Shirei is one of my favourite mono black generals. Unassuming and obscure, but he can be pretty damn nasty. I built this deck around the premise that with wither/infect and -X/-X effects, when a creature hits the graveyard, it's power is considered to be 0. This means that I can leverage symmetrical versions of these effects to obliterate my opponent's field and swing in for poison or just lock the board down.
Shirei is a weak point, being as he needs to be on the board for the effect to take place. He has some protection but we do still need to treat him with care.
There it is. There are definite things it needs, such as Corrosive Mentor, and things it could easily abuse, such as Massacre Wurm and Skithyryx, the Blight Dragon. But I'm also interested in hearing any comments, suggestions, or other fine tuning recommendations as seen fit. Thanks!
This deck has now sadly been retired. Had other mono black decks to work on, and this one was an experiment that I saw through long enough to say I'd done it, but it's since lost its fun, so onwards and upwards.
