Hey everyone. This is my casual commander deck based around the mushroom lord himself, Thelon of Havenwood.
Keep in mind that this is just a casual build made out of cards I had lying around, meant to be fun while playing some dorky creatures and moving lots of dice around.
That said, if you happen have suggestions, comments or concerns... Keep them to yourself. Or tell me, do whatever you want I'm not the boss of you

Contagion Engine is typically a great option for proliferate. Takes care of tokens while turbo-charging your counters.

Is it though? Have you had experience using it?
I'm not sold, to me it looks like a 6cmc Black Sun's Zenith for 1 that will die before it's my turn again.
It seems like a fine card but I'm not sold on it.
Thallids take three upkeeps to get enough spore counters to use their secondary ability. Three. Proliferate means you can cut down that time significantly. You already have Doubling Season. Doubling Season + proliferate means that you are basically adding two counters on each permanent when you use it. This deck could easily run cards like Contagion Clasp, Contagion Engine, and Plaguemaw Beast. With the contagion artifacts you just need a bit of mana and tapping and you get an extra spore counter on all your Thallids at instant speed. With Plaguemaw Beast you can just sacrifice a token and add a spore counter to all your Thallids. With Doubling Season out, you're adding two spore counters to each Thallid. Again, activated abilities are at instant speed so you're able to put spore counters on your Thallids at instant speed versus simply waiting for your upkeep or exiling cards from your graveyard with Thelon to do so. In fact, you could even add Spread the Sickness. Sure, it's a 5-mana kill spell at sorcery speed, but in mid to late game, you're killing a key creature and adding a spore counter to a lot of Thallids. Don't underestimate proliferate in a counter deck.

Tukatongue Thallid is too weak in EDH - even in a Thallid deck. Feral Thallid costs a lot and all it does is regenerate itself. So it can go because you can make larger creatures for cheaper. The deck is very color demanding so Mind Stone is not really that useful of a mana rock. On that note, I also suggest swapping out Ashnod's Altar for Phyrexian Altar in order to get some color since the deck is very color intensive.
I don't have any suggestions on what to swap out for Spread the Sickness. And, I also suggest you add Second Harvest to give you an insane amount of Saproling tokens. Primal Vigor is also a good token doubler if your pod isn't too reliant on tokens or +1/+1 counters.

Hmmm. I could see dropping Feral Thallid, sometimes the GGG is annoying.
So in that case I would probably switch in Contagion Engine. However I like Tukatongue Thallid because I pronounce it Two-kuh-tong-uh and it annoys my friends. Which is one of the primary goals of commander right?
I'm not a huge fan of the beast and if I were to switch out the stone it would be for another mana rock. I would do Darksteel Ingot or Commander's Sphere but I didn't have one lying around.
And I have to say I bear a grudge against Second Harvest because I open that card all the time in SOI draft and it makes me angry
Oh yeah and Phyrexian Altar is like $34. I don't have that money to blow on a dorky deck like this right now.
By that same reasoning, that's why I don't have Craterhoof Behemoth in the deck. Though I would love to jam one in there.

Damn, that's gotta suck to keep opening the same dollar-bin rare when there's so many goodies in SOI...
I didn't know Phyrexian Altar was so expensive! I remember when they were like $1 a pop! Then again that was when they were Standard legal quite some time ago, lol!
I guess I can understand excluding Plaguemaw Beast. But Contagion Clasp and Contagion Engine definitely need a home in your deck. They're like puppies in a storm whilst on your doorstep. Puppies that make your fungi grow to immense proportions. Puppies that takes you deck one step further than "chillin' like a villain" into "Thelon like a felon".

I noticed that I had almost zero +1/+1 counter synergy making Corpsejack Menace just a harder to cast Rumbling Baloth. I'm going to run it like this for a while and see how it goes.
