurm Convergence is really solid. I'd highly recommend it in any mono-green deck that's weak to fliers. I'm optimistic about The Great Aurora, too (and it holds a special place in my heart after building Aurora Ramp in standard when Origins was still legal). Unfortunately, I haven't drawn it yet...
Small changes to the lands. As I was writing the "Card Choices" section of the long post, I realized I was still running Ghost Quarter, which really should be a Strip Mine. I also cut a forest for Boseiju, Who Shelters All because resolving an Overrun uncountered is important.
Admittedly, I don't have a strong reason for not running Regrowth. I guess it just never made it into my list. EWit and Seasons Past serve well as my sources of recursion. I love love love Seasons Past. What's your experience with Wildest Dreams? I've never tested it in any deck, but it's always struck me as a little too expensive.
What's your experience with Wildest Dreams? I've never tested it in any deck, but it's always struck me as a little too expensive.
I am the first to not go for expensive cards, but having the option of 3 for Regrowth (Okay, nothing special), 5 for double Regrowth (Solid), 7 for triple Regrowth (Decent), and going to the limit of XX for X Regrowth, is pretty solid. The fact that it exiles is unfortunate, though.

I've had a chance to get a lot of testing in recently, so a few of the testing cards made their way into the main list:
IN
+ Sandwurm Convergence
+ Patron of the Orochi
+ Lifecrafter's Bestiary
OUT
- Rowen
- Hall of Gemstones
- Primal Command

I am running Eternal Witness. Can't play green without her
Admittedly, I don't have a strong reason for not running Regrowth. I guess it just never made it into my list. EWit and Seasons Past serve well as my sources of recursion. I love love love Seasons Past. What's your experience with Wildest Dreams? I've never tested it in any deck, but it's always struck me as a little too expensive.
