Backstory:
I originally built this list for some holiday fun time as sort of a joke around the local shop. More or less that Zedruu was a joke and could not really amount to anything great. I perused some lists and build my variation of the deck using a few deck lists a as baseline and it took off. I won one commander tournament, placed third on one on last Friday and have got the itch to make it as savage as possible. I mean, I want this deck to be as competitive as humanly possible. This will become my main deck, and as such, no budget.
I am open to all suggestions.
Ordered the above cards to experiment with. Play tested the deck some more, my play group is very aggressive it seems, so adding in some of these cards should slow them down and even the odds a bit. Ill be looking at getting some better dual lands when funds become available.
If you like giving out gifts, why not try the "hunted" creature cycle such as Hunted Phantasm?
I do not yet get the Zedru trigger off the creatures, I had considered it. I have Forbidden Orchard for that regard, it's split second and can provide a blocker for someone in need.
The deck was updated yesterday afternoon with some of the cards I purchased.
I made some adjusments with the new cards I got and entered a commander tournament this afternoon. We played 3 rounds and it was an absolute blast. I literally controlled the entire game. This deck list ended up turning more into a Stax build then intended, but it seems to work great and everyone had some laughs along the way.
I ended up coming in 1st place for the whole tournament. I won the first round against a Yidris and graveyard deck (I forget his commander, because he never casted it). I cast Illusions of Grandeur 4 times that match. It ended up timing out with me at over 80 life. I had a turn 2 Meekstone that shut down both decks. Neither one seemed to run any artifact or enchantment hate.
Second match was against a Sigarda Aura Voltron deck and an Azami Infinite Turn and other stupid stuff combo deck. I essentially sat in the corner and did nothing while the Azami and Sigarda deck battled it out, I just Pillowforted myself, and the Sigarda deck took out the Azami deck. The Sigarda deck then came at me with a mass of aura enchantments hitting for over 200 commander damage. Not much I can do about that when they pay 12 mana to attack and I cant target, destroy for make him sacrifice Sigarda. I came in second this match.
The third match was against a Saskia and the same Sigarda deck. The Saskia deck and myself teamed up to take out the Sigarda deck. The Saskia deck was successful in eliminating the Sigarda deck, but ultimately lost to me due to me using Transcendence with him at 29 life and me at 7. I ended up winning this match, but just barley. Sigarda decks are very tough to beat, for sure. I just was not able to get my Rule of Law or Arcane Laboratory fast enough. It doesnt help with they have a Sigarda's Aid which gives auras and enchantments flash
Switched Dominus of Fealty for Humility to help against the Sigarda match up and circumvent her creature abilities. Not sure if I will keep it, it is in play testing mode.
I can always destroy it if it gets in the way. I run many means of destruction for artifact and enchantment.
