Thoughts on Thalia's Lancers? You seem to have a reasonably sized legendary toolbox, and the lancers could get you easier access to it. Also, worming Stonehewer Giant back in seems like a good idea - I mean, you have the potential to plonk out Sunforger from the depths of your deck and activate it out of the blue. Interaction heaven.
Both good points. I'm actually having a really hard time with this set because it is throwing a lot of interesting new tools at me. On top of that, the Freyalise deck in my playgroup has retired, so I'm considering adding a few equipment/enchantments. <sigh> All these options. I'll be posting a set review within a few days.

You've got a lovely equipment toolbox, including indestructibility, unblockability, shroud, protection from colours... the ability to yank something out of the deck to help Ruhan connect/not die instant speed like a good idea. Maybe Fireshrieker for some extra oomph?
Thalia's Lancers: As pointed out, the deck currently runs 11 legendary creatures and one legendary land. This card will effectively help turn the deck into a toolbox, which is extremely helpful, especially considering the lack of creature tutors in the Jeskai colors. This will be going in, probably replacing World Queller, because it doesn't change the mana curve and it isn't a necessary card anyhow.
Sigarda's Aid: This card is going to be an auto-include in a lot of EDH decks going forward. This allows for some really great combat tricks, not to mention the ability to negate some of the nasty equip costs that exist. Things like Batterskull start to look a lot more attractive, especially considering that the equip cost was the primary reason I removed it from my deck. This card will be included in my list if I decide that I can make some space for a few more equipments, only because I don't know if the current 7 that I run warrant its inclusion.
Imprisoned in the Moon: This card is just shy of being included. This would have easily replaced Oblivion Ring if it were not limited to creatures, lands, and planeswalkers. The reason being, the gods are a very real threat in my metagame (there's a Purphoros, God of the Forge player and a Phenax, God of Deception player), and because a player can send their commander back to the command zone rather than stuck under an O-ring means that I don't have great ways of dealing with the indestructible gods all the time. This card could have been my Song of the Dryads.

so you need to find space for sigarda's aid, stonehewer Giant, assault suit, and reconnaissance, assuming you trade the batterskull for keranos, lancers for world queller, sunhome for desolate lighthouse and seize the day for relentless assault.
figuring out those last four to cut is gonna be tough... While I dont have any experience with the deck, my thoughts are that Elspeth, Knight-Errant and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight are some of the weaker cards at the moment. I have had mixed results with Daxos of Meletis whenever i try to use him, not sure if he is reliable enough to warrant a spot over, say, reconnaissance.
also, i have been using Swiftfoot boots over Lightning greaves in a lot of builds lately because i hate having to unequip to target. While the extra mana sucks, curious to see if you have ever run into any problems.
Those are some really good suggestions actually. You made me really critically analyze how I feel about Elspeth, Knight-Errant. I really hate to see her go, because I like the options of having chump blockers or an evasive Ruhan, but I think that some of the other options that I'm looking at will make up for it. In the same vein, I've decided to cut Gideon Jura. Again, I hate to see him go, but I really want to see some of this other stuff in action, and he seems like one of the weaker cuts.
That frees up an additional two spots.
I'm still debating whether or not to cut Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. She's damn powerful. I'll revisit this soon.
I don't ever have problems with Greaves over Boots. It does suck to unequip to target because it gives a brief window for a nasty instant, but it's never something I've had to deal with.
I've also decided to cut Land Tax, at least for the time being. It's a dead draw in the late game, and runs the risk of exceedingly filling up your hand in the early game.

You don't have to find three, you can find less than three. I rarely go into discard lands zone in the early game, and generally use the basic land stream to keep myself topped up to seven (and have land backup for later).
The worst thing I found in greaves is that if you have only one creature you can not unequip and equip other powerful equipment.
Oh, that's true. I don't think I've ever been in that situation before, but that's a good point. Greaves are just too good with Ruhan. Play them turn 2 or 3 and Ruhan is attacking for 7 on turn 4.

Hi there! Thank you for writing such a thoughtful and well written primer. I'm going to sleeve something similar to this for my Tuesday night EDH.
A quick note after reading through the primer. A few times you mention that Boros Charm serves as spot removal or a way to clear away blockers. I think you may have misread the card at some point as the 4 damage can only hit players. Perhaps you were referring to the Double Strike mode, but regardless I found the language confusing.

My biggest issue with Covenant of Minds is that it's a sorcery and not an instant, which makes it much less flexible than FoF. Having said that, I do like the card. Let me know how it plays, please!

Insidious Will: I love the versatility on the card; I think it could be useful if someone wanted to include it in their build. However, it's CMC is a bit too prohibitive for me and it doesn't interact with Sunforger, so I'll probably skip this.
Paradoxical Outcome: I really like this card. It's the perfect way to preserve your cards in response to a board wipe, or as an emergency card draw. It may replace Restoration Angel. Besides being able to duplicate ETB, she's largely included to help one of my established creatures evade removal; this aligns with the second function but on a larger scale. I'd be interest in anyone's perspective on this.

Hey Cool Seedling, I am totally in love with this deck and have been looking for a Jeskai commander for ages and thanks to you I have chosen Ruhan. I am in love with the Sunforger Tool Box idea that you have going on so I am including that in my list for sure, thanks for the awesome idea.
Two things, unless I have miscounted, you currently only have 98 cards in your decklist, one of the missing is Ruhan himself, but the other I am not so sure of what it is. Also, obviously spoilers have only just ended but do you have any pre-thoughts you wish to share in regards to Commander 2016 cards? Off the top of my head I cannot think of any, though it may be that some exist.
As for the Paradoxical Outcome, I would worry that you would be dropping too low in your creature count. Of course if you feel that isn't a relevant factor then I would be inclined to say that Paradoxical Outcome is a strong addition for the reasons you have mentioned. Beyond that, it is only dependent on your maximum handsize and your ability to replay any permanents bounced this way.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for the decklist, I cannot wait to get my own version of it up and running ^w^

I'm really glad you like the deck so much! If you make any changes/new discoveries, definitely let me know!
There are only 98 because I removed Ancestral Vision to experiment with some other cards, but haven't actually found any superior alternatives yet. I should probably just add it back to the list until I find something better. Good catch.
Thanks for your input. I've still been looking around for a copy. When I pick one up and have some play testing to confirm I'll report back.

A little late on the analysis of new toys, but here goes.
Duelist's Heritage: This card does not specify that your creatures have to be the ones attacking, making it very threatening to your opponents. I plan to experiment with this card in the future, but I need to find something to cut.
Now that I'm looking at the set again, I'm realizing how few the new cards were.

yeah, the new set wsn't too kind to Ruhan! I could see some use with Conqueror's Flail, the pump doesn't quite take him to a 2 turn clock but the Grand Abolisher effect could be good with certain metas. But as always, what do you take out?
glad you posted something, as you reminded me of a card i recently found. I was toying around with some stupid combo, and got into thinking about ways to enable trample outside of green. Found this beauty - Savage Alliance. It really made me think, it could be a decent win con, and it does more than just trample at that. Maybe that's worth considering?
Two cards stood out to me this set, both of which would be a fantastic include for anyone looking to begin building this deck, though I will not be including them myself.
Disallow: This is a hot new counter that is fantastically versatile. It will be an autoinclude in a lot of decks, but because it does not operate with Sunforger it will not be included in my build. However, this spell should not be overlooked.
Trophy Mage: This is a budget Stoneforge Mystic. It grabs Sword of X and Y, Sunforger, and Whispersilk Cloak. I haven't decided on whether or not I'll add this because I don't find myself often wanting for more equipment tutors, but it is notable regardless.

February 2017 Updates: Removed Sigarda's Aid, Batterskull, Assemble the Legion, and Supreme Verdict, added Keranos, God of Storms, Devastation Tide, Planar Cleansing, and Suppression Field.
A Sliver Queen Planeswalker deck is now dominating the meta and has been for a few months. As it runs plenty of creature sweepers, I felt it safe to run fewer of them, in a sense letting the planeswalker player deal with creature threats, instead replacing it with broader sweepers to help get rid of a board full of planeswalkers and tokens. The same player also runs a Purphoros, God of the Forge deck, so they help to remove an indestructible enchantment and tokens. The same player also runs a Derevi, Empyrial Tactician deck, so the inclusion of Suppression Field hoses both his planeswalker deck and Derevi's ability. Keranos was included for his card advantage as well as having the ability to redirect his damage directly to a planeswalker (and Derevi for that matter).

I think only one card really stands out to me from this set, and that is...
Pull from Tomorrow: This is a really efficient draw spell that, like Blue Sun's Zenith, is instant speed and remains relevant throughout the game because of its X cost. I will be including this when I decide what I'm willing to cut.

First off, awesome work on this primer. It's all kinds of dope.
Now, I want your thoughts on a few pieces of tech that I've been running in a different deck that you might find useful. Sword of the Animist It should be ran in almost any deck that doesn't run green... Hell, There's a ton of decks that run green that should still run it. You end up pulling ahead more then you'd think. It's an attack trigger, not a damage trigger and you can slap it on anything. Godsend and Sword of Kaldra Are the other folk at your LGS running evil nasty Gods? Eldrazi titans? Avycn 1.0? No need to worry anymore! These 2 equipments will send all their icons of worship to the land of myths.:link: Really, with the 5 new Gods that were just released, I've seen enough "God decks" at my LGS to make stuff like this needed lately...
Also, I would like to say that I don't agree with taking out Ms. Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. Not only is she a boss to help you deal damage AND protect you from damage, but she also makes the table more willing to one shot someone else. I've always liked it when this happens...
Guy 1: ok, moving to combat.
Me: Well... you know... just saying... you should attack Colby...
Colby: WTF is this dude?!?!
Me: Yep... You should go after him
Guy 1: And why should I do that? I'd rather go after you
Colby: Yeah, I like that ideal
Me: Well... Just saying... It's either you swing at me, lose your best creature (if not more) AND barely tap me for anything... OR... Your field does double damage to Colby... *exaggerated wink*...
Colby: DUDE!!! NOT COOL!!!
Guy 1: . . . . *swings at Colby for lethal*

Thank you for the compliment and the suggestions!
I don't know why but I initially chose to ignore Sword of the Animist for use in a 3-color deck (not a ton of basics to grab). I run it in my mono-U Mistform Ultimus deck and it puts in work! I'm glad you brought it up though, because it made me think about it a second time, and I think I will try it out. This coincides with finding Tithe really underwhelming the last few times I've had it. I think the sword will be a suitable replacement.
However, I'm not sure what I could/would cut for Godsend or Sword of Kaldra, or if I wouldn't be better served to just include Council's Judgment. I'll have to think on those for a bit longer.

Besides being able to duplicate ETB, she's largely included to help one of my established creatures evade removal; this aligns with the second function but on a larger scale. I'd be interest in anyone's perspective on this.

WUR Ruhan of the Fomori [Primer] | WGR Marath, Will of the Wild | WUG Derevi, Empyrial Tactician | WUB Sharuum, the Hegemon | WBGR Tymna the Weaver / Tana, the Bloodsower | BR Rakdos, Lord of Riots | BUG Sidisi, Brood Tyrant
yeah, the new set wsn't too kind to Ruhan!
[EDH In Development] Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis | Trostani, Selesnya's Voice | Queen Marchesa | Ruhan of the Fomori | Yahenni, Undying Partisan
[EDH Retired] Ertai, The Corrupted | Sigarda, Host of Herons | Tariel, Reckoner of Souls | Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
[Modern] Stuffy Doll Combo Burn | Demigod of Revenge

Removed Sigarda's Aid, Batterskull, Assemble the Legion, and Supreme Verdict, added Keranos, God of Storms, Devastation Tide, Planar Cleansing, and Suppression Field.

Goblin Green Acres
Guy 1: ok, moving to combat.
Me: Well... you know... just saying... you should attack Colby...
Colby: WTF is this dude?!?!
Me: Yep... You should go after him
Guy 1: And why should I do that? I'd rather go after you
Colby: Yeah, I like that ideal
Me: Well... Just saying... It's either you swing at me, lose your best creature (if not more) AND barely tap me for anything... OR... Your field does double damage to Colby... *exaggerated wink*...
Colby: DUDE!!! NOT COOL!!!
Guy 1: . . . . *swings at Colby for lethal*
Goblin Green Acres
