This deck is one of two (both Rakdos) that my wife gave me. she's had Olivia since pulling one in Innistrad days, and when we both got into EDH she wanted to build vampire tribal, but never really managed to make it stick and work well. I've encouraged her a couple of times to devote more time and energy to this deck, and eventually she just gave it to me to make it work.
I already have two Rakdos decks - Wort (also from wife) and Grenzo Dungeon Warden. Of these three, I LOVE the flavour of OG Olivia. She's a decadent, aristocratic hedonist vampire - everything a traditional vampire should be. The temptation in building her is to go either degenerate (I've done some research and I like these builds but don't want to do this) or tribal. Now, I've read my fair share of horror and fantasy, and I'm pretty familiar with vampire mythology lore. From what I've seen/read, they don't tend to hang around in packs. Certainly Stoker's Dracula didn't. They definitely have minions and a few underlings, but they are loners in general. So most of the picks I've gone for here are flavour based. Granted, most of the creatures here are vampires, but I've tried to pick the few that 'worked', and most of the other cards listed here are tasty and flavorsome or synergise well with Olivia.
This is my first true Vorthos deck. I like it flavour wise, but there are probably a few notes I may have missed. If you have any suggestions feel free to let me know. I'm happy to take critique of how the deck might play too; there's no point playing a deck if it gets annihilated, it's just that my first goal here is setting a scene.
Anyhow, let me know what you think either way. Thanks!
